I would like some suggestions for VR settings in DCS for the following reason. Im running a HP reverb G2. In cockpit I’m very happy with visual quality and most of the time the performance, although this can depend on modules as some run better than others. My complaint is antialiasing around the canopy in external views of aircraft other than that I’m pretty pleased with everything else. I’m able to run most of my modules at a smooth and steady fps even with rain although it’s too much to ask from the F4 and the apache. I currently run DLAA with no upscaling. I find upscale adds to strange wobbly effects around the edges of the aircraft and turning off upscaling after playing with settings over and over is about the best I can get it. I can’t run MSAA it just makes my experience like a slide show. I probably should just accept that things run pretty well and look good in cockpit and leave it at that but I can’t help but find it really annoying that I look at external views and the canopy edges of aircraft look terrible, I’ve always liked checking out external views while flying and have done since way back to simming in the 90s. So I’m just looking for some suggestions I guess but without going to MSAA. Many thanks.

I’ve got to the stage where I’m becoming picky with the modules I buy. After the F15 I am more so. It’s put me off a lot of modules combined with the fact I don’t have the time to learn them all I’m only buying aircraft that really interest me now, I was tempted with the Kiowa but didn’t bother in the end. Last module I bought was the F4 and I have given HB positive feedback because the F4 has exceeded my expectations it looks incredible, the FM feels incredible and it’s just all round such an impressive module being that it’s so early access as well, launching with in cockpit pilots and feature complete in many ways. It is a step up in many ways from the F14 imo and I hope that HB can bring many of the features of the F4 to the beautiful Tomcat. Mainly the cockpit in my opinion the F4 cockpit looks so much better in VR than the F14. The A6 is a plane that always captivated me, as a kid I’d look through books about supercarriers looking at pictures of the F14 and developed a real interest in the A6 tempting me to buy books and books about the intruder it’s such an interesting aeroplane. So the A6 will be a much looked forward to purchase for me, and I’ve become a HB fan as well so I have confidence it will be an outstanding module. Can’t wait for it.

I not only have to avoid F10 views but I often have a similar trend even if I don’t use F10. Sometimes I may fly for 15-20 mins and have smooth gameplay 45fps in VR with a HP reverb. Then I get a drop and the sim runs at 30-32 fps and it’s a stuttering mess. However more often than not and it doesn’t make much sense I alt tab (I have a few background processes because of VR and I run a simshaker jetseat) and after tabbing through a few processes and then going back into the sim it’s back to 45fps and running smooth. I will say that this is more with the more system demanding modules that I own. So say the F4,F14 apache. But the F16 runs absolutely fine all the time with no issues in frame drops at all for me. But if I make the fatal error of F10 that’s it it’s not often the mission will run right again and more often than not I end up restarting dcs to get a normal frame rate again.

Ah ok I didn’t realise this thankyou. Does anyone have any experience using the moza obviously it’s very expensive, is it worth paying the extra money?

I’m thinking of getting a new flightstick. The Moza base looks like something I would love to get however I’ve got so used to using an extension with my flight stick over the years I don’t think I could do without one and it seems to me that there are no extensions available for the Moza ffb and it’s flightstick. I currently have a warthog flightstick. It’s been fine and I’ve got good use from it for a number of years. I would like something that gives me more of a mechanical feel when using it, my thrustmaster just feels to soft, maybe having been used for so long now hasn’t helped, would anyone suggest a particular stick considering use with an extension? One that is relatively stiff and perhaps has the option to apply more tension? I have considered the new thrustmaster ava base, the advantage of this would be my sticks are already compatible, has anyone got any experience of the Ava base with an extension? suggestions would be welcome thankyou.

Tried the map again today (latest patch) this same problem exists with all my aircraft installed. Is this issue acknowledged by the developers?

Yeah the sea harrier looks great and I love the look of the FRS1 in particular but unfortunately we have no working radar. For that reason I’ve mainly been focusing on having as close a representation of a GR7 as possible.

Yes I was told it was in their plans but 3 years on and I’d be surprised if they’ve even looked into it. Their development cycle is extremely slow.

Do you use VR? How did the SA map run for you before this update?

yeah but the point i'm making is i'm getting smooth gameplay on other maps Syria Sinai Normandy Caucasus, and south Atlantic did run smooth before aside from the drop in performance after a few minutes flying if you went above a certain altitude (bug). Tried a few minutes and just not playable, plus 2D and VR are always different performance outputs. I've had the map since early access and have hardly used it.

Am I the only one experiencing severe performance drop off in VR with the latest update. Other maps are performing considerably better in comparison

Some people are finding the tcs doesnt work in the multithread version me included. The reason for the problem still has yet to be found. There is a workaround you need to load your mission twice after that the tcs in cockpit loads fine.

You shouldn’t feel unable to critique developers if you feel you have justification and it’s done with respect, that’s how we solve things eventually. I’ve not heard the sounds yet as I’m away I’m eagerly awaiting them as I’ve never felt the A in particular sounded quite right. I’m hoping they get it just right.

Now we have this absolutely incredible mod by denissoliveira I thought it was appropriate to share some appreciation for his work which is quite brilliant. He has added a description to adjust existing skins so they work with the new noses I believe however i'm yet to quite work it out and have been using his added stock skins. With an alarm mod and British accent mod along with a Harrier GR7 menu screen I really feel like I now have a Harrier GR7 in the sim. Yeah I’ve tried so many different slots then restarted the PC multiple times. I have read about a powered usb unit but in 3-4 years it’s always worked so I’m not sure? Did you physically have to re-install windows 11 and that actually worked for you?

Many thanks for your responses guys reading through them and it’s appreciated, when you say a reset button do you mean the small button that turns the power on/off on the flat square box? Do you have to hold it down for a period of time to do a reset? Yes testing it on another pc could be a possibility, would a windows update work I wonder may be worth looking if there are any updates available although I have my win 11 set for auto updates. I can’t be at my pc for a couple of days but will have a look at that when I can.

Hi DCS community, I’m after your help/advice. I’ve had reverb G2 and prior to that a G1. My G1 originally started flickering and after contacting HP and establishing I was within warranty I was upgraded to a G2 for free. Unfortunately on this occasion my G2 has no longer got power to the headset, I’ve checked that the lead is in the headset and having reverbs for a while Im fairly well versed on how things work, I’ve sometimes had problems where the headset can’t be detected, and after plugging in the usb into a different port or just plugging it in and out and a restart it has always managed to solve the issue quickly, on this occasion it’s different, despite having power and a light to the power box no power is reaching the headset, or certainly the HP logo is not lit. Unfortunately my G2 is no longer in warranty and HP no longer offer any assistance or support, not even the option to repair the headset. So with a few options I need to decide where I go next. I’d like to know if anyone has had the same issue and managed to solve it or perhaps advise me if I’m going to be flogging a dead horse. See I don’t want to pay for 2nd hand parts and leads only to find it doesn’t fix the issue. If this isn’t possible then I need a new headset. I don’t dislike the reverb and have been pleased with the visual quality, although maybe performance has not been quite as good, having said that over the last couple of years I’ve managed to get a decent performance/visual balance and maintain a steady 45fps in VR so it’s a generally smooth experience. I also am not in a position to spend lots of money on a headset at the moment, unfortunately this has come at a bad time and I don’t want to have to stop my hobby as I only fly in VR. I have the option to buy a 2nd hand reverb on eBay but of course I realise having had two already that have gone defective I understand this is a gamble. If it’s not a reverb I’ve seen HTC vive headsets refurbished for a reasonable amount. I have no experience with vives. So if someone could give me an honest non biased assessment of the vive I’d really appreciate it, in terms of its visual quality and performance, and if they are more reliable than the HP headsets? Or perhaps an alternative headset option that they have experience with that I could pick up refurbished for a reasonable price? your help is always appreciated dcs community… I look forward to any advice.
