Bags of potential. And judging by the Mirage it will get all the little details I look forward to. Pilot body. Improved sound. Now that I play in VR I struggle with working mirrors and FPS but find just blank mirrors look so ugly. Would love the possibility of the mirrors turning upwards like we see in the Su33/Su27. But that's just little details, still have to pinch myself and say I'm flying a harrier in DCS the RAF skins look so great on the AV-8 btw, and it's just so cool. Well done Razbam.

* DCS: F-14 Development Update! Scan, Lock, Fire! *
westr replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well general radio chatter then in DCS is lacking. I do have high hopes for the heatblur Tomcat. I do think I am going to become completely and utterly addicted to the F-14. -

Reading the update the fluidity of chatter from the RIO will add greatly to the immersion. To me this is a big thing I think it will really make you feel your there in the cockpit especially combined with VR. This isn't currently replicated to a large extent in DCS i.e chatter, though this will be the first two seat proper combat aircraft for DCS it's going to be intriguing. -

Hi heatblur guys. Is there a chance you could update us on how you are planning to record sounds or have perhaps already recorded sounds for the distinctive sounding TF-30 engines? -
You have to remember that the way DCS is and always evolving the developers of the modules often have to keep updating the module to keep it perfectly functional. I think this needs to be considered regards the pricing as well.

Try aerial refuelling

The Sea Harrier was nicknamed the Black Death by the Argentines during the falklands war. It had a reputation as a widowmaker but in a different way there both feared and respected.

Wow. Looks great.

With the current crop of aircraft and a theatre of operations concentrating on the latter stages of WWII I would argue as well that the De Haviland Mosquito would be an appropriate big hitter for the British side of operations. Two excellent American aircraft in the P-51 and the P-47 three for Germany with the 190 109 and Me262. With the introduction of the Mosquito it became the answer to the prayers of the RAF who's operations changed drastically after the Battle of Britain and started to concentrate over occupied Europe. Such an incredible aircraft with the range and versatility to perform a number of roles and boy would it be fun to fly in DCS with that row of cannons in the belly and machine guns in the nose, as well as being different from what we already have. The downside being with a complex flight model and twin engines and obviously more complex engine management, it would probably be more effort than any developer would be prepared to put in.

I would like to see the Mustang III variant for the RAF if possible. Love the Hurricane and would love to see it with appropriate era units.

I do agree that as good as it is, with Deferred shading on the Normandy colours need some adjustment, I do feel Nevada looks spot on though.

Of course the Panavia Tornado has thrust reversing technology as well. The Viggens works perfectly...

If it was to be a Tornado pls let it be an IDS or GR.

Wow interesting WindyTX, what was your opinion of the Tornado F3 may I ask, good aeroplane? -
awesome isn't it, for a second I thought it was a photograph.
-
My guess and hope for an F-14 expansion would be an LTS pod for the 'B' and the relevant changes to the cockpit. Well worth paying extra for in my view. I'm completely with you regarding a Tornado IDS btw. Having a Tomcat and a Tornado would be my ultimate dream. You never know. Fingers crossed.

Great time for a release though. :)

:pilotfly: Another two seat Grumman maybe.

Going slightly off topic here HB but is there a chance the pilot models from an external viewpoint may be animated, as in they perform random head movements that will possibly coincide with the jester A.I movement. A bit like we see in some other simulations. A little less static?

I fly her as an interceptor, set up CAP scenarios where I loiter on station rendezvous with a tanker and refuel. The cockpit feels snug and amazing in VR. The experience of refuelling in mid-air is extremely immersing. All the radios work I tune from tanker back to awacs who vector me towards targets where I get to launch missiles at bvr. The missiles work. Then I use the TACAN to guide me back to base. Or I can follow my WPs back to base where I use the great ILS system that takes control of my aircraft and flies me in, this all works and I love it, reminds me of D.Is Tornado and it's ILS landings. There's plenty there to love depends what your looking for I suppose. I will accept that in a merge it's difficult, I look forward to the FM updates as much as anybody, having said that if you dump your tanks and have a clean aircraft I have had success in a close fight against nimble adversaries, but you do use a lot of fuel. You have to ease with the stick pressure often and let her build up speed.

Sounds really exciting. I really hope they develop pilot bodies for in cockpit view. To look over your shoulder and be able to see your RIO I think is important for immersion. I also feel it really adds something to the VR experience when you can look down and see a pilot body. Love the attention to detail here, things like not seeing a target because it's behind a mountain, sounds simple but these little things will make such a difference.

He did explain his reasons. The challenge of managing the engines etc. And I can understand that. We want sims to be challenging.
