The Symbol that looks like this _/\_

Indeed the ARBS is more accurate than radar when doing bombing runs. One of the reasons why the AV-8B Plus carry TPODs, to get back some of that capability.

Pocket guide has been updated

The aircraft's specific sounder is still being developed by ED.
-
I haven't arrived at that part yet. :smartass:
-
This time you will get the NVG. But not on initial early access release.
-
I'm not sure that the F-18C stick is exactly the same as the NA. Remember that there are three variants: DA, NA and PLUS. NA and PLUS share the same control stick HOTAS configuration. DA has its own version, which is similar but not quite the same. It is the same with the throttle, each variant has its own version of the throttle HOTAS that are very similar but also quite different.

Of course, no problem. But in due time we will include our own custom kneeboard for the AV-8B NA. So be prepared to update it.

Actually if you open any default.lua keyboard or joystick configuration file for any aircraft, you will see these actions described there. From the AV-8B NA keyboard default.lue {pressed = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieUp, up = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieOff, name = _('TDC Forward'), category = _('HOTAS')}, {pressed = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieDown, up = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieOff, name = _('TDC Aft'), category = _('HOTAS')}, {pressed = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieLeft, up = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieOff, name = _('TDC Left'), category = _('HOTAS')}, {pressed = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieRight, up = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_CoolieOff, name = _('TDC Right'), category = _('HOTAS')}, {down = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_TDC_depress_on, up = iCommandPlane_HOTAS_TDC_depress_off, name = _('TDC Down (Action Position)'), category = _('HOTAS')},

Aircraft carriers have their own localizer and glideslope, along with their own TACAN stations. That is why the AV-8B instruments landing system is called the All-Weather Landing System (ALWS). I know that the USAF, and probably the USMC, have portable ILS systems along with TACAN that can be set anywhere they need to open an airfield with full instruments landing support. The USAF loaned one of those to my city when the 2016 earthquake destroyed my city's air control tower. The three people working on it died like heroes because instead of trying to escape they remained inside waving all aircraft in the landing pattern away.

The check/procedures lists are taken from the real ones but I omitted certain checks/procedures that cannot be applied to DCS. For the most part they are the real ones. Do not use those check lists/procedures to fly a real aircraft. There is a lot of stuff that needs to be done in the real aircraft that as I said were left out, and will remain out.

It spells what is missing in the initial Early Release. Like the M-2000C expect regular updates with bug fixes and upgrades.

In DCS you can program a specific key in three ways: DOWN: Action happens only once when the key is first pressed. UP: Action happens only once when the key is released PRESS: Action happens as long as the key is pressed. You can combine DOWN and UP or PRESS and UP to obtain two different actions. DOWN and PRESS are mutually exclusive. With these three options the range of actions that can be coded is quite large.

Yes, we have. Yes. They refer to switch position.

Hello Folks. Here is a link to the AV-8B NA Pocket Guide which will be included in the Early Access release. The full manual will be included later in the development process. The guide is still WiP but this is as far as we (meaning I) have advanced to this day. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwxk88479v98thh/AV8BNA%20Pocket%20Guide.pdf?dl=0 Please use this thread for any questions regarding the guide 2017-09-20. The pocket guide has been updated. Internal and External sensors sections have been included. Some small edits on previous sections. 2017-09-21. Weapons Section has been started. 2017-09-27. Weapons delivery & acquisition modes.

Yes, that's the new Caucasus map.

I was testing the damage modelling for the AV-8B NA. I made a special mission, which is a gauntlet of AAA that I must cross. Here is an extract of the log: ** First gun on the gauntlet took out the right outrigger wheel: 00374.823 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Right Wheel 85, value: 0.056805 ** Second gun took out half my left wing: 00420.960 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Center 29, value: 0.418123 00420.978 ERROR GRAPHICSVISTA: Can't open model av-8b_oblomok_wing_r. 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Center 29, value: 0.000000 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Outboard 23, value: 0.000000 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Leading Edge Center 21, value: 0.000000 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Wing RCS conduit 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Aileron Left 25, value: 0.000000 00420.979 WARNING LOG: 1 duplicate message(s) skipped. 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Gear Housing 15, value: 0.056966 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Inboard 35, value: 0.469084 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Fuel Tank 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Leading Edge Center 21, value: 0.000000 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Wing RCS conduit 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Outboard Flap 31, value: 0.310311 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Inboard Flap 37, value: 0.292753 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wing Leading Edge Inboard 27, value: 0.974973 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Wing RCS conduit 00420.979 INFO AV8B_FM: EFM damage to Left Wheel 84, value: 1.000000 The lesson here is don't fly into AAA range.

In this case it is correctly applied. The outrrigger pylons are not authorized for carriage in U.S. aircrafts. The capability exists but it is not used and very likely never will be used on the US AV-8B.

Hello, we are aware of this issue. Initially all video images will be displayed in grayscale. Although it is possible to display the video in greenscale, such texture does not support some video options required for IR display. In order to be consistent, and thus not have some video in green and others (IR) in gray, all video will be displayed in grayscale for the time being. We will make the change to greenscale as soon as we are certain that all video options are available when using this texture.

Folks, the problem with the ASL in the video was a bug. The function controlling it was not working as intended and that means that there was no lateral displacement and that it was visible at all times. I did not caught it until you told me about the problem.

It is too late for this week's update so I will check and commit some bug fixes for next update. Unfortunately the AV-8B NA does demand most of my attention but this does not mean that I don't want to update/upgrade the M-2000C.

I wish I could tell you all the stuff that happens in our office that sometimes play havoc with our plans.
-
Oh man! I thought this was solved a while ago. I'll have to check. I am deeply sorry if it isn't.

I read a note in a book about AV-8B NA and Plus in operation Southern Watch. Many will be loaded with sidearms and mavericks and would go SAM/AAA hunting. All sidearms were expended there.
