Likely most kids used to play war and/or wanted to be a pilot. At least - all my friend and me were. At age of 12, i realized a Panzerfaust rocket launcher replica. That was made out of cardboard and plastic tubes, to shoot at friends while playing with airsoft guns. I used fireworks as ammo. Worked quite well. We even experimented MLRS systems. Put 10 fireworks aimed at a defensive position and light them one by one. Deadly suppressive. Now when i think about it... I guess my brain wasn't completely developped. But Well... another 12 years later - i was working for one of the biggest paintball manufacturer. ^_^

QUOTE]more than 1 friggin map- multiple addon modules by third party developers (and the devs themselves)- one common 'base' for all the modules to work in together -more than 1 friggin map Unlikely to improve if sdk not released. - multiple addon modules by third party developers (and the devs themselves) Not that much studios. One studio going wild oisn t going to fix this. - one common 'base' for all the modules to work in together unlikely to happen. Some studio will release official content, some other will make mods that will need modified game to run. slight diference, but that is a bad news for MP games.

Jorgel, Maybe staff did wanted to limit speculation ? Questions spreaded in a lots of threads i n that subsection .

They had some trouble lately, and it came wild in thier subsection. I assume moderator has shutdown teir section until things are solved. I wont go into details about the issue since it seems its not something we should speculate about. But the section isn t deleted, just masked.

Ask a 3rd Party Dev - Live Broadcast Q&A - Jan 18th
Darkwolf replied to Ells228's topic in Community News
you sure you weren't in DCS:WW2 live ? :P Just kidding ;) I only could jump in a few minute as i had to move. I could look the hawk takeoff (you really have nice reflex, to dodge that plane in the runway :) ) Although i missed most of it, thank you for setting up that broadcast ! -
/me like :)

well you should not worry too much. Where the US wants to deploy they carrier, they'll do it whatever situation/treaty/law is around it.

Imagining a Gen 7 Air Superiority Fighter
Darkwolf replied to TraxusIV's topic in Military and Aviation
With the popularity of small portable SAM, i don't even see the point of fitting a canon on a ground pounder. 30mm work well against rebels but I wonder how it would turn against a serious army with Manpads everywhere. -
let's delete the carrier and cancel DCS : FA18C ;) :P

I did. (former firefighter). Simply said : No game engine or computer can render that volume of particle at the moment. Sad but true.

I'm not a big fan of that heli design. Too.... Round... But hell, with that paintscheme it's just real nice.

Well - Outerra basically represent the world and their forest, plus a few houses manually placed. That's all. I prefer largely DCS map than Outerra, which is graphically nice, but totally empty of everything. In DCS, they is towns, they is roads, powergrid, railroad.... All those objects needs to be placed manually. That's very time consuming, but result are far better than procedurally generated maps. I don't want to go further in the comparison because it's not the subject and it's not authorized here anyway. The point is : Creating a realistic map takes time. If you take a procedural generated map (like FSX, Outerra, etc... which takes elevation data, biome data, mix everything automatically), you end up with large scale maps, but they aren't as detailed and nice than map made out of sweat and tears. you often end up with repetitive pattern, weird results.... When you manually create a map, you have to place every building. I challenge anyone to do it for the whole earth. It's really more realistic, but it's not an easy task.

Well. TGP is already a killer in-game - I don't see the use of a sniper pod unless we got more detailled terrain. Hence, even if it would be a welcome addition, i don't see the point allocating dev' time on it. If ED ha that kind of time - it would be nice to add IR sights to tanks to begin with.

OMFG. Armed Cessna. So much awesomeness in a single picture

Multiplayer Stress Test Session - TODAY 4th January- 20:00 Zulu
Darkwolf replied to Groove's topic in Community News
Ok my wife in the control tower, cleared me for takeoff. On a side note, my ping may be erratic - it'll depend on where the server is. If it is too high for you, just let me know and i'll leave. Sometime it's just as good as other, sometime it's a nightmare. :( EDIT : found 5 pilots inbound -

Question regarding modules with two-seater aircraft
Darkwolf replied to Pajeezy's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Dangerous Waters and WW2OL had serious issue with netcode in multicrew mode. The same happened with FSX. They really need to be cautious with multicrew and eventually, fix MP first. -
Can you be an Infantry unit and walk around?
Darkwolf replied to robmuzz's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Chernarus scenery is nice, indeed. I still wonder why people do want infantry to be playable. On a gameplay point of view, it would be even less than delta force games. Flat land, without any cover (tree don't stop LOS or projectiles) and ground relief like 100m resolution. AI shoot you from miles away while you can't do no shit with your M4 / AK74 rifle. -
I wish him the best, but i see no point yet moving to another simulator. I'll stick to DCS and prey he'll merge the development to the engine. I think i remember that the mig21 project was initially in LUA, but ported to C++ finally.

Can you be an Infantry unit and walk around?
Darkwolf replied to robmuzz's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
ArmA series has horrible ground for infantry warfare anyway. whoever that already crawled in a wood will tell you about it. It's a great game overall, I still play it a lot, but infantry fighting sucks - the map miss "infantry scale relief", ie ditchs, rocks, foxholes, trenches and a lot of things i just don't know the exact word in english, but can provide cover to someone...... And before hanging me on a tree, i can assure i surely played more OFP/arma series than nearly anyone else here. (10hours average on a day every day, when i had computer addiction disease). I love that game - yet on a pure simulation stand point - the games lacks barely everything and is only suitable for basic WW2 fighting. So.... I don't think infantry fighting make sense in DCS, at individual level. I would prefer infantry to be simulated at platoon/squad. One squad is one entity in the engine, like in Combat mission and some other wargames. It would ease the pain for both mission editor and hardware, and look even better from the air. EDIT : yet, it would be nice to be able to be a pilot and enter aircraft and vehicle. I would love to start from the control tower, and then drive an UAZ to my Ka-50. :) -
Thanks for the pics, much appreciated Silver Dragon :)

Complainng because I do not have the minimum amount of RAM
Darkwolf replied to Focha's topic in Game Performance
It can run on 4go - it's working on one of my computer. But it doesn't goes that smooth. RAM doesn't cost that much nowadays - it's nowhere where it used to be at the old DDR1 era. Still a pain, but affordable nowadays. EDIT : Also - if budget don't allow to upgrade for now, you can still revert to an old DCS version and save some money. :)
