There’s a setting for afterburner detent. If that setting is enabled you have to push a button to go into afterburner. I’m second guessing myself now. I know there’s one for the hornet, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same for the viper, but I’m at work so can’t check it out.

Depends how it’s set up in the special options menu

F-16C is my worst performing mod?
ricktoberfest replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Hmm- maybe they’ve changed it since the last time I tried -

I don’t know why everyone keeps doing this, but turn off the lens effects unless you happen to be making a video or something. They are huge resource hogs. As for the rest, I have the f16 and while my frame rates are low, they’re low across the board- not especially bad with the f16 -
I meant the settings within DCS. If you don’t have oculus tray tool I strongly suggest it. I have it set to PD 1.5 and ASW off and the DCS PD to 1 My processor is an I5 3570k so I think you’re in the same cpu limited boat I am. You can try overclocking to at least 4.5 though and that might help somewhat. I’m at 4.5 ghz with mine.

First off- you probably have ASW enabled which limits the frame rate to 20, 40 or 80 FPS. You can turn it off either with the oculus debug tool (which you have to do every time you start windows) or with oculus tray tool via a game profile As for the changes in settings not doing much, what specific cpu are you using? If it’s an older I7 then you could be cpu bottlenecked which means your gpu isn’t being fully used and so higher settings are possible without it lowering frame rate. That has happened to me with an older I5, I can change a lot of settings but I never get above a certain FPS even if everything is as low as it can go. On the other hand I can have reasonable settings and still get 40-50 FPS single player and 30-40fps multiplayer.

Both the pre-buy and the final product should be 1092 feet long. ;)

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
ricktoberfest replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
The entire mod. I just changed my OVGME target to the root folder instead of the saved games folder. -
Double check the title in your control bindings. Maybe they only give one of them to new purchasers - idk.
-
If you look carefully, there should be a P51D-25 and a P51D-30. DCS counts those two versions as completely different planes, even though they are almost identical except for a certain antenna and radio

I think it has to be root folder. I initially tried the saved games folder and it didn’t work -
As far as the plane goes, there are 2 p51 now. Each version has its own controls. You probably set up the other one.

You must have the trim set up so that it doesn’t respond till you center it. Now that your using rudders as part of that they need to be perfectly centered too or your hotas won’t respond. If you don’t like it change the trim mode in the special options menu

Mapping the F keys

I would recommend that too, but I wasn’t sure if Vipryl had their own software. -
Mapping the F keys
ricktoberfest replied to Mr. Big.Biggs's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you’re trying to map those buttons to keyboard keys so they work for views and radio commands then joystick gremlin or a program like it is the way to go. If you just want all the view buttons in your Hotas then you can do that within the DCS commands menu Joystick gremlin is one of the easiest programs to use, but there may be a recommended program that came with your hotas In joystick gremlin you simply select the joystick button and then remap it to a keyboard button. Then whenever that profile is active pressing that joystick button is the same as pressing that keyboard button. It’s easy and no frills -
Could the lower FPS after 2.5.6, be because of windows version 1909?
ricktoberfest replied to GVO's topic in Virtual Reality
I’m on 2.5.6. Yesterday I had to start up in 2D to diagnose a mod not uninstalled properly. My frame rate in 2D @1080p was 140. When I got back in VR, the same I stand action mission was capped around 40. No ASW on and the only change was going through the rift S. Now I know VR takes more CPU and going from 1080 to whatever the rift was is an increase in pixels, but that seems like way too much of a difference. -
Also turn off the lens effects. They have a huge impact on FPS and they’re not realistic anyways. They’re there mainly for making videos and such from what I understand.

As far as connecting goes, I have a spot on my left mirror where I can glance without turning my head that I know when the hose passes through that spot I’m at the right orientation for connection. So it’s like when the hose is 1/3 the way down the mirror I just creep forward and it connects nearly every time as long as I’m slow and steady. Your marker might be different based on where your viewpoint is but this helps me not have to look around too much so I can concentrate on flying formation with the tanker.

How do i reset my Graphic settings after failed VR
ricktoberfest replied to KilRaven67's topic in Virtual Reality
If you download the updater utility by skatezilla it has an potential to start the program in VR or normal. Once your in it should be ok. I’m sure there’s a command line instruction too but I don’t know it -
Is there a way to get more saturated colors in the rift S
ricktoberfest replied to jozeff's topic in Virtual Reality
Haven’t tried it myself with VR, but in the Nvidia or AMD control panel there’s often a custom colour setting. The only issue I could see with doing it this way is it will affect your monitor too, but the AMD version at least allows me to set a custom colour per game profile. -
For those who haven’t looked yet, I just bought the AMVR face cover from amazon and it’s a game changer for comfort for me. The foam was too squishy and I ended up with the plastic often pinching my face, but this new cover is very comfy. In addition it doesn’t soak up the sweat so when my son plays a FPS and get all sweaty, I can just wipe it off Definitely recommend

Maybe they’ve given up on the S and are only selling the quest

Another thing I’ve been reading on the oculus forums is it might be related to firmware 2.2.2. Some people have downgraded a version and it works for them. I personally just got my Rift S at Christmas so it’s always been on this firmware and done this for me. It’s not so annoying to try and force a downgrade yet for me

F-16C Arab Spring Campaign And why in earth would the US prop up Iran? Maybe it should be Indian F16s helping or something along those lines -idk. Plenty of other countries use the f16

I went through this buying a powered hub. For some reason my rift S still comes up as disconnected but if I load to windows, then do a power reset through windows it seems to wake it up. It’s a bit annoying but much less so than climbing behind the computer every time. Some sort of startup “feature” in the bios probably not powering up properly the first time it starts- that’s my guess. The other thing I’ve heard is that it might be related to having an AMD gpu
