Rudder pedals recommendation/advice
ricktoberfest replied to Phil73805's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have the thrustmaster pedals and I wouldn’t recommend them, but not because of how narrow they are (you get used to that really quick), but poor build quality and stiction issues I’ve had. They don’t move very smoothly when I have my feet sitting on them (with weight) and nothing I’ve done has helped much. I’ve had some of the plastic parts break and so I’ve had to use elastics to make the toe brakes return to off when my foot isn’t pushing them. Oh, and they are only a year old. Having said all that they are the cheapest and get you into the rudder game so it might still be worth it to you, just don’t expect them to last more than a year or 2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
and how did you notice??? Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod

So far updates have come in the form of new zip files at the same place you download it now. No idea on the skin I think the smaller pipper is from in development and not part of the released mod. The videos I saw with it were all over a year old Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

That happens to me sometimes. Either restart the mission or restart DCS. (I’m not sure which it was that fixed it for me) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Nope. Tried it but it didn’t work for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
One thing to note, the AI are really hard to beat (at least for the BFM campaign), and it’s not a training campaign- it’s a skill testing campaign. In other words, get good at dogfighting first, do go in expecting to win dogfights right from the start. I end up in a draw (or forcing the enemy below the hard deck) more than a straight win. You bought a product that is downgraded from the full modules. When those aircraft were programmed initially there wasn’t even a DCS World. YouTube is your friend. If you want real training missions buy a “real” module such as the A10C. As far as where the missions take place, would it really make sense to make all the training missions for a map that many people don’t own? Caucuses is free so it makes sense that all training missions (unless it’s a DLC campaign) take place there. Many other people than you would be pretty pissed if they had to buy the Persian gulf map just to learn their planes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just as a quick question from someone who doesn’t know any better.. Why is the parking brake such an issue? It would seem to me such a simple thing that would allow starting from the carrier and preventing the sliding. I was able to rearm on a carrier by holding the brake key, but of course I couldn’t restart my engine after shutting it down (and it wouldn’t rearm with the engine running) Again- just a question, not a complaint. I’ve been having a blast with it for the last couple days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The unzipped file of course. Why else would you unzip it if you weren’t gonna use it. The zipped file is simply a way of compressing it to take less space for downloading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You should try and then let us know. Odds are there might be some shader compatibility issues though It’s free though so no harm in trying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m pretty sure the Hornet is 600 as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First did you align the INS? Second the INS switch should be on IFA when flying, not NAV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Manual Startup: HUD won't show VSTOL/Eng info.. (SOLVED)

You need to align the ins Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sorry- I wasn’t arguing with you, just trying to figure out which program he is using to be able to help him. I use facetracknoir and it works fine once it’s configured properly. It works with the tracking clips and hats too (one day I’ll make one). The only issue I have with it is that it tracks eyes and mouth to determine face position. When you take a drink or rub your face or somehow obscure it from the camera it can get messed up when it finds your face again. A quick stop and start of the tracker and it’s back to normal. I have a couple buttons on my mouse programmed to 1. Freeze the tracker, and 2. Reset the tracker Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Facetracknoir doesn’t require internet access while running so that can’t be it. Which program is it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They used to be separate, but now you have the main DCS World program and all the aircraft are expansions or add ones you buy. Try out the base game and see how well it works on the free stuff before you go and spend money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Except that those flying the WW2 fighters are the ones complaining the most about this. And it’s often not finding a plane, but having eyes on it as it fades to invisible right in front of you. I’ve turned on dot labels on single player because I was getting frustrated and stopped playing air-air on anything without a radar. Now I’ve got at least a small chance against the all-seeing AI. Realistically I’ve had big targets start to show around 30 miles and smaller ones at around 20- assuming the radar is pointed correctly at them. Haven’t checked for awhile though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do I disable Engine Start Up Onscreen Text?
ricktoberfest replied to WillyNilly's topic in DCS 2.9
Start manually Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The thing that really helped me in both the Huey and the Hip was making a much slower/smoother transition from cruise to hover. I always tried to do it like on the videos of Vietnam but it takes a lot of skill to go from 100knots and flying to landed that quickly and accurately. Skill I don’t yet have. Every time I tried I ended up in VRS and crashed. Now I do a much slower transition and then it works great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

K-74M (izdeliye 750) - to match up AIM-9X
ricktoberfest replied to D4n's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The answer is that ED doesn’t care about balance (nor should they) cause this is a sim- not really a game. If you want balance then get the server to make a mission that doesn’t allow aim-9x or, like someone else said just have everyone flying the same aircraft with the same load out. Instead of creating fictional missiles just limit the ones available in the mission. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Actually having switched from twist to rudders a few months back, it was actually much easier hovering with the twist. I do really enjoy the realism of the pedals though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I find if you make constant very small corrections then it helps you keep ahead of the airplane. Don’t wait for that movement to become large or you end up over correcting. It’s still very hard to be stable though. It’s like driving a car straight. Usually your hands are constantly correcting you just don’t realize it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Huey. It’s the most basic one and you fly it almost entirely by hand. No autopilot to get in the way (except for the cheat autopilot) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
