Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
AbortedMan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
The only thing I can think of is having a set range of time that the mission persistence and objective ownership counts...like the map objectives can only be moved during primetime hours (however these are set) based on the average hours that there are equal people on each team. The objectives would be frozen, or reset on map restart, outside of those hours. I don't know, just spitballing here. The TAW campaign server on IL2:BoS used a quorum population ratio limit mechanic to enable objectives, but this kinda backfired and discouraged people joining the server when quorum wasn't met. Not sure how it would work here. -

Next issue: Team population balancing. How do we regulate or balance the teams so it's not a 1 vs 20 landslide for either red or blue? It's not fun either way. -
Problem: 2nd BK90 MJ2 not coming off of rails I just ran a bunch of scenarios where I was testing BK90s and found that when I have 2x MJ2 BK90s loaded the 2nd one does not deploy under any circumstance. Single or series mode both don't matter. I recreated the same scenarios with MJ1 and Mix in both DCS versions 1.5 (stable) and 2.0 and both projectiles can launch just fine. MJ2 seems to have an issue deploying multiple projectiles.

You should also confirm that when you have a "working" compass that it's accurate by clicking on your icon in the F10 map and checking your heading against what you're seeing in the cockpit. Every instance I've seen as of late the radar compass has been significantly inaccurate and still bugged though it moves. -

+1 vote for Mistral. L is not needed if we have armed Huey. -

That's a video of the cold start Instant Action mission in singleplayer, but it's identical to the issue seen online (It's not my video). Sabuli road FARP has one Viggen (#6) slot that seems to have an unlocked compass, but it's significantly inaccurate and rendered unusable for weapons systems. Tested by comparing heading in F10 map to what I'm seeing in-cockpit. The Viggens at Gudauta are all broken as well. All tests that I've done creating my own missions with cold start Viggens show the same issue. All tests that I've done with hot start Viggens do not exhibit the issue. Heatblur is aware of the problem and has reported that it will be fixed in the next update for 1.5 (it's not an issue in 2.1), but I don' think anyone knows when that is. -

A player can have low ping and still have packet loss which would lead to warping as the server and client tries to negotiate player state/location. Most people's Wifi setup is all the default config so they're competing with a ton of other devices that are interfering...this is on top of all the signal reception challenges. I'm not sure how DCS handles its data transfer, but it almost sounds symptomatic of a point to point infrastructure. Anyway, I sometimes see a .5 to full second pause when troops are dropped into combat by someone else. Not always, though. When the game resumes I'm .5 to a full second further in my flight path so this may be a memory/texture caching hiccup rather than a network issue. -

Wtfffffff? What is it that makes you want to argue everything I post? You think because I disagree with you about the Su27 that I'm a bad person and just want to troll? -

Here is a video: https://youtu.be/C0_wlALA_Yo?t=60 Sometimes the radar compass unlocks and calibrates to a point of ~50 degrees off your actual heading. Sometimes it doesn't unlock at all and always shows a heading of North. If you're not seeing these issues please let me know how you're achieving this, because even the Instant Action cold start mission is bugged, 104th server is bugged, OpenConflict server is bugged and it's the same result for other people I fly with. Mavericks don't require navigation system to deploy, so they're not affected. M71 bombs, ARAK rockets, and especially the BK90s are not usable in this state. -

@Ciribob, just something to add to the list...the Viggen navigation systems (required for deployment of most of its weapons) are disabled due to a bug when spawned as a cold start. Spawning with engine on fixes this as a workaround. If you find time during your next mission editing session would it be possible to make this change? -
No, rudder trim is also not working for me.

Why are you acting as if there isn't an issue? You've personally replied on the other bug report threads discussing this very issue. Please explain how my post (or any of my posts) was a flame to anyone. If I've been offensive I apologize and would like an explanation of how. I am just looking for current information on fixes for the module I purchased in the thread that was created to give current information on fixes for the module I purchased. With regards to the blue flag thread, you mistake a difference in opinion and discussion to support said opinion as flaming. Just because people are disagreeing doesn't mean anyone is a bad person. -

You misunderstood...there is a bug that affects the radar compass and waypoint systems that locks them in place rendering the navigation system unusable in 1.5. It is extremely difficult to fly as it is intended in multiplayer with these limitations. You are stuck using mavericks since everything else relies on the targeting/nav computer. Try the cold start mission in the instant action and you'll see what I'm talking about. If it doesn't get broken for you please let us know what you did so we can try to recreate a workaround. -

Any chance we can get this thread updated with the upcoming fixes? Viggen is almost unplayable in its current state and I'd like to get some visibility on the upcoming improvements. -
Ughh this is frustrating seeing my compass locked at 0 degrees...and strangely when I fly it on Blue Flag server it seems to not be locked, but it's about 50 degrees off where it should be from startup rendering the navigation and its related weapon systems completely useless. When the compass does magically start working (albeit with ~1-3 degrees error in the indicated direction) the last BK90 not firing bug is back again, it seems.

How on Earth can you justify this suggestion of adding a long range missile in a mission where no long range missiles are available? Why does anything need to be made any more appealing on Red???? If you don't like the Red aircraft, don't choose Red! -

This doesn't need to be tit for tat balancing. Yes it does. If something does not work, try something else. Why does this need to be explained? I think that's where we disagree on gameplay. It isn't hard. Both teams can have their strengths and weaknesses and do not need to be mirrored. That would separate this mission from other missions and it looks like it was the original goal of the creators until people started providing feedback that didn't align with that vision. Example: Ka50 is a capable ground attack aircraft (A-10 with rotors and goes almost as fast). That's a strength of Red. A-10 is a capable ground attack. That's a strength of blue (or at least, should be since Red has it for some reason). Both are equally capable given the current setup of transit times/spawn location and their combat capability. -

Server disconnects clients, but the clients don't recognize it's disconnected for about 45 seconds...so you were probably actually disconnected when you attempted to return your life. I don't think anyone is advocating for mixing all of the airframes between both teams. I don't want that. I think it's too mixed already. Mirage should be on one side, A-10 should be on one side, not shared. Limiting aircraft types to a team is not the only way to balance a mission. Player feedback is substance, whether it aligns with your personal preference or not. The Viggen can SEAD if you have intel from other players providing coordinates. The Su25 being the free airframe, I feel it should be on both sides to get maximum server participation. I'm not sure how common it is, but I'm sure there are people out there that play on BF that only have the TF-51 and Su25. Which is why it should be clarified what the goal of this mission is...emphasis on realism/East vs West coalitions or pure PvP balance. If it's the latter, then the current Mirage infestation is the ideal scenario for balance since everyone would be on an even playing field in fighters. Since I don't think that's the goal, the mission should be balanced in other ways than giving airframes to both teams...something like the availability of specific aircraft slots, their spawn locations, or putting them in a separate class of lives. In any case, what needs to happen is people that play only one team need to stop talking in absolutes and declaring that the airframes they're using are completely useless in every way shape and form and requesting changes be made to suit their advantage. If you really want balance, request that the mission be made so that everyone can only fly one type of aircraft so no one has any excuses. -

Please show me the way without getting shot down. Also, I've never seen the gunners actually hit anything. I usually have them set to free fire to seek out threats, but by the time they're tracking/firing it's usually too late. -

"It is what it is"...so do nothing about it? Or mock the people that care to cite the issues they feel need attention to improve the experience? Come on man, why the vitriol? ABRIS is a thing that is in the game, and that's fine, if any semblance of balance is the goal of this mission then something needs to be catered around the fact that one team has a significant advantage when it comes to helicopter operations and combat. If balance is not the goal and we're just rolling with whatever East vs West modules are available to us then I think that should be stated (and this is obviously all moot). Am I being criticized for citing the disparity between one helicopter's ability to single-handedly take out an entire airfield alone while also effortlessly giving the player exact enemy unit locations vs the slowest helicopter in the game with only basic navigation assistance and not even enough ordnance to take out a FARP? We want people to play these roles because they're integral to the operation of the mission...no one is going to do that if it's completely out of whack and the time:reward ratio is way off. This is the case right now on Blue team. I noticed this about Blue team while I was playing Red for the last two months as well. Correct. ABRIS only shows what units are on the ground at the moment you enter the cockpit. I do not think it updates after that, though someone has told me that it will update via DataLink if a player spawns in with a more updated map and you transfer information. I have not personally confirmed this, though. -

ABRIS takes a snapshot of all the units on the map when the Ka50 spawns. A Red player doesn't even need to take off to get this information. Just needs to start up, turn ABRIS on, navigate to map screen and zoom out, take note of all the blue units in the area or in their desired path and adjust accordingly. ABRIS magical info along with DataLink makes fog of war element nearly non-existent for Red team...but blue gets the awesome AIM7 and F15 so it's all good, right? Oh wait. I mean well blue gets the Gazel...ah, damn...well at least it call in bombe...oh darn...the Huey is kinda ok...hmm...what's the top speed of the Mi-8 again?
