Can't understand why... Reminds me one old joke, by the way: A woman goes to fortune teller. After looking into her crystal ball, the fortune teller is horrified and says: "Your decision will cause deaths of millions." The woman is of course disturbed beyond words, comes out of the parlor, and sees a young boy about to be hit by a tram. "Well, maybe I'll kill millions, but I will at least save this one!" says she to herself and runs towards the boy. She pushes him out of the track at the last moment, saving his life and dying under the tram herself. People start gathering around the scene, including a policeman. He asks the boy: "Are you alright, kid? What's your name?" "Adolf Hitler", replies he innocently... I know, a little bitter humor...

Over here! :bye_2: Now only how I'm going to explain to my Huey that I met some other helicopter... ;)
-
So basically, the most important and anticipated point of the whole Friday update was actually posted outside the official update thread? No probs, just nitpicking... Yeah, and then Dora, Hawk, hopefully L-39 and then even more stuff. I think we won't get short of flyable aircraft any time soon. Although there is no modern fast jet (except those FC3 simplified ones) coming in the near future. F/A-18 was thought to be the first one to make it, and now it seems so far away... I guess it sucks to be supersonic jets fan these days. At least we helicopter guys will have enough toys to play with...:P

For those of us who still remember original Operation Flashpoint: :D
-
Carpal tunnel syndrome? Just guessing though. If it persists, you should really consult your doctor. However, I wish you to get well soon, and hopefully it won't be anything serious.
-
Wow, those smoke trails look just like real ones! And also good to hear about Mi-8!
-
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention... We want it NOW. :D On the more serious note though, if there was a high fidelity sim of Su-27SM, Su-35 or Ka-52, I'd buy any of them at this very moment without thinking about it twice. But we have to keep it real, it won't happen any soon (if ever ). I won't pretend I'm not disappointed by the news, but, I'm pretty sure that even basic Su-27S will be a total blast. If simulated as deeply as Ka-50 and A-10C, it's still my dream coming true. A real pinnacle of the Flanker series, as realistic as there is almost nowhere to go any further. Sad about the SM, but still looking forward to the S as kid before Christmas.
-
Hah, what do you think? Of course we want Su-27SM, and by that, I mean fully and precisely modeled one! Or even better, Su-35! We are Flanker fanboys, you know... :smilewink: Well, I think I will have to settle with S variant then.
-
And I was looking forward SO MUCH to fly a multirole Flanker one day... I mean, I will buy any DCS-level Flanker at the day one no matter what, but no R-77's, no MFD's, no A/G guided weapons, no nothing? Sad day indeed. However, thank you Wags for keeping us updated, no matter if good or bad news.

Just WOW. These are beautiful!

steam and ED DCS World reg key's
Rotorhead replied to 71st_Mastiff's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
OK. Haven't bothered with reading this whole thread, so pardon my possible ignorance, but this is the impression I got: IIRC, when ED first announced Steam integration, it was said that only new buyers will benefit from it, so no way to turn your old modules bought in ED shop into Steam-integrated modules. Quite a few people were sad about this, because they wanted their modules to be integrated into Steam, but not for the price of buying them again. Now, here comes news that Steam integration of our old modules is possible. I don't know, but it seems to me that somebody from ED had to negotiate with Steam pretty hard to make it happen. And here we go again. ED tried to make their customers and fans happy by doing something they want, and instead of them coming and saying "Thank You", they rush in with pitchforks and torches, spreading conspiracy theories (as bright, substantiated and logical as conspiracy theories always are), and start blaming both Steam and ED. Sometimes I'm really wondering why are ED doing what are they doing for community like this. As for me, I'll give this one a miss. Yes, I do use own some games on Steam and have no problems with it whatsoever, but I can't see any single benefit of transferring my DCSW into it. However, if it brings more customers to ED, I'm all for it. -
As already said, the old Flanker variants don't have AAR or advanced A/G capabilities, it's the new ones that do. Although I'd love to have one of this more advanced Flankers modeled to full DCS glory! I do agree on the cobra though. As you mention, it's Su-27 signature maneuver and it's a sort of must have for me. You don't have Flanker if you don't have Cobra! :joystick: And about the Eastern vs. Western stuff. I was concerned about the same thing too, but now, we are (hopefully soon) getting Mi-8 and MiG-21 from 3rd party devs. L-39 is in development as well and Beczl plans his next plane to be a Mig-23 IIRC. Although with simple avionics (boring :ermm:), Su-27, 25 and 25T will all at least have AFM and 6DOF cockpits in due time. And ED says that a full-DCS Flanker is planned at some point in the future. So I think it's not that bad time to be an Eastern planes fan. :)

Actually it's much better now.
-
Lol, the same could be said about me and the Huey, but how can you say no to the total Belsimtek awesomeness? Now I am a happy Huey pilot and feel good that way. :) And, my only answer to the question "Why Mi-8" is "Why the hell not?!" :D Can't wait to get my hands on that one guys!
-
Wow, what a nice and passionate discussion have we here! I will better not get involved, I'll rather leave it on local aerodynamic experts... :smartass: But one thing I want to say, I really hope that Cobra will be possible with the new AFM. I don't really care how much useless is it, or how rarely people use it. The real Flanker can do it and I would love to see my simulated Flanker to do it too - especially because most of my DCS flying consist of leisure flights, aerobatics, or just fooling around. In fact, I bought FC3 only to enjoy the AFMs (especially the Flanker's) and I hope they will be as real as possible.

Ok, to sum up my feelings about today's update: The good: -6DOF pit for Toad. Not that I actually fly her, but looks pretty good nonetheless. -Engine smoke effects. Look nice and add realism. Me likes! -And Mi-8 in 1.2.6? Woooooooa! :rotflmao: The bad: For me, personally, it's the lack of info about performance - currently DCS' biggest sore. Not much to expect here before EDGE I'm afraid. And by the way, DCS and Steam achievements, really? Can't wait to get Senior Experienced Chute Rider Achievement - for successfully ejecting 1000 times. Ah well...
-
Well, guys if you really can't wait that much so you have to create a thread ways before the actual update, then at least do us a favor: Mods, or even better, the OP, should edit the first post with something like "relevant discussion begins with post #36" or so after the update comes out. Saves our time reading through "I can't wait OMG so excited" stuff.
-
It's evidence of nothing. ED clearly said that DCSW is not era-specific. So, there's no such thing like WW2-focused. There will be WW2 modules, Cold War era modules, modern day modules, and I think it's best that way.:pilotfly:

The July 26th Wags Update! Thread
Rotorhead replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
That's EPIC! :megalol: -
Remove or rename file smokecloud.pfx from C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Effects\PFX\low or ..\medium or ..\high depending if you're using Low, Medium or High settings. Or do the same operation in all these three folders to be sure. That should do it IIRC.

DCS 1.2.5 Released, Update 2 Released
Rotorhead replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Great! Thanks ED for your hard work. And... ..thank you Wags for the heads up. It prevents some unnecessary questions, and I'm glad to be informed. :) -
This. And this. Already seen this documentary some time ago. Of course every country in the world likes to talk about the highlights of their weaponry and remain silent about its flaws, but overall, it was a good film with many interesting facts to learn about this great and beautiful plane.
-
 Ah, stupid me, you're right. Simmers are never happy. But maybe some of us will be at least a bit happier. ;)
-
It seems to me that golden era of DCS begins now. The so much awaited image generator, which many have already written off as "Nevadaware" ;), should arrive by the end of this year. More maps from ED and 3rd parties will hopefully follow. New (and well deserved) 3D model for Su-33, that everyone requested for so long, is coming as well. Another one for Tu-22. Beczl's Mig-21 should make it by the end of this year too. Dora is another plane to come and already looks fantastic. Hopefully, work on F-18C continues as well. Belsimtek's Mi-8 is said to be on a pretty high level of completion, and Huey is waiting for quite a few updates, including things like troop transport etc. And I haven't even mentioned other 3rd party devs. I believe that soon, all of us simmers will be very happy. :)
