  1. For ED's idea of what the advanced flight model is, its described in the Su25T pdf manual.
  2. The AFM's sound just fine as starters for me at a small additional cost and very reasonable IMO. The Su25 AFM is a joy to fly and having that level modeling on the F15 and Su27 as well can only be an improvement. When the full DCS level models come along later then great, a lot more avionics to learn as well. Its early days and we can see a path that will take this sim into the next few years expanding its original scope to cover various time periods. It gives us options which again can only make it better in the long run and improve its long term viability.
  3. Sounds very "gamey" to me and not suited to a more realistic simulation environment which is one of the main points I like about DCS. No offence, it sounds great for a light quick action type of set up like BF3 but I don't think the DCS community or the more serious simulation flyers are that way inclined.
  4. Love the new sound in SU25
  5. Cool, nice job. I did the same sort of thing as well with the bits from an old Wingman Extreme 3D joystick. Works really well too.
  6. I don't what the engine is or how good, there is only so much you can do with a home PC system, even a current gen good one. The more you populate the environment with dynamic battlefield objects and multiple human participants in aircraft, tanks etc. over uncertain net speed connections there will be a point at which no matter how good it looks the sim environment will hit the proverbial brick wall. No engine can avoid that. Maybe when we all have optic fibre to the door and the server can run and track thousands of events per second in real time will we get that ultimate sim environment ie. a realtime online battlefield with realistic physics from the comfort of our homes. One day... For now, I look forward to seeing what EDGE can do and how it will handle a big battlefield.
  7. Awesome! That is good news. A weekly bag of crumbs for the hungry pigeons. I wonder what will happen if there is a delay in the weekly update? oh no...
  8. This sort of thing currently works in IL2 by having sound files in a specified directory for a radio tower object and when your in the air you can tune in and its there playing away. Why call external apps? As mentioned already above its a system that works fine.
  9. I think you sold a rig that a lot of people would still consider as something to UPGRADE to, not sell. If you can manage regular upgrades from that kind of spec machine, way to go!
  10. Gudauta isn't much better. Still in military use but looks like its been a very long time since anything aviation related has been there. Note not a trace of rubber on the strip and overgrown taxiways to aircraft bunkers that aren't in use. Lots of trucks parked there though and storage. Maybe a supply or engineering unit occupies it now?
  11. Its my understanding that Outerra is a full world engine capable of flight from ground level to space and detailed ground vehicles. I thinks its just waiting for a sim developer to buy in.
  12. A lets speculate on the release date poll?
  13. If your still on 32 bit then please do yourself a favour and upgrade to at least Win 7 64 or better or plan too soon! I was able to run BS and A10C but not without a lot of problems and poor frame rates on my old PC. I too resisted upgrading just for the sake of it but when I did not only did all DCS modules run a hell of a lot better with much better frame rates and stability, everything else on my PC did too. It really is a great and pretty cheap PC upgrade and all your sims and applications will run better.
  14. I found the GOW campaign to be a good education on using the SU25T. You must be patient and plan your attacks as already stated above. Rush in too quickly and you WILL be shot down. The way points shown in the planner are just the straight get in and get out path to target and a lot of the time are a fast track to getting shot down. Look at the objective and enemy positions and plan alternative routes. If you get a good method going in that campaign it will also serve you well online.
  15. I agree with Trubshaw. Keep the plane nice and steady for launch and keep it stable for the laser while the missile is spiraling in to target. Slow down if you have to to stay back from AAA and ground fire. Very few misses for me with that method and if they do they are usually only just a fraction short.
  16. LOL. Chill M8! You never mentioned battle damage and in your OP, in fact you mentioned having full engine power to try and get back on the tarmac. A battle damaged plane rarely has that. Sure, if you you bring a shot up crate home and can walk away your a hero but that's a different story to overshooting from a bad landing or getting it out of line and running off isn't it?!
  17. The Mammoth Book of Fighter Pilots Edited by Jon E. Lewis 2002 Has a bit of everything from WW1 through to the Gulf told as individual pilot accounts.
  18. How about a car that drives up to your now ex multi-million dollar damaged aircraft now sitting like a wreck on the tarmac and takes you back to an immediate inquiry as to why you crashed it with a please explain why you should remain in the airforce!
  19. This looks great and a welcome addition! Just please make the damage modeling and the aircraft behaviour based on real hit data and not what "feels" or "seems" right. That may be asking for a lot but DCS has a high standard and it would be good to know that the 109 is still flying because you didn't damage the right system or you simply missed despite thinking you were getting a high hit rate. I'd hate to see a "50 cal's are porked" thread appearing here.
  20. Quick and easy. Got it from another thread here that I can't find now. Create a bat file with Notepad or similar app (eg. ModelViewer.bat) in your DCS World root directory and insert this line bin\ModelViewer.exe Save and run the bat file. Done.
  21. I saw this effect just the other day (Georgian Oil War campaign mission) but only to a small effect in a small patch just offshore. It looks like a reflection and tracks like one while watching it but what is it reflecting as there is nothing above? It appeared more pronounced down low and reduced in size as I get closer and higher above the specific area where it was happening. Using latest Nvidia drivers.
  22. This thread subject is like ground hog day. If it wasn't for impatience and groundless speculation this place would actually get kinda quiet.
  23. With the SU25T's advanced flight model I see it as already being a cut above the FC3 standard stuff. It just doesn't have the 6ODF cockpit and flight systems but still feels great when flying it! If we get a DCS:SU-25T then I would be very happy too!!
  24. I just upgraded to a new system and have been able to put all in game settings to highest levels with no frame rate drop anywhere so far. This is with default Nvidia settings so far as well. The look of the sim especially at early nightfall is simply stunning and flying at top settings at high frames rates down low or high just looks amazing. When DCS can run at its best it really looks fantastic!! I haven't begun to think of having to tweak the card settings for better looks or performance as yet as I haven't seen a need. I'm still drooling over whats there now.
