Black Shark 2 + Track IR 5, how well they work?
lokitexas replied to annoluce's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I got sick of messing with Freetrack. It is a good piece of software, and being free is even better, but having to tweak it quite a bit (software and hardware) got annoying. Tried FacetrackNoir. While great in theory, still has many issues. Try scratching your nose, or someone turning on (or off) a light near by. Totally gets everything out of wack. Bought TrackIR 4 from someone on Craiglist. OMG...it works. Just works. No more messing with settings or adjustments. Just plug and play. Highly reccomend it. -
Still only approx 30 FPS after graphics upgrade.

I agree, try 8x. I cant see much difference. -
How to Update DCS World to version 1.2.2 ?
lokitexas replied to ErichVon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thats the whole point of World version 1.2.1 and beyond....so you dont have to do it again. Thats why ED made the auto-updater. Pathetic is not realizing this before you post. -

It isnt a slouch either. I am getting a solid 60 fps in air and 40-50 on the ground with a 560ti. Basically what I am sayingis...it isnt the card. -
Ready to buy this....now. :pilotfly:

Not to come off like a jerk, but it isnt that hard to grasp how to install DCS World + Modules. I came into DCS World not too long ago (2-3 months maybe) and didnt have any issues with getting up and running. Just a little research before I buy, and this http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/world/ from the homepage. A quick glance at these forums with a sticky called "What is DCS:World". I am not a very techie person, so if I can get it...I am sure others can as well. Its not that confusing if someone takes 5 mins to read.

That would be a great addition.

I have full screen, as well as un-ticked disable aero, and still get black buildings.

My new rig - AMD FX8150 Bulldozer :D
lokitexas replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Really dumb? Going from a Pinto to a Camero, and then calling someone driving a Ferrari dumb, is well.....dumb. Sure the Camero is fast, but it still not in the same league as the Ferrari. You know, I am glad you are happy about your new system, but why even go insulting people? On top of that, why insult people when the fact that as of right now...Intel > AMD when it comes to CPU's? -

Umm....the x65 is from Saitek, and does resemble a real flight stick. -
Using whatver the latest verion is. I had to update my IntelHD graphics driver or whatever in order to get it to work. About the videos, there is nothing really to post. I was uploading them and it was a stupid amount of upload time for a 30 sec video.

Ok, has to be a fluke. I recorded a few tracks with VirtuMVP, and the FPS went from 54-60 down to 37-40's while recording. Ok, finished that. Disabled VirtuMVP and recorded with the same results. WTH? Uninstalled VirtuMVP and started up again...same results. WTH x2 now? Not sure what is going on, but yeah, seems something else was causing the huge slow down or huge FPS increase, because with VirtuMVP on or off, same difference. So here is what was done: 1. Installed World 1.2.1 got horrible fps. 2. Update after update fps got better, but not great. 3. Lowered AA from 16x to 8x, which I never had to do in 1.2.0. . Changed supersampling to multi, and AF to application controlled. 4. Installed VirtuMVP. 5. Everything worked like a champ in the fps department. 6. Uninstalled VirtuMVP. 7. Launched World Sukhumi Free Flight....horrible FPS again. 8. Installed VirtuMVP, fps back to great. 9. Posted here. 10. Doing what Aries asked, recorded the tracks with VirtuMVP 11. Uninstalled VirtuMVP. Still getting good FPS. :crash: Color me confused. Sorry to waste the time, but in 192 minutes, the video's will be on youtube lol.

BS2 1.2.x bugs and glitches thread (not CTD/BSOD)
lokitexas replied to Erforce's topic in Bugs and Problems
It happens alot. No attack commands work....not just in the first mission. -
Sure, I can try. Never used FRAPS. There is a free version yes?

Well, it is fluid motion. I am really, really surprised now. When I put this PC together I installed it, and read about it, but never saw a big difference when using it with other games. RoF ran the almost the same with it on or off. CLoD was the same. When playing ArmA with it actually seemed to cause issues. Needless to say I was desperate to get my FPS back up after the 1.2.1 and its updates, and figured I would try it again. I also changed some settings in Nvidia CP, as well as in game. I thought that was the cause of the huge increase. So I uninstalled it. Right back to low FPS. Installed it again...back to great FPS. So as of right now, Virtu MVP has more than doubled my FPS in DCS. This is odd. But I aint complainin.

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
lokitexas replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Ok, I cant put my finger on it, but it "feels" much better. Does that make any sense? From just looking cant tell a difference but moving my head its a natural flow. Bleh...talking gibberish, but this thing feels right. -
Someone says that every year a new MS os comes out.

Noticed that after I re-installed Virtu MVP my FPS in DCS went way up. Seems I thought it was the last update that did it, but nope, it wasnt. So the other day I uninstalled Virtu MVP, and back to low 15-25 FPS in Free Flight Sukhumi mission. Re-installed it, and the FPS shot way back up again. Now I hear good and bad things about VirtuMVP and its Vsync, and its performance booster. But going from 15-25 fps to 37-60 is pretty outstanding. Now are these real numbers, or just fluff? Anyone else try using this?

Looking forward to trying this tonight. -
If you can pick it up cheap, it might be ok. Nothing that you would invest much time in though. IMO of course.

I say this alot about CLoD. It wouldnt be such a huge letdown, if the potential of what it "could have been" wasnt so great.

Toshiba 40inch 1080p LED LCD. Love it so far.
