Damn....the sky is falling for some people? Seriously, if you think ED does a not-so-good job at communication, I am going to assume you have not dealt with many devs. (Oh hi there, Maddox). At least ED doesnt release something until it is up to par. Also, the fact Wags said...nothing has changed is an update. Obviously they are still working on FC3 to make it a good release. Good for us. People upset because there isnt a newsletter every week with what they are doing? Come on now. I would LOVE to see FC3 ready right now, at the same time, want it complete and as bug free as possible.

Saitek X65F vs Thrustmaster Warthog? Pros VS Cons
lokitexas replied to thinkr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
X65 owner here as well. Coming from a saitek X52 throttle and MSFF2 stick before the X65. Was looking for something with more buttons/switches. I was only flying prop style games, and had no need for more, but once I picked up DCS and BMS, I found I needed something more. I am very happy with the purchase. Solid HOTAS. Pros: 1. The stick and throttle both feel great with the metal construction. 2. Plenty of buttons and hats all over. Works great for the A10 and BS. Can configure to match the real controls pretty damn close. 3. Force Sensing. Was sketpical, but works great. The fact your stick does not move has worked out for me better than I thought. You can place it just about anywhere without worry of room. Also it seems with no mechanical movement it can last a long time. 4. Something not mentioned alot. You can replace the different hat switchs (castle, bowel, etc) on the stick and throttle around with a supplied allen wrench. A little detail that I totally love. 5. Cost. I was able to get it from Frys with a pricematch from an Amazon sales for $235. Yes it took about 45mins at the store to do it, but worth it. 6. The throttle attachement buttons. At first, it seemed it was more fluff than useful. After assigning commands to it, I find it to be another awseome addition that I cant live without. 7. Can be used with any flight game. I know the TM can be as well, but I like the fact the X65 is not crafted after one particular aircraft. The same way it felt odd to race a Shebly Cobra using my Fanatec Porsche wheel. Cons: 1. Throttle is stiff as hell for at least a week. After some use it feels much, much better. Some people may like it, I am not a fan of a stiff thottle. 2. SST software is not my favorite. It works, but its a pain sometimes. This is also due to my lack of willingess to learn it. 3. Force Sensing will take time to get used to. Took me about a week before I could control the BS without erratic behavior. ITs now second nature, and I dont even notice the stick isnt moving. 4. The stick is a bit big. I have to slide my hand up just a hair to hit some top hat switches. A hair shorter (or my hand a hair bigger) would have been awesome. I cannot comment on the TM. I have played with one in a store, not hooked up to anything, can can say it feels good. I know many who love it. -
Thanks Gunner. I believe I have used those settings before. I dont think its a setting issue as much as an optimization issue with 1.2.1 . I am getting decent fps, except in certain missions when certain things happen....like MLRS's shooting. Can you try your settings and monitor fps on "Battle" and "Gauntlet" missions for BS2?

I dont think you are even close to being a "jerk". Just excited. I would love to see more as well.
-
I have noticed this. This might be why some missions have this fluctuation.

This, I can agree with. Even when I played MMORPG's I only played with my static group, and never, ever played with PuG's. To this day, I hate pick up groups, and even with DCS only fly with people I know. For the exact reasons above.

Naw, subscritions model is old. It is now free to play with microtransactions for upgrades, more content etc. I guess I am not really asking why (its the same thing for asking why ANOTHER CoD) I am just missing some good offline stuff.

It seems every game is taking that step. MMO is the new direction. I remember when MMO meant Everquest and the likes. Then slowly ate up most RPG releases after that. The single player gameplay was on the decline because if it wasnt an MMO, it was not a huge deal anymore. This happened quite a bit with RPG titles, and the odd mix of a few FPS "style" games (WWIIonline, Planetside etc.). Fast forward again, and it seems tons of titles are going this route. War of the Roses, looked awesome to me, until I read that it is an online game. Chivalry got my interest, and then realized same thing. Then on top of the latest RPG's (Rift, GW2, etc. etc.) other game genres usually not known to go that route are going down that path. War Thunder, World of Tanks, rumored the next IL2, Star Citizen, etc. etc. What happened to the awesome offline modes of games and then the player made online? It always seemed to work great that way. Falcon BMS has such a great campaign, that spills over into online. OFF same thing. IL2 as well. Now it seems single player is an afterthought. A scaled down stepping stone in order to get you online. Dont get me wrong, I am not a hater of online play, I just miss a solid offline mode. I am still very much for the theory that a solid offline makes a better online. Take RoF and Cliff of Dover for example. Horrible and very thin offline, and makes the online ho-hum. In an age of XBox kiddies (no offense to anyone, I own one) it seems being able to jump into a quick, fast paced, shoot em up, to scream and yell, and smacktalk strangers is the new money making bandwagon. Will this shift again? Will people realize a pause button is sometimes better than a server that can hold 500 people? Sometimes getting caught up offline in a campaign or story sometimes can be more fun and not just very short ramp to push you into getting online ASAP? Just a random thought.

One minute it seems framerate is top notch, and then it takes a huge dive. Now, I do know some bombs, and ground rockets can cause these, but sometimes I am getting a solid 40fps then down to 15, and back up again with nothing around me. This is flying the Ka-50 during campaign missions (Oil War 2 I think). Dont get me wrong its tons better than when 1.2.1 first came out, but still jumpy. I hope this is still getting looked at, and not passed over.

What?? Thought that was how you became a mayor there?? :megalol: Here in Texas we always have the excuse "I was just helping the sheep over the fence." Look what the delay of FC3 has done to us.....look how low we have gone. End this by releasing it this weekend!

At least he said sacrafice them....could have been alot more gross...and illegal.

More subtle rain and snow effects
lokitexas replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Agreed. -
After you have BS2 installed into world, you can delete BS1. Note that if you need to reinstall the BS2 upgrade, you need to install BS1 again. Shouldnt be much of an issue anymore now with the auto-updater.

None of the FC3 aircraft with have clickable cockpits, including the F15. We have to wait for the 3rd party devs, and DCS:Fighter to get more for now.

[DCS World: BS2] Ricardo's Upgraded HD Cockpit Mods
lokitexas replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I am out of town, and the last time I updated was Sunday. If there has not been an update in the last 2 days, it works. -
Accidently bought 1.1.1.1 instead of 1.21

Actually $20. -

Well kind of. Once BS2 upgrade is installed into World, or standalone, you can delete BS1, with no issues. It is just there for a "check" to make sure you have BS1. If you need to reinstall BS2 upgrade, you need to install BS1 again. If I could do it over again, I would have just purchased BS2, not the upgrade. It isn not a huge deal anymore with auto-updater, but still. -
You can see why it was delayed now. They had to add the "plus" to FC3. :D
-
This. I purchased BS1 long ago on a steam sale. Also bought A10 on a steam sale a while back. I then purchased the BS2 upgrade from here. It all works together in World just fine.

Up and down with fps on every update it seems... This last one is lower, not by much but still lowered them. Also, black buildings are still going on, and the game still Alt-Tabs out at the begining of a mission. I assume this is the cause for the black buildings. Either way, hope these get looked at again.
-
For what it is worth, I feel bad for people with a loss in fps, but personally, I have had a huge increase in performance. HUGE. I am quite happy with the way ED handles things. It can only continue to get better, and grow. I am in full support of it.
-
No ground units, smaller maps (much smaller), less air traffic (again by far), unpopulated airfields, simple avionics, etc. So not really. RoF looks pretty, but is rather simple when it comes to a "war". It does fine in smaller type dogfights.
-
Good stuff. Thanks for the Wed. updates, its nice to see progress and the time taken to let us know whats going on. Soooo...by the looks of things I guess this will ready for DL next week, right? :P
-
Yeah, I would rather have FC3 and the Huey, no contest but.....they are not out anytime soon so I threw my cash at X-com for the time being. It was that or CA.
-
Beta? For X-com? I am playing the full game now. Its actually quite a blast once you start getting upgrades and whatnot.
