Something is wrong, we hit 200 pages, AND 2000 posts....why has this action not unlocked the FC3 download? ;)

Thats the exact way I felt about Torchlight. Not bad, just not my thing. Dont worry about the demo of Xcom, it turned most people off. Good thing is, the demo is not like the game at all. Only played for a bit, but so far so good. There are a few minor issues, but I have not come across anything gamebreaking...yet.

I totally understand DCS has "Game" control options. Its also tacked on, but works like a "game" mode. War Thunder has the "sim" option, but it doesnt work like a "sim". I gave it a fair shot, but just like what they did with Wings of Prey, they did to WT. Its an arcade shooter with WWII planes in airquake. Sadly, with the flop of Cliffs of Dover, I was really hoping WT would surprise me. Again, I am not saying it will be bad, but *I* found it to not be what I am looking for in a WWII flight combat game. Edit* Here is the discussion on WT, you can see most of this has been discussed. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93701&page=2

Another update? Nice. Hopefully a few more fixes.

The problem with War Thunder isnt the payment system...its the game. At least for me. If it was free I wouldnt play it. You know a flight game is not up to par (in my book) when it can be played better with a mouse and kb, or gamepad, better than a HOTAS. Arcade shooters are fine and dandy, but when you put "simulation control option" as tacked on to try and grab the sim crowd, you lose respect.

Flying the Ka-50 vs. Take on helicopters
lokitexas replied to Slazi's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
My feelings exactally. I am in the same boat. -
I played the Torchlight demo. Its ok, but *I* get bored with Diablo style clicky gameplay. Cool loot, and fast paced if you like that sort of thing. A bit reptative even after only playing the demo. I also purchased Jagged Allaince BIA about a week ago. With the new patches, its plays well, but the camera angle is frustrating as hell. Enemies seem to "cheat" but it could be I just suck. But I like the gameplay so far. It is tough though. I also just bought Xcom last night. Have not had a chance to play it yet, but looks promising.

I hope the No radio com's for wingman with the Black Shark, and framerate issues with the BS missions "Gauntlet" and "Battle", are considerd serious enough to fix before 1.2.2. Those are not small issues, imo.

Black Shark FPS Issues after latest patch.

Not a problem. Just seems like the BS is not getting any attention. This and the Wingman missing radio coms seems like deal breakers to me. -
Black Shark FPS Issues after latest patch.

Ok, played "Battle" and can confirm frames take a serious hit about 10 seconds into the mission. Getting about 10-15 fps on this mission. Usually getting 35-60 on other mission and Oil War campaigns. Definitly an issue here. -

I will give it a go later today and post results. Is "Battle" just a quickstart mission? -
Black Shark FPS Issues after latest patch.

We have similar spec machines, and the only way I got a decent fps back is switching anisotropic filtering in nividiaCP to application controlled. That really helped me out. Try that see if there is any difference. -
That is awesome. Thanks.

I kept hoping that CLoD would deliver eventually...it never did. Even with the latest beta patch is still a huge mess. To top it off, they devs finally said yeah, it is horrible, but we cant make money off it, so if you want fixes, you have to buy our sequel. No thanks. Id rather wait for DCS to make something, that actually works, or play modded IL2, than fork more money over to 1C that has not yet completed the game that was released over a year ago.

Commands to AI wingman in campaigns is gone with the latest 1.2.1 World. You can communicate with flight, and if you have 1 wingman, you have no options to communicate. If you have 4 wingmen, you can communicate with wingman 3 and 4. Another bug that I cannot reproduce is with one wingman, giving commands with the "flight" menu, any attack order will be declined. From datalink targets, to attack my target, to attack ground targets, etc. are all replied with a negative. Seems 2 out of 5 missions this happens. Makes it hard to do a campaign when you are the only "active" aircraft and your wingman is just following you like a puppy.

Nice.

Bug or "feature"....up to ED to decide I guess :smilewink:

Thought it was just me, but yes. Seems once you get hit, no matter how severe, or where, systems start shutting down.

I cant stop flying the Ka-50. As much as I keep telling myself Ill learn the A10, I just cant get into it the way as the Black Shark. The second place airframe is the SU25 just for the fact I never really heard of it before DCS. The P-51 is not even close to my favorite WW2 fighter (give me a FW190A4-8) and I will be all over it! Combined Arms is a good step in the ground/command area as well. With that being said, I am happy with everything that is in DCS. The P-51 proved they can do a prop WWII era plane, Ka-50 proved they can do a Heli, and A10 obviously they can do a strike jet, and I have no doubt the new DCS fighter will be the gold standard again. With those bases covered, they can move into any area. The DCS "World" is not going ot be limited to this or that, but actually emcompass a "world" of combat sims, so I am happy. I see DCS becoming huge. Want to fly a WWII mission....ok. Want to fly jet A2A...ok. Anything else you can think up can be done. Good thing, I am hoping the saying "DCS World can do it" for when anyone wants a to fly a sim no matter what era, or kind. Bad thing, if DCS does become this huge playground, competition will drop off, and standards could go down the tubes. Ok, just spouting some thoughts.

Not able to control all my Wingmen in BS2 World...

This is getting annoying. -
Have you turned anisotropic filtering in nvidiaCP to application controlled? That helped me a ton.

Yes ED has been extremely good about the updates, and communication the past week. Glad everything is coming together and the issues getting stomped out rather fast. Autoupdater has been a great tool, and I am glad it is working so well. FPS has been addressed and fixed which was my main issue. The new little features are very cool as well. Love the new smoke trails for instance. To top it off ED is using Richardo' HS pits for FC3. Another salute to ED and users working together. Now use his KA50 HD cockpit as well, ED! Anyway, I am impressed with ED even though I am pretty new to the series. Looking forward to more now.
