Yeah, I did. Happened by accident though, probably when moving the throttle around. Both switches were set to OVERRIDE without me noticing. Flew around like that for at least a full day without noticing it...

Dunno, I´ve been to Nevada only once (and spent most of that time in Las Vegas to boot, being a proper tourist and all), but I quite liked what I saw terrainwise. Sure, there are stretches of boring desert (which are sometimes quite beautiful in themselves though), but there is also a metric shitload of very interesting stuff: Mountainous, sometimes snowy terrain in the north, blistering heat in the south, Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam with its cool new bridge across it, and of course aviation nirvana: Nellis, Reno, Groom Lake. I can think of several countries that have fewer attractions than that one single state alone. Of course I can also think of several areas in the world that would turn into better maps for a combat sim than Nevada, but boring? Boring it´s not. I´m looking forward to it, but I can also wait till it is done. P.S. One one my coolest experiences in life was driving up here to this very spot in the middle of the night and watching a flight of B-1s taking off with full burner. That powerful blueish-white flame coming out of the back of those monsters in the pitch black, that roaring sound of freedom as it washes over you... whoa. Still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Best place on earth during those few moments.

What´s an RGB? Do you mean an RPG ?

Or the fuel went up. Looks as if the chopper was already burning a little while going down, maybe the fire ate through the tank. It does look like a typical fuel explosion to me (I´m a firefighter in RL), a bomb wouldn´t create such a pronounced fireball.

Dear Mr. Falcon, while I fully understand your position, I must regretfully answer your request as follows:
-
Yeah I know, hence my I just believe it´s a good habit to make it a SPI for a moment before you create a mark point, just so everyone else around you can see what/where you are looking at (provided you broadcast your SPI, of course) and maybe make that place a mark point of their own.
-
I´d just like to note that - at this point of time - I am not for sale. Thank you for your understanding. :D

Umm, dude, why are you asking this in two different threads? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1580141#post1580141

Am I the only one seeing (in my mind) a Hellfire descending down on those guys in the first pic?

The real pilots sucks it up and lives with it. All he can do is switch between night and day and play around with the INTEN toggle at the UFC.

To add to what I said above: You can NOT create mark point "Z". This mark poinit will always be created automatically and designates the last place you have employed a weapon. Every time you employ a new weapon, a new mark point Z will be created. Also, check out the video Peter posted, it explains the process quite well. It´s always hard to understand something like this in the written form and I am aware that my explanation sounds rather complicated. With enough practice it does become second nature however, and soon enough you don´t even think about the single steps anymore, you just more or less do them through muscle memory. Last but not least, check out the pic I attached to this post. I found it somewhere in these forums (mad props to whoever created it) and it tremendously helped me learn the switchology. Maybe it is of use to you as well.

TMS short right. EDIT: Okay, I guess I shouldn´t be as brief. ;) What you need to do is this: - When you have selected a target, make it your SPI by pressing TMS long up (not really necessary, but a good habit nevertheless) - Press TMS short right to turn that SPI into a mark point (an offset mark point, to be precise. You can also create fly-over markpoints, but that´s not important right now) - Every press of TMS short right creates a new mark point (starting with Mark A, then Mark B, Mark C and so on...), you can create up to 25 mark points before the old ones get overwritten again - At your AAP (Auxilary Avionics Panel, right below the CDU), move the STEER PT switch to MARK (it´s usually set to MISSION when you start up) - With the HUD as your SOI, you can now switch through the mark points by pressing DMS short up for the next mark point and DMS short down for the previous mark point. Of course you can also use the STEER toggle at the UFC or the one at the AAP, no matter what your SOI is at that point.

Annoying activation boxes on new dcs world
Cookie replied to morgon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
In that case this is the wrong sim for you anyways. -
Which is why I boycott Hasbro to this very day.

Hey Priest, welcome to the forums. :) Well, don´t be. ;) Just last night I had a guy come online asking the key shortcuts to start the engines. It was his first time ever (!) running the sim. By the end of the night, we had him up and running (well, kinda) through a combined team effort. By and large this is a really nice and helpful community, and as long as you are willing to learn and don´t back out when it comes to reading manuals, watching tutorials on YouTube and browsing these forums, you´re golden. So yeah, if you are able to get the A-10 up and running and maybe even know how to employ a weapon or two, you can click on that multiplayer button with nothing to worry about. Don´t be afraid of not knowing enough yet. I myself have been playing this sim for more than eight hours most days for the last three months or so (I am a firefighter and had a pretty bad accident on duty which I am slowly recovering from, so I have plenty of time at my hands right now) and still feel like I have barely scratched the surface. There are so many more things I still don´t really know about, and new stuff pops up every single day. Heck, I´ll go out on a limb here and say not even Matt Wagner knows absolutely everything about his very own software. :D Anyway... just do it. Click that little button and go online. Once you have made that step, you will never look back. Just click "multiplayer", log in with your ED account data (or register, in case you don´t have an account yet), choose a server that looks interesting and click on "join". That´s pretty much all there is to it. After you have made your first steps online, you may wanna check out one of the many virtual squadrons out there. There is a list somewhere around here, I´m sure there are squadrons near your place (the US, I assume?). That way you will have people you can ask things right away while still in the cockpit and of course people you can fly with on a regular basis so you can communicate via TeamSpeak, making the learning experience even easier. Whatever you decide to do though, just click on that magic little button and get ready for the ride of your lifetime! :joystick:

Speaking of sightseeing, there´s a thread over at airliners.net you guys need to check out. It´s a trip report to Georgia made by a guy from Finland. It´s a long, long, long read (you have been warned!) and contains an incredible amount of really cool pictures. It gives you a neat idea what life in Georgia is like. The link is http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/trip_reports/read.main/224262/ Important: Make sure you click on "Show all" beneath the first post, else you can just read the part about getting to Georgia (which is quite neat in itself) and not the part about Georgia itself. It´s a pretty cool thread and actually made me see Georgia in a totally new light.

Oh, I didn´t actually know that, thanks! I stand corrected, Sir! :)

Yes, you can. No need to buy it again.

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Cookie replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
You forgot the "A" in front... :D -
Apologies for going a little OT, but are you sure about that? As far as troops on the ground in AFG are concerned, here are the top ten contributing countries as of a few weeks ago: USA: ca. 90000 soldiers UK: 9500 soldiers Germany: 4715 soldiers Italy: 3956 soldiers France: 3491 soldiers Poland: 2472 soldiers Romania: 1876 soldiers Turkey: 1846 soldiers Australia: 1550 soldiers Spain: 1502 soldiers All in all there are approximately 130,000 soldiers from 50 countries in AFG right now. As for Georgia, it has exactly.... (drumroll) 935 soldiers in Afghanistan, not even close to being second (or third or fourth or fifth...). Still an impressive number for such a rather poor country though. Romania is surprising as well IMHO, they are not exactly a financial powerhouse and yet they are right there in the top ten of contributing countries. Hats off to them!

All I can tell you from first-hand knowledge is what USAF, USMC, RAF, RNAF and RDAF pilots in Afghanistan used for absolutely everything they dropped, no matter what platform, no matter what kind of weapon, no matter how many of them: Stores. The only exception were Apache pilots (the US Army ones, don´t know about the UK and Netherlands), who called out "engaging" when firing the gun or the Hellfire, and funnily enough nothing at all when firing rockets (btw, does anyone happen to know why they remained quiet in this case?).

A-10C and P-51 version before Patch 1.2.1?
Cookie replied to JAG's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
JAG, I think the problem here is your seriously overwhelmed and somewhat outdated CPU. If there is any reasonable way for you to swap it, you should try that first. Your current CPU bottlenecks the entire system, which would also explain why that ASUS GT 670 didn´t give you much of a performance boost despite it being one of the most amazing cards out there. Oh, and in case you are indeed shopping for a new CPU, for some reason the DCS series likes Intel much better. -
Any news, Pitbldr? I would love to throw some money your way. ;)

OMG! I seriously thought I was the only one who was crazy enough to let this happen to him. Good to see I´m not alone in this! :D
