My 2 cents: I've owned CH ProPedals, used the Saitek pedals for a week or so and now own Simped F-16's. The CH pedals were very narrow and were unfortable to use for a long period of time. They were also very noisy. As well, after a few years the signal from the potentiometers became very erratic, opening up the pedals and cleaning everything out didn't help either. Toward the end of their life I had to set a 50% deadzone on the toe brake axis or hold the pedals back with my feet to keep the brakes from engaging constantly. I think I probably got 5-6 years of use out of them though. The Saitek pedals I am least familiar with having only used them a handful of times. They were much wider than the CH pedals and the adjustable friction was nice. They also felt more solidly built and were quieter out of the box but my friend complained they became sloppy and started creaking after a year of use. My Simpeds arrived about a month ago. Having read so many rave reviews I was a little dissapointed with the build quality. There is nothing stopping the toe brakes from flopping over the wrong way for example. I 've used cable ties to keep that from happening but I don't think I should have had to. There also seems to be a fair amount of play between some of the components so they don't feel as solid as I had expected. For the price I was expecting something more but I'm still happy with the purchase and have no doubt they are the best of the three by a long way.

Ewww, vinyl's worse than StarForce. I had LOMAC on vinyl and played so much I wore it out in a month! The fidelity of the flight model was incredible though. :pilotfly:

Warthog arrives in the mail today, I whip it out of the box and start fiddling with all the buttons and switches, admiring how solidly constructed everything feels. Then I decide to try out my Cougar handle on the Warthog base to see whether I prefer it to my Cougar base with Uber II Nxt gimbals. As I'm tightening the Cougar handle onto the base with the grey ring I hear a crack and discover that I've managed to give my stick a twist-for-rudder feature (there is now about 30 degrees of play in the "yaw" axis). I didn't use a huge amount of force to tighten the stick, only as much as I used to loosen it in the first place so I'm thinking that something plastic inside became brittle in the cold during shipping. Here's hoping TM covers it! :joystick:

GAU-8 Vehicle Destruction Variety? Not sure if this is on the list of things to improve prior to release but it would be nice to see some variety in vehicle destruction. As it stands, when vehicles are destroyed by the GAU-8, they all seem to burn for the same duration before exploding, regardless of armour type. Hoping this behaviour is only a placeholder.

What if it breaks at night? Sorry, just playing devil's advocate ;) The RL answer is probably something along the lines of: you're having a bad day so go home and get a new jet before you make it worse by strafing friendlies.

What if your SADL breaks?

Finally : My new TripleHead2Go setup!
AJ.eightFive replied to JEFX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Looks sweet. I tried to get TH2G going last year but the performance was horrible on my 4400+/8800GTS and didn't like having to run my monitors at less than native resolution. Anyway, was wondering if you've had a chance to try 3x1650x1080 since Matrox released the new TH2G Digital firmware a couple of days ago? -
Thanks for your excellent utility Skypat. Can't begin to imagine where we'd be without your utilities.

A truly horrible accident. R.I.P. -
This bug is occurring with the Virtual Snowbirds CF-114 and canopy liftlines mod installed. Members of the VSB have suggested I turn down the graphics settings but this has not worked for me. Disabling reflections fixes the lack of transparency on the canopy but not on the hud combiner glass, instruments or mirrors. Majesco's suggestion in this thread also did not work. (You can also see cloud texture corruption in the first image but this is unrelated as far as I can tell). The strangest part about this bug is that the transparency appears correctly if there is an aircraft within the rendering frustum. In the images below you can see the lack of transparency which is resolved when the aircraft in the very bottom of the image comes into view. Any ideas? Edit: Problem solved. Setting near_clip and middle_clip to the same value resolves the issue without having to disable reflections.

I wonder if TekaTeka would know? He modified the trees and structures for better night lighting right? I would try posting in the 3D models forums too.
