  1. I find combat flying is easier in VR. Resolution is good enough, but if you use high pixel density settings, small targets disappear until they are closer, or fill more pixels if you will. It's easier to maintain situational awareness in VR. But, I can't swap aircraft as often as before, and flying the FC3 aircraft is harder. I need to program the HOTAS with care, and remember every button. And having a clickable cockpit makes life a lot easier.
  2. Well, close enough, wouldn't you say? :) It's not like someone will mistake the camouflage for a F-15C, Mustang or a Mirage 2K. Maybe the HKP9A, eventually... ;)
  3. I just used encoders like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-12mm-Rotary-Encoder-Push-Button-Switch-Keyswitch-Electronic-Components-/121993737161?hash=item1c6764b3c9:g:GowAAOSwU1FXQL76
  4. If you want to do trims, I can recommend using rotary encoders. They output a button press for each 'detent' they are turned, either way. It's like using a PoV hat for trimming, but with a wheel. Works great!
  5. Ditto! Your build is inspiring me as well! Here's a pic of my new custom seat :) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178452
  6. He calls himself 'Goblin' on these boards... ;) Seriously cool idea, Krupi! Looking forward to see how this will turn out! I have made some adjustments to my seat, and rebuilt the SimBox for VR use...
  7. Looks like the entire skin is JA. Look at the small crown roundels on the fuselage. But I guess those are easy fixes... ;)
  8. Don't be greedy now... We got two vids. One with, and another without, comments. :)
  9. The SI (HUD) had a setting for that, actually. :)
  10. Looks like it's riding a little high on the main struts as well..? Hard to tell if it's the camera angle, or the aircraft with a nose low attitude, on ground. I bet some conscript mechanic overfilled the nitrogen in the dampers! ;)
  11. Bloody awesome!!! One question... Will it be possible to change the height and inclination of the SI, like on the real thing, where you set it up for high AoA flight.
  12. I'm not part of the development team, but I have helped out by documenting the HKP9A at Aeroseum, inside and outside :) So They are definately doing much more than just a skin. Good to have you here. Will be interesting to hear your opinion on the HKP. Do you have much experience with the Helos of DCS?
  13. It is good airmanship to allow slower aircraft some space, or at least turn out of the way, before taking off in a faster aircraft ;) So... How about that start up vid... Friday 'n all...
  14. Another thing with magnetic variation is that...it varies :) Not a lot, and over time. But, RWYs aren't usually repainted immediately a new designator would be in effect, so to speak.
  15. What do you mean 'where'? Did someone misplace it..? ;) Seriously though, I can wait. Come to think of it, I don't have any other option. It will be out when it's out. Although I could go for some more shots and vids, while I'm waiting...
  16. The pausing may have to do with the computer powering down your USB ports. Make sure the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option is disabled in the device manager. Here's how. It's for WinXP, but it's more or less the same for any windows version. http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-xp-tips/prevent-windows-from-powering-off-usb-device/ Also, the power management can be turned on again after updating windows or drivers, so check on it, from time to time.
  17. Got my Oculus Touch Controllers today!!! First glance: High quality. Good ergonomics. Very lightweight but way too heavy to have dangling on your wrist when you hold the HOTAS. Swinging the controllers up into your hand, from hanging in the wristband, actually works! But it's not practial when sitting down. So, for sitting down in a cockpit, like you would in a flightsim, I see no other option other than putting the controllers in a tray, close to your controllers. Now, let's install and try them out! :)
  18. I agree! That's a much more productive competition, and a competition we alread see happening. Developers seem to learn from eachothers releases. The rate at which modules are updated. The level of completion. Features. Quality of FM and art. Sure, same module competition would be interesting. But I think we users are divided. I mean, how we experience the different modules is very subjective. Some like jets, others like props. Some want full fidelity, som want FC3. Just think of the endles debate on which FM is the better one ;-)
  19. My feeling is that buying the Viggen module any later than release day, is a personal failure... ;)
  20. If you also read Point 1 you see that ED halted development of their own L-39. It wasn't developed in competition. The license was revoked, and ED re-started their inhouse development. The way I understand that post, is that you're granted a license to develop a module, but if you don't keep your part of the agreement, you may lose that license. I don't think multiple developers will be granted licenses for the same module, and compete about who gets to release it. But I could be wrong.
  21. Since development of a DCS module requires the approval of ED, I doubt they would issue multiple approvals for the same aircraft.
  22. The Viggen had pitch stability problems in the transpnic speed region. This was partly solved by area ruling the fuselage by adding a hump on the fuselage spine. I wrote about it in the "Can you make it over the hump" thread... :) https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2811750&postcount=54 Come to think of it, I don't believe we ever got an answer to the question in that thread... ;)
  23. I think this is why they didn't include dispensers in the AJS mod. The tactics hadn't changed. Still "in fast, strike hard, get the heck outta Dodge" routine.
  24. Cobra said so himself, in a post here, somewhere :)
  25. Definately! You could see they had the advantage of better squadron tactics, and had trained together. Don't believe the Tiggen Squad had much practice before the match?
