Because ASW takes two frames from the game, and extrapolates what the next frame will look like. And if you have a small moving object, that changes it's position in frames 1&2, ASW needs to extrapolate where this object will be in frame 3, and what to substitute the object with. VR will always look its best if the game can output a steady 90 FPS to equal the refreshrate of the the VR display. ASW is a way to help the game to output 90 FPS to the VR display, even if the actual FPS is lower than that. So, ASW is no magic silver bullet. I think it works well, but I still need to lower my graphics setting to achieve as high FPS as possible.

+1 to what's been said before. Anything but 1:1 head movement in VR would be counterproductive. The fact that you see what you expect to see, when you move your head, in the virtual world is what makes VR so real and immersive. It also makes it much easier to maintain situational awereness because your mind remembers in which direction you looked when you saw the bandit. Yes, combat VR flying has become a much more physical exercise than before.

Yeah... About that... A whole day since the announcement video... Guess, what I'm sayin' - and I know I speak for many of us - is that...we...want...more. That is, if it's not a bother. P-p-p-pleeeease!

Nice writeup! I can add, as a curiosity, that the forward mount on the lavette, was tensioned with a ratchet ao that the lavett pushed the missile downwards upon release. Also, the Rb04 could not be launched from the centerline mount, but it could be transported there. This could happen in case of mobilisation and transferring out to the roadbases.

MiGgen grudgematch... :)

JA37, not AJ. But still pretty awesome ;)

I'm really curious as how they have solved this... The RB75 sight is called EP13, BTW.

Yes you would've! We all know you wouldn't get any sleep, otherwise. But, as luck would have it, Cobra saved you from making the trip! ;) Now Cobra forgot to comment about the nose gear doors... :music_whistling:

Yes, externally, in a pod.

Good job! I wonder if it's the trailing edge angle that's off?

Fly low. Fly fast. Hit hard. ;)

Since I think you're doing the developers a favour by pointing out flaws and bugs as early as posible, I don't think it's too early to do so now. It's clearly a fantastic job! And it's not always easy to get a proper perspective when looking at pictures and videos. It will be easier when the module is released, and we can view it live, from any angle. But I concur with robban75s findings below. Also spotted a few mirrored decals. This can of course be because of the development status of the Viggen, so if it's already on the to do list, or fixed, well then, just disregard ;) I noticed that the nose gear bay doors doesn't open fully. When hydraulic pressure is applied the nose gear doors are almost parallell to the ground. After engine shutdown, and hyd pressure bleeds off, they sag. That said, I can't wait to buy and fly!!! Keep up the great work, Leatherneck! :pilotfly:

Oh! A Viggen shot it down.,, ;)

So how well does Asynchronous Space Warp work in DCS?
Goblin replied to RoyMi6's topic in Virtual Reality
ASW is enabled since Oculus 1.10, but I don't think for Radeons, yet. Could be wrong. Win8 and above is also needed. I don't remember the FPS command, but it's in the DCS controls, under general, I think. -
Did you update Oculus to 1.10 and DCS to 1.5.5 at the same time? Or did you notice this blurriness in 1.5.4 with Oculus 1.10 as well? You could check if it's indeed the ASW causing it by checking your FPS. If the blur disapear at 90 FPS, but is present at 45, you have your answer.
-
Don't think that's because of ASW though... ASW may cause some bluriness when moving, but standing still, it should't affect view. Did you check your FPS and verified that ASW was in fact active in that sequence? I find that outside views like that is at a steady 90 FPS. ASW would cap the FPS at 45.

Yeah, exactly. So why not have it both ways, and let the player decide..? IMO simulating these mechanical safety catches is an attempt at realism, that in fact becomes unrealistic if you have a real controller. Catch 22 :) But it seems like it would be really easy for developers to add commands that doesn't require simulating the safety catches.

The L-39 also has a gear handle lock. But you don't have to release this lock to move the handle. But to start the engine, you have to raise the lid, before pressing the button. I understand the sim aspect. But if you want to go 100% sim, and integrate a real L-39 cockpit with DCS, you would have do build small switches to register when the physical button lid is lifted in the real cockpit... So, it's both because DCS is a realistic sim, and not, at the same time... ;) They could keep the commands like they are today, and make new commands that both lift the lid and press the button, with just one command. Press a button, the lid is lifted, button pushed and lid is closed.

Yes.

It's obviously not a JA :) I think he meant that it's a AJ, not a SH (and not a AJS due to the year of the pic).
