Help me with the "Altitude Hold" - button
ZaltysZ replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It have Saitek X52, and it is interesting that game still sees axis even if I disable it (make it into bands or directional axis) via Saitek SST programming software. That fact is very useful for making automated collective brake: 1)Assign throttle axis to collective via game; 2)Create SST profile and make throttle axis into directional one; 3)Assign "F" key to both axis directions ("+" and "-"); 4)Adjust sensitivity of directional axis (I recommend "middle"); It works very simple: after every move of throttle "F" key press is generated; and if "Altitude Hold" is on, it will send new desired altitude for autopilot automatically. Caveats: 1)Watch out for key combination, which uses "F"; if you hold "Ctrl" key while moving throttle, you may get "Ctrl+F" and etc. I use keyboard only for chat and door control, so this is irrelevant to me; 2)High directional axis sensitivity will make control more fine grained, however Saitek throttles isn't very high quality and exhibit unsteadiness, which by it self may generate key presses while throttle isn't moved physically. This, combined with caveat #1, may give very unexpected results. -
I've watched your track and made conclusion that your targeting procedure was flawed. Why are you using flight director mode while you are hovering and using Shkval? It seems that you are loosing a lot of time just for placing targeting circles right. Use hover mode. It combined with auto-turn to target button will make corrections with pedals almost unnecessary. If you are hovering and target is out of range, then turn hover mode off, push cyclic a little bit, decrease range to target, pull cyclic to slow down to zero, engage hover mode again, fire.

It is easy to break sticks one by one, but it is very hard to do the same when they have been placed into bunch. Surely single tree is week cover, but whole forest isn't. I am not talking about some garden or park, but about nice and dense forest, which could not only block sight but fire also. Look at forest like at very flat topped "hill", because it would have the same effect.

ocram, what OS are you using? I am asking, because if you are using Vista, you may have problem with 3D sound (sound source position and volume may be wrong). DirectX implementation in Vista doesn't support 3D sound anymore, so games, which uses DirectSound3D, may sound badly on Vista, if 3D sound wrapper/emulator (like Alchemy) isn't used.

Choose right pylons (Y - external, I - internal) and just drop. There is no impact point calculation for bombs, so don't rely on circle in the HUD, because it shows nonsense. Drop bombs like it was done in WWII: in 45 degrees dive. Use aircraft datum in the HUD for aiming or switch HUD to grid mode.

The switch is near landing gear lever, under red cover.

ABRIS does show lat/long coordinates and you do need to transfer flight plan manually to PVI via keyboard. Keep in mind, that PVI can remember only up to 6 waypoints. So, flying by ABRIS manually you can follow more fine grained plan when flyging by PVI (with or without AP).
-
ABRIS is seperate hardware and it doesn't have relation to autopilot or HUD. To choose nav points for autopilot, you must use PVI keyboard. Also, flight plan in ABRIS and PVI isn't the same, although it looks the same at start of mission. If you change it in ABRIS and want PVI to use it, you must reenter it via keyboard.

What current standards? Those which they had just set by releasing the game? ;) I think it will be better if they choose to advance weather model (terrain dependent), make AFM for missiles and etc. than investing time in graphics or sound.

Follow that Mi-24. Nothing more.

Don't forget flare button :D, which oddly enough isn't on HOTAS. I tend to use full stabilization while flying on route or when firing from stand off position. However, I like to disable stabilization and leave only dampeners switched on when I have to use cannon or unguided rockets while maneuvering over target.

Legolasinder, SingleProcAffinity sets affinity to SINGLE processor. This is not good, because it is already set by dcs.exe and people here needs method to set it to MULTIPLE processors permamentaly.

Test FPS not only when running on first or both cores, but also when running ONLY on second core.
-
Maybe it has something to do with ALT+TAB :D. I remember that trick has been used by some LOMAC players to regain FPS. I am using Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2 on Athlon64 X2 6000+ with swap disabled. Only about 3fps boost is achieved with affinity set for both cores. Something what I have been expecting as game is multithreaded, however I think that setting can lead to some stutter in complex situations, just like in LockOn.

This is not sticky hat problem, because if it was, Shkval would not change direction after reaching max point. It seems that you involuntary trigger SCAN mode (automatic movement of Shkval sensor to left and right). It is easy to trigger it: press Uncage Shkval once to get picture on TV, press the same button once again and SCAN mode will be activated. To stop it, you will need to move Shkval sensor manually or press uncage once again. Maybe you are pressing buttons too much, or maybe you are using profile with complex keystrokes mapped to joystick buttons. Such keystrokes and macros can lead to strange behavior. Look for commands which contain the same button as Uncage one (even if it is LCTRL+something).

X52 Pro - Profiles in game or in SST software?
ZaltysZ replied to V1Rotate's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Bind 2 buttons: the first - "E" and the second - "Ctrl+G". Press them both at the same time. Game may interpret it correctly, but also it may interpret it as "Ctrl+E". I always try to bind frequently used functions directly to buttons via in game settings and try to avoid binding multikey commands via programming software. -
Go to Russia and you will be amazed how Vodka is cheap there. :smilewink: You can't directly compare western prices to prices inside Russia or CIS, especially the ones of locally made products.
-
You need to add 2 separate flights with skill level set to "client".
-
Hard to say, maybe it would be better if we could see your track.
-
Make sure you are running in full screen mode. If you forget to turn that switch on and your desktop resolution is the same as in game, it will look like full screen, however there will be no more than 30 fps.

DCS F-16 3D model status/Need correct translation, please!

EDIT: removed my translation. -

I've narrowed the problem a bit. Unicode works fine in menu, mission editor and etc., but has problems in game (flight). In game confirmation box'es and radio menu don't show other than pure latin or cyrillic characters. Also, multiplayer menu appears to have the same problem too.
-
I have made quick test with: ĄČĘĖĮŠŲŽ (Lithuanian) and all that characters are missing in game. I guess that problem is associated with fonts.
-
Have you tried to use characters like: č, ć, đ, ž? Although localized strings are in UTF-8; it seems that fonts, used in game, aren't.
