So many skins that are just waiting to be painted, bring on the template please :)

From another thread I was able to rearm the MI-8 by not changing the fuel level and only selecting new weapons, so you might try that and see if it works for you. So far it works for me because I've never come close to running out of fuel.

DCS: MI-8MTV2, What do You Think?
monkie replied to H-var's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
The Hip and the Huey are both good choices from a marketing standpoint and I'm enjoying them both immensely. I look forward to upcoming additions to both aircraft. IMHO I believe the future of both products will rely on the DCS engine allowing for drop off and pick up missions to be added easily. Without real use of the helicopters (other than a gunship role) I think interest will drop. -
+1 would love to see the WSPS added to the clean version. It's already been modeled so hopefully it's an easy addition for the final release.

nice, thanks

VERY helpful, thank you -
No english cockpit language for the Mi-8?
monkie replied to Nereid's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
English please, like the KA-50. -
Has anyone taken a look at the .sdef file or the actual .wav file to see if in fact the Huey sound was changed in 1.2.6?

Flyable Helicopters Mod, DCSW 1.2.2
monkie replied to sammy's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
That fixed it thanks. -
I never noticed it in 1.2.5 maybe because I was using the dirty glass MOD? I notice it now and yes it's a bit fuzzy.
-
Great video, it covers the MI-8' and others as well
-
Now I feel guilty every time I pull the trigger.
-
LOL, just how am I supposed to hear those things over the noise of my Huey?
-
I like the idea of being able to add the door gunners as if we were loading weapons. Also please offer the civilian model with the cable cutters as well.

I'll bite... what new ambient audios?

With the slick version I would like used all my other repaints...
monkie replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Thanks you saved me a lot of squinting and typing! -
the quickest way would be to find that sound in the sounds folder and run it through a program called "Audacity" which is a freeware audio editor. You can decrease volume, resave the file and insert it back into the sounds folder.

I see what you are saying about the AI. When I set an AI chopper to be empty it shows up as the gunship model. When I jump in to take control of that helicopter it shows correctly as the Civilian model, and if I jump back out it stays as a AI Civilian model. I'm also seeing a slight change in AI behavior, it used to be if I jumped out of a helicopter that I had landed it would take off again but now it shuts down right where I left it. -
Flyable Helicopters Mod, DCSW 1.2.2
monkie replied to sammy's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Seems that the mods still work fine in 1.2.6 however now when using the KA-50 cockpit with the AH-1W and removing the cockpit view using ALT-F1 instead of the ABRIS (which I usually turn off) I am seeing the pilots kneeboard which there is no control to turn off that I can see. -

EDIT: I missed that this was covered in another thread but I'll leave it here just in case others can use this. Sorry. With the new "civilian" models the way the skins are incorporated have been changed a bit. You will need to go into each of the skins folders that you want to see on the CIV models and do a little editing. Find the "description" file for each livery that you want changed and edit it in notepad. livery = { {"civ_uh1_main_dam", 0, "uh1_HD_MED", false}; {"civ_uh1_main_dam", 2, "uh1_spec.bmp", false}; {"civ_uh1_tail_dam", 0, "uh1_HD_MED_tail", false}; {"civ_uh1_tail_dam", 2, "uh1_tail_spec.bmp", false}; {"civ_uh1_main", 0, "uh1_HD_MED", false}; {"civ_uh1_main", 2, "uh1_spec.bmp", false}; {"civ_uh1_tail", 0, "uh1_HD_MED_tail", false}; {"civ_uh1_tail", 2, "uh1_tail_spec.bmp", false}; {"uh1_main_dam", 0, "uh1_HD_MED", false}; {"uh1_main_dam", 2, "uh1_spec.bmp", false}; {"uh1_tail_dam", 0, "uh1_HD_MED_tail", false}; {"uh1_tail_dam", 2, "uh1_tail_spec.bmp", false}; {"uh1_main", 0, "uh1_HD_MED", false}; {"uh1_main", 2, "uh1_spec.bmp", false}; {"uh1_tail", 0, "uh1_HD_MED_tail", false}; {"uh1_tail", 2, "uh1_tail_spec.bmp", false}; {"uh1_weapon", 0, "uh1_weapon_blk.bmp", true}; {"pilot_UH1", 0, "pilot_uh1_sagegreen.bmp", false}; {"pilot_UH1_helmet", 0, "pilot_uh1_helmet_lightgreen.bmp", false}; {"Gunner_UH1", 0, "gunner_uh1_af.bmp", false}; {"SPH-4B", 0, "gunner_uh1_helmet_lightgreen.bmp", false}; {"uh1_cov", 0, "uh1_cvr_helodrab.bmp", false}; {"UH1-cpt-door", 0 ,"UH1_door_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_karkas", 0 ,"UH1_karkas_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_karkas2", 0 ,"UH1_karkas2_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_panel", 0 ,"UH1_panel_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_central_box", 0 ,"UH1_boxs_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_dev2", 0 ,"UH1_dev_2",true}; } countries = {"USA", "RUS", "FRA", "UKR", "SPN", "NETH", "TUR", "BEL", "GER", "NOR", "CAN", "DEN", "UK", "GRG", "ISR", "ABH", "RSO", "ITA",} I had to add the bold section, that is the area the program looks at anytime you have an empty load out. It assumes that you have no weapons and want the unarmed civilian version. You will then have to transpose each of the original names into the civilian section. For example where it says "civ_uh1_main_dam" I had to add the file name "uh1_HD_MED" just as it said in the original file under "uh1_main_dam". You simply go down the line and change the names. Be careful that the TRUE and FALSE statements also match the originals. Now when you load un unarmed variant you should see the livery you have chosen and not the NASA one. hope that helps a bit and as always back up the livery folder you are working in just in case you have an editing mishap. -
I've always thought of a slick as having only door guns (or without) with no mounts for any other weapons, as they were usually tasked with carrying troops. Take the current gunship model, remove the mounts for rockets and mini-guns and I'd be pretty happy with that as a post 1970's military "slick". (the flare dispensers are debatable but I can live with them).
-
the PAC keeps it very steady now, almost like the plane is on rails when it fires. This only applies when the cannon is selected via the "C" button so if you want stabilization when using the smaller cross site you cannot select the PAC function.

Upuaut can you please post how you updated your files so we can do it as well? Thanks

It's great to see that the "slick" version that was introduced with 1.2.6 represents a civilian UH-1 and could also represent a Vietnam Era slick by simply adding door gunners. Would anyone else also like to see a more updated military "slick" with the IR exhaust suppressor and cable cutters with or without the flare dispensers and with or without door gunners?
