    DCS C-17

    B-1 anyone? ^^

    DCS C-17

I would like that, as I like to fly commercial aircrafts, too. Having a DCS-quality Transport would be fun to fly, as FSX-physics are... well you know what I mean ^^ The Problem is the tiny Area. Cool, I can fly from Batumi to Anapa... yea! And the C-17 can solely be used for transport. I questioned the usefulness of the UH1 (and still quite do), but it is fun for CSAR and similar missions. Another Problem could be the combat environment. You are in a constant risk of getting shot down, and the number of players complaining against fighters shooting you down in Attackers is quite high. A transport wouldn't have any ability to strike back, what is even worse than the limited A2A-Combat capability of the attackers. OFC the major part of the DCS community is not that whiny ^^ But still, the small Area is limiting the C-17 quite a lot. Perhaps it could be fun to deliver Tanks with an airdrop-script ^^ I guess in the current state, when a fixed wing transport should be implemented, I'd prefer a C-130 (AC-130 :-P)
  3. Did you perhaps load CATM-9M? This is a Missile for training-purposes and wont actually come off the rail. Same for the TGM-65
  4. LASTE wont have effect on any guided munitions as they are already correcting for drift. It is called Wind Korrected Munitions Dispenser for a reason ^^ I already asked this question in a LASTE thread but noone answered... How do I get accurate Wind data? I usually note Wind on different Layers and then do the laste-input, because as soon as you input anything into LASTE, the Wind-Data shown on the WP-Page is affected.
  5. I recall from the old LOMAC that the Su25 was able to use SEAD weapons. Was this a bit of "overability" or is the current Su simply missing this feature?
  6. A comma here and there doesn't hurt ^^ I never tried to use inflight alignment after I already switched EGI on. I either use groundalignment (wich I usually dont) and wait for it to be done, or I use inflight alignment, take off and switch EGI on inflight. I guess setting it back to HARS automatically would make sense, but under wich circumstances would you need it? If the related systems got damaged they are done...
  7. I wasnt sure because the K has the CCD sensor, G is IR. All have optical sensors ;-)
  8. Some 80's missions might restrict usage of TGP's. I think this is a fun way as TGP's makes high altitude bombing with precision guided munitions very easy. To designate a Target you dont need to have a lock on it. I'm not sure if the G has the ability to use the force correlate mode, if it has, it has the longest range in the A10's arsenal.
  9. The ATC will tell you wich rwy you will have to take off from. On the smaller airports you can taxi simply by your hdg, for the more complex ones you can use the F10-Map. On some servers/missions this will be disabled though.
  10. I cant give you any strickt values as I mostly fly like I feel it will give me a good path for reattack. Giving strickt values for altitude and distance is difficult as it depends on the weapons you intend to use, the kind of target(s) and how they stand in relation to each other. I assume you want to do some divebombing with ironbombs. I tend to dive at -25° to -40° dependant on target armor (better armored, harder dive to reduce spread). If the wind is not strong I like to break off at about 10000ft-8000ft so I dont get close to the ground. If the winds are heavy and I'm quite sure I took out the enemy AD I go lower to get a better accuracy, because even with LASTE-settings your Impactcalculation is not accurate enough for suficcient hits from high altitude against armored targets
  11. The only advantage of the 97 would be, that it is droppable in CCIP (if it was correctly computed). This comes in handy if you want to attack moving targets for example, although you still have to compensate for the time required for the bomblets to aim and fire. In every other situation the 105 is in advantage because of the inertial guidance. It will hit the aimed spot even with heavy winds (i dont know if drift of the bomblets is corrected though). You can drop a 97 from high altitudes, if there is extremely low or no wind.
  12. This can be seen in two ways. One considers cheating is doing something not allowed at all or localy, in sims is is mostly seen the way that cheating begins at actions that are not realistic. Considering the padlock as a cheat, is a bit hard from the term itself, if you ask me. But as P*Funk said: it is way to easy to press a button. You dont have to care whether the missile is infront of you or behind... you'll know because you'll always look in the right direction. Without padlock you have to rely on your MWS and spotting it by frequently looking in the possible most dangerous area. I guess the best solution would be an overexaggerated design of the smoketrails, so they can be spottet quite easily if looking in the right direction unzoomed.
  13. I'm not an expert on this topic, but I guess it's dependant on the amount of natural light and distance to target. I try to keep the gain as low as possible to get a good contrast and push the lvl so high everything is well visible at the current gain.
  14. solid awesomeness could be a bit exagerated? but i agree, fun aircraft
  15. If you ment C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\DCS\Missions\Campaigns\en ; this is the path i store missions in, but never tried for campaigns, as the default campaigns are stored in ...\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Missions\EN\Campaigns
  16. guess you misunderstood the question. It is about starting the aircraft cold and dark instead of running and placed on the rwy
  17. Sure, never wanted to consider anything over the tgp, it is worth far more than any armament that could alternatively be stored on a hardpoint. But some lowtech missions could be a fun variety
  18. Well, if you dont use LGB's there is no reason to switch the TGP for another WP ^^ The next time I have free time I'll try to make a mission with more oldschool weaponry, including Mav's for target aquisition and unguided bombs. I guess that will be fun *g* ...given you fly the (pretty boring) campaign missions and only destroy the targets you get assigned to
  19. In the case my system is damaged and has to be reinstalled, I lose one activation, right? Is it possible to regain activations over the years?
  20. I think I get what your problem is... After the bomb has reached a 90° dive angle, it should travel straight down (given that the wind is exactly 0m/s), meaning watched from above stays in the exact same spot relative to the ground. I guess I will test this if I'm bored ^^ The reason I've searched for this thread is the correct procedure for LASTE input. I wonder how to get wind data. The hdg/spd given in the WP-page for example changes if I input something in the Laste page. Is there a reliable, independet source for wind? (I know ATC gives you heading and speed [-180° and spd in m/s...], but thats only surface wind. I know even laste-corrected, you wont get pinpoint accuracy for ironbombs, but I'd like to at last be able to reliably hit soft to light armored targets with ironbombs from heights above Igla range ^^
  21. I like that loadout, although I'd take a GBU12 instead of the WP (given that there are only A10's to share information with) I like Iron Bombs, but I need some more practice with them, especially in windy conditions. On more than 5m/s I perhaps hit something, but not good enough to destroy heavily armored targets
  22. Sure you'll be heavy as f*ck and wont be able to go defensive w/o emergency jettison. And you can only attack 1 Target at a time. Might be effective though, if there is no threat to you and a large number of widely spread tanks. I prefer to be armed lighter for better manouverbility, and take a variety of munitions to adapt to possible situations
  23. I wanted to ask a question, but I guess I should test it again after splash said you dont need an active laser to fire the vikhr... My question would have been if its intended, that you are able to fire only 1 Vikhr at a time. I have (or had) to disable the laser and activate it again to fire a second one
  24. Sry, should have been more precisely. I haven't found a config.lua containing them and wanted to know where this file is to get the values. I guess I will be able to find these values inside of the file ^^
  25. Dont know if I'm correct with this, but as far as I know this issue has been addressed but can still occur if the mission file has not been updated (just saved again in ME)
