  1. That pit looks awesome xD I am using a computer table with a higher area for the Screens. I have a 27" main screen and a 24" secondary, mainly for working purposes. (Yeah... watching movies while working... xD) I use the x52 hotas, so interconnectability with the MFDs would not be achieved easily i guess ^^ But I'm not interested in that, as all things I really need are mapped on the X52. Would be nice to have though ^^ With this table there would be enough room to place the 14" lenovo usb screen below my main screen. But you got me to the idea to use my 2nd monitor to display other instruments. I don't know how useful it would be, because its about 30° to the right but its worth a try. Thanks for the share!
  2. Never mind... suddenly starts again. Reboot didn't help, deleting config didn't do anything... posting on the forum: error disappears xD
  3. Hey, I suddenly can't launch DCSW anymore. I start the game, it checks for updates, CLI shows up shortly and launcher is fired up - and ends right away. 5min ago I was in the mission editor, closed the game and wanted to start it again but it, well... doesn't. I renamed the userconfig aswell as the DCS World\Config to see if there is an error, but the behavior was the same. Multiplayer starts fine though... Any Ideas? thx, Mav
  4. I wouldn't set the second monitor on the same level as my primary screen, as the sense of this whole thing is a more convenient access to the mfd-functions. Having a second screen below my primary with attached MFD-Frames sounds good, but just as you wrote "If you're experienced with mouse movement while wiggling around with your TIR it's not really necessary", this is the part that stopped me from buying them right away. As for Tablet use: i tried the app and it is quite nice, apart from the price you pay to unlock all features. Surely that app was hard work and the writer deserves something for that value, but although it is even more expensive, I feel like I'd get more for my money by buying the cougars. Especially the use of a touchscreen is something quite unconvenient when it is time critical. Like your suggestion to use it for CDU-purposes: I'd rather use my keyboard for a fast input. I'm still fire and flames for getting the cougars + the 14" TFT at the moment (as I am usually with new Ideas), guess the best thing to do is let that Idea settle a week or two and see if I changed my mind. Thanks for the help so far! Mav
  5. Sounds like a good buy so far, thanks for sharing your opinions and experiences. I can't really imagine comfortable use of them without an attached display. Isnt it possible to configure the exported MFCDs so they show up in the bottom corners of the display? I guess it's worth a try before buying any additional monitor. Is it possible to export the Shkval from the Shark or Su25T aswell?
  6. Hey Guys, I recently thought about getting the cougar MFD's. Before I do so, I wanted to ask you some questions: 1.: Do you recommend them? I really like flying the A-10C and I'd guess it's a nice addition. If you include Displays its quite an amount of money to spend, and I just want to make sure this is buy makes sense. 2.: What Displays would you recommend? I've read Samsung U70 and Lillyput UM80 often in some posts I've seen, but getting two of them blows the budget I'm willing to put up for this. 3.:I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (10" Display, 217mm Wide), and seen that there is an app to display certain gauges and so on. I guess the Tablet would be big enouth to "power" one, but not both mfd-frames? 4.: I've seen the Lenovo ThinkVision LT1421, which basically is a 14" LCD display with USB-connection. Looks quite appealing as it only costs about 120€ on Amazon. Does anyone use this and can share some experiences? 5.: I also thought of usb-connectable picture frames. I'm not sure which of those are suitable for use as a monitor, I'd be glad to read your experiences. Thanks, Mav
  7. Thanks for the offer. The issue with the tanker was in an old mission and it stopped working after the update. If I can't get it to work, I'll be glad if you'd had a look for it.
  8. Thank you for the quick response, got it now. It seems so obvious, now that I see how the push task is handled, but is this new since 1.2.7? I recall this a bit different... But explains why the tanker wont start up with the flag I had set, guess that's the same issue
  9. Sorry, I guess that's kind of a stupid question, but I can't get it to work: I want to set up a Buk site that is ordered to weapon hold until enemy units are in a specific zone. So I created trigger that reacts to coalition units in that area. My advanced WP-action for the Buk site now looks like this: 1.: RoE = Weapon Hold 2.: Alarm State = Red 3.: RoE = Weapons Free /?; Condition is User Flag = true The flag changes to true but nothing happens. I unchecked the box for value=true and the RoE were set to Weapons Free immediatly, as ofc the flag is false on start. My best guess is, that the wp-actions are only checked at the moment the WP is reached. So at mission start the trigger is false -> RoE not changed. As the RoE setting is an Option and not a Task, I can't set it as a trigger. If I am correct this far, I'd guess aswell that I would have to do this with a script... As I never touched lua scripts before, I'd be thankful if someone took the time and post an example on how to do this or a wiki where I can get all functions I need. Thanks, Mav
  10. Interesting. As it is, its quite easy to take out the radar to be safe from the buk (as long as you don't close in too much). With the radar and launcher spread out so far, it would be far more challenging to take out a buk site with an A-10. Especially if guarded with one of those nasty tor's... But we don't have what I guess is a dedicated buk tracking radar?
  11. Keep in mind that Ka-50 uses arcseconds while the A-10 in LL uses hundredths. Its not that hard to convert those mentally, but it's nice to have the right coordinates right away
  12. Thanks, unfortunately the luck-part is an awfull lot greater than the skill-part ^^
  13. Hey guys, really looking forwart to thursday. Made an attempt of creating a video of my favorite engagement from last weeks battle. I don't usually make videos, so don't expect to much, but I guess the kill is worth a look ^^
  14. Looking forward to this, enjoyed last week's flight. Will R-73's still be limited? Last week I respawned after beeing shot down and took off just to notice I had no ordnance onboard. I was not able to rearm as R-73's were not available and R-60's not usable on the 27
  15. I'm more for hotshots 2. Never heard of area88, thanks for the hint. I'd recommend Sky Fighters, story is a bit flat but the pictures are cool PS: Anyone with a tacview replay of the first Mission (Virtual Airwar)?
  16. Ok, but there is at last a chance for one, good to hear. guess what, my favorite movie xD ...and: Bullshit, you can be mine!
  17. Was a great event! Does someone, if the server permitted it, have a tacview replay of the event? I recently re-setup my system and did not install tacview til now. If a replay exists, it would be nice if it could be uploaded somewhere. Thanks, Mav
  18. As I am enlisted as an A10 pilot, I'd pass on this one if we have enough Fighterpilots to man all Aircraft. If not, I'm in on Su27
  19. Crescendo: you are right that preventive flares don't have an effect as they should -> launch prevention. I wrote: they have an effect in terms of creating a good habit for the time they work as intended, and on launch the missile may lock a released flare. I didn't write about how preventive flaring in DCS works, but that it is still usefull. If the missile is not in your current view, the delay between launch detection + reaction time of the pilot can easily be 70% of the time to impact! Even if you see the missile before MWS reacts, the flight time of shorads is way to short for comfort, and after all this is about flare effectiveness. I see your point in differentiation between defensive and preventive flares, although this distinction is diffuse. Never the less it is a working tactic to launch flares while running in on a propalby IRSHORAD defended target. I also don't think that there is a lot of confusion about this, as everyone can easily notice preventive flaring doesn't work, just like your example has shown.
  20. As you are talking about autopilot, you seem to talk about the Su-25T. This forum is about the Su-25, which is different to the Su-25T. Never the less lasermissiles are easy to shoot: Turn A2G-Mode on, activate the laser and focus your target. When in range the LA-light turns on: hold the trigger until missile release and correct your targeting point until impact. Only difference for Su-25T: find your Target with the Shkval and activate the laser when in range / launch override and then fire
  21. preventive flares have an effect, apart from creating a good habit for a brighter DCS future. Sometimes the missile locks a flare immedeately after launch. And there is a slight delay for MWS, and then the reaction time... Time to impact for SHORADS is way to short so imho everything that could save your ass is worth it
  22. The case is overloaded with fans, max temp on furmark is 74°C. Driverversion has already been downgraded, no effect
  23. Hey Guys, a friend of mine has freezing screens in Games. He already has been to 3 Shops but they didn't find anything. Now I'm sitting here with his computer and I'm starting to get confused. I tested the behavior with DCS and BF3, screen freezes after a quite short gametime, sometimes blackens. Bluescreen didn't occur. Funny thing is: testprograms (prime95&furmark) run normal, even for very long testperiods. Guess that's why the shops said everything was fine. I've replaced his GTX 580 with my old 8800GT and the system seems to run fine (in games) that way. Furmark with the 580 runs fine also... Just the games hanging it. I've got some ideas left to test, but I'd like to get some opinions on propable error sources first, so thanks for brainstorming! Sysspecs: -i7-920 -Gigabyte EX58-UD3R -Asus GTX 580 -8GB Ram in 4x 2GB PC1333 DDR3 DIMMS, Corsair -Thermaltake Toughpower 750W -Crucial SSD (currently no other Drives connected) Everything stock-clocked, drivers up2date
