  1. Did you edit ...\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\Scripts\config.lua ? I have set math.rad to 4, as I feel uncomfortable with 0. But still my HMS is set a bit above the center, making it easy to use zoomed in or out.
  2. A10 will be in service til 2035 or so
  3. Before we try to convince ED to start any new projects I would like DCS to be stable and at last almost bug free. And then there is the F/A-18 to come, a Plane I am really waiting for because of the Naval theater and A2G capability
  4. Perhaps, but the Problem is merging the Data what again leads to some workload. The A10 is not suited for SEAD/DEAD in regards of aircraft characteristics and partially sensors and armament. You cant change the flight characteristics. You have an atleast kind off suited armament with the AGM-65 but finding the target is the essential point, especially regarding the threat of the target to yourself. Triangulation is a good possibility to gain an estimate on the Position and I'd say worth the time as long it is not a rural area or a Su25T in the Area. This is also a good point to compare Su25 vs Su25T. The Su25, or at least me piloting it, have a hard time engaging enemy Airdefences. Equiped with an ELNIT Pod and SEAD or Vikhr missiles it is a lot easier.
  5. You don't seem to know what triangulation means. Triangulation is a process to find the source of an emmitted signal by using two recievers detecting the signals direction or range. The A10 does it vía direction. You simply have your first position and the direction to the enemy, and your second position with the direction. The lines from first and second position in the direction of the enemy should cross near the emitters location. Ofc the Su doesn't need such procedures as it is fitted for Sead Missions, but as you should have seen by now, it is possible to find a launcher by its radiation even in the A10.
  6. BS1 is quite fine, although it doesn't make a good deal for multiplayer as it is not supported in DCSW. I try to get into Falcon BMS, but didn't spend much time on that til now. I read about the dynamic campaign, wich is a thing you could miss in DCS. The custom made missions / campaigns delivered with the game still are fun. If you already have it, give it a shot. If not, perhaps mind to get BS2 as the others suggested. Way better in terms of multiplayer!
  7. could be a greater radar-crosssection? There can't be a relation between activation of the ELNIT and getting painted. I know the video, he points the rwr-spike on his 3 o'clock, makes an overhead waypoint and a second one heading 100nm 90° to his current hdg. Does it a 2nd time and he has a triangulated point where the sam roughly could be. I ask you again what triangulation has to do with pause?!
  8. What has triangulation to do with pause???
  9. Indeed. I also tried to slave the gun to the HMS, but I have a realy hard time aiming with TrackIR. Do you have any suggestions on that, or is it off possibility to be accurate enough? I guess it would come in handy when taking out multiple soft targets for example.
  10. Nice discussion, hope you dont bring it to a flamewar ^^ The Su may be fast, but it burns fuel like hell. If you want to load heavy weaponry and still climb faster than a dove you have to sacrifice fuel. If there is a 50+km way to the target Area you dont have much time to look around, get a picture of whats going on and engage multiple times. The A10 on the other side has very efficient turbofans, ofc it is slow, but for CAS it doesn't need to be fast. For the 1v1 combat situation, I personally think it is quite hard to find an A10 cruising at FL 14+, and this comes prior to your Vikhr shot. When the engagement starts closer the A10 is clearly in advantage because of the better turn rate. In the end a 1v1 fight is no matter of theoretical discussion, but of the very situation and the SA of the Pilots, and ofc of their skill. I agree Vikhr is an awesome Missile, but if you get into an A2A engagement with a Bandit already close, your only real option imho is to drop all ordnance and try to give him a SRM. But still with wings clean the turnrate of the Su25T is anything but good. I recall some1 to have said Vikhr has double the range compared to the Mav, dunno who it was. This is simply not true! The Vikhr can be launched at up to 15km, the Mav gets a solid lock at least at 7nm, wich is roughly 13km. The Mav(H) can also be launched in force correlate mode, wich gives a Rmax of about 12-15nm ~ 25km. I personally am not a very good Su Pilot, I was kinda surprised of the capabilities of its RWR as I just read, need to learn more on this topic! But nether the less, the A10 gives you a better situational awareness, as you can mark Targets and have a good overview on the TAD. In my opinion, it is hard to compare these 2 planes. The one is a fast bomber capable of multiple mission roles, the one is a dedicated slow CAS-Tankbuster. I guess both have their up's and down's. To get at last a little thing onto the actual topic: I like the flight behavior of the Su25, the T although has better avionics and guided weapons. The 25 is fun to fly, real good rocket truck. The T is better in handling AA and MBT's.
  11. Yea, the mod-thing can be annoying. The HMS is a very useful tool, especially with TrackIR. Its just uncomfortable when you zoom in on a target, so the here suggested adjustment is a good and easy change
  12. I agree with your post, but not with the capability of taking aut Thors with Mavericks. I tried several times, even flew into launchrange so it focuses on me instead of the Mav. I got shot at AND the Mav was intercepted... these things are beasts! (although I have to say, I never ancountered a single Thor, can you take 1 down with ~2 mavs?)
  13. Thank you very much, thats indeed a helpful tool!
  14. Hi, I was very happy to find an easy fix for zooming with hms. Is it possible to put the config file somewhere in the userpath? It is quite annoying to reapply the changes after a patch restored the files, same for custom CMS profiles in the A10. Thx, Mav
  15. Makes sense that the behaviour of a fully loaded A10 is not really good at about 186 kias, but why would you fly a fully loaded A10... You'll have this "sluggish" performance at ME's standard tanker speed and have a rather sluggish performance at missile evasion
  16. I get the bug issues, but why let it fly faster? A10 is slow, so tanker flys slow... @Otto: Aim for the engines ^^
  17. Hold rudder against rotation til it stops -> trim -> recenter controls as an additional help while engaging targets you can activate autoturn to target
  18. Smoke would indeed be nice, but please mind my graphics card ^^
  19. I didn't mean the bar but the Deviation itself. thx
  20. BRA is fine for you, but bullseye is a format usable for everyone on the freq., because it is not dependend on the position of any allie, just the bandid and the bullseye. I find bullseye hard aswell, but I do see its advantages. Guess practise is everything, as always ^^
  21. oh, and I hoped to be able to refuel again after comms in multiplayer should work again -.- This seems to affect SP now aswell?!
  22. I guess I get what you are trying to say. Instrumental navigation can be confusing to beginners and therefore is not the easiest to explain. I didn't read the whole posting as it is very long, so plz forgive me if I explain something already done, but I'd like to give some hints, too ^^ HSI (horizontal situation indicator) gives you information on the track error relative to your position and distance. Like VOR navigation, you set a course (RWY heading) for the ILS to measure your current position realitve to the localizer. The HSI is a command instrument: the center displays the Runway, you are the Arrow. When the Arrow show upward direction, you are on runway heading, if the center part is left of you, you have to steer left to be on the correct path, if it is right, to the right. Although this might be handy, you can ignore the ILS in most situations as the weather is good enough in most missions to do visual approach. Just try to be on a -3° to -5° dive (tvv - total velocity vector on -3 to -5 on the ladder) while aiming the tvv on the beginning of the RWY, and try to maintain a speed of about 120-140 kias, dependant on your current weight. You have the correct speed for your current weight when the green donut below the g-meter lights up. PS: whats the correct english term for describing the lateral offset to the runway? (shown on the HSI)
  23. Is it possible to change the Program selected by the (semi)Auto function? I've added custom profiles at the end so I wont interfere with the original profiles. I don't think I'll use (semi)Auto, but just in case... Why I'm asking: it just would be convenient to move my own profiles at the beginning while (semi)Auto still selects the correct profiles which changed position.
  24. I don't know is the Igla was changed recently. Been away for quite some time and jumped back into the Hog yesterday. Just did a bit of OP-Bactria and I've been stupid again: Many Inf in the Woods, tired of looking for them and on to drop a bomb. Igla gets launched at me, and then the noob came back: "you only need one more second till drop... you can wait one second, can't you?!" So after the release I thought "great, you're dead... I thought I've got rid of this behaviour..." but no! Preemtive Flares (1/second) worked very well. Tried that about 2 times more without firing because I got curious, and got the Igla every time. I can't remember this really worked half a year ago, or have I been extremely lucky? PS: engines were Idle ;-)
  25. you can add entries in this file: ...\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\AN_ALE40V\device\AN_ALE40V_params.lua
