That remains to be seen as noone with a g940 or other FFB device has reported on these settings yet. I am quite certain that if these settings were tried with other devices (though that may be an incorrect setup for those to fly with), the resulting behaviour of losing settings will be the same. The MSFFB2 might be the only joystick that needs the swap FFB axis and invert FFB X axis settings to hold due its construction, but it is the software that fails to keep these settings under all conditions. I can understand how switching between aircraft positions would be able to affect this, but i am curious how the radio menu is able to cause a similar effect.

I was playing around with the mission editor and noticed that all ai aircraft make their landings downwind instead of against the wind. I have tested this with different seasons (fall, summer), with and without precipation and with different wind forces and angles on different airfields (Batumi, Kobuletti, Kutaisi) and aircraft (F5-E, P51). I have then tested the landing behaviour of helicopters (oh-58, Batumi). Though they also make their final approach downwind, they hover-taxi and touch down with their nose into the wind as they should. I investigated if it could be the smoke effects that were bugged, but they drifted with the wind direction as they should. Also increasing the wind force made it impossible for the P-51 to hold the approach causing the ai to abort the landing time and again, thus proving the wind forces were as indicated in the mission editor and the ai behaviour is at fault here, namely landing on the wrong side of the active with a tailwind. I hope this is clear enough.

Yes of course. That's confirmed: using the radio communication menu button also inverts the FF x-axis. Or rather returns it to its uninverted state. This is a recurring issue, every time the position is switched or the radio menu is opened it resets to default (uninverted). Control options menu still lists it as being inverted though. BTW: i also use a MS Sidewinder FFB2. It would be nice to know if this also happens on other FFB devices. ie the returning from inverted to default state of the x-axis force feedback setting at the mentioned situations.

Since the huey is pretty much unflyable with a force feedback joystick in 1.5 atm, i'm quite happy to join in on round 3. Hopefuly i'll get some more time in then last round. Thanks Crash, Xcom and Greg!

Hey there, I am not sure if this is a Belsimtek or ED issue, so i will post here as well as in the 1.5 bug section: In the UH-1H when starting a new flight the game resets the invert x axis FF setting to unchecked although the setting in the control menu remains checked. This also happens when in the simulation you switch from the pilot position (1) to the co-pilot position (2) and also when switching from co-pilot (2) to the pilot position (1). it can be solved by: - enter control menu - uncheck invert x axis in FF tuning - exit control menu - enter control menu - recheck invert x axis in FF tuning - exit control menu. Now the FF axis are set-up correctly again but only until you switch to another position in the aircraft or start a new flight. The FF tuning will still be listed as inverted on the axis in the controls menu, but the behaviour changes regardless.

I don't know if this is the right place but in the light of 1.5 force feedback issues: In the UH-1H when starting a new flight the game resets the invert x axis FF setting although the setting in the control menu remain ticked. The FF tuning will still be listed as inverted on the axis, but the behaviour changes regardless.

What a great guy you are, i am in! -
That is not the collective you are looking for. However, this is: https://www.facebook.com/KomodoSimulations/posts/713119508799736 And ideally, you would also want the rest of the set-up. http://www.komodosimulations.co.uk/Controls.html Well, that is my excuse for playing the lottery anyway. edit: for flying multiplayer with the huey check out the 229th: http://1stcavdiv.conceptbb.com/c2-229th-assault-helicopter-battalion

I have some good real life and fs9/fsx memories of the super puma, courtesy of the RNLAF and Dirk Fassbender respectively. It would be my new main platform for sure. Although flying through a storm in darkness to secure a broken down apache on an abandoned russian airfield will be more fun in dcs and from the cockpit. Okay, now i want one.

Chuck's next DCS guide - What will it be?
Derk replied to Charly_Owl's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I voted Su-25/Su-25T. If new players want to get into DCS, this is what they will most likely fly for starters. Your guides will get more people flying and a whole lot easier and with more fun at that. It would be a big plus if one of them could help new players overcome the learning curve and add to a good first impression people get from DCS and flight simulation in general. -
Thanks Greg, also for the evac bit, good to know. See you out there!

Hey, this sounds great Greg, you guys are doing an amazing job. I am very much looking forward to round 2! one thing comes to mind: when you want to load troops with a helicopter from your starting farp or airbase you have to take off and land before the radio menu becomes available. If you get shot down while/after doing this, that would cost you a life even if technically you have not yet started your flight, right? If so, transport helicopters will not benefit much from this protection should they come under attack at their farp or airbase. But even so, with 15 lives a day and a bit of common sense, i don't think it will be much of an issue. edit: ah Xcom, we posted at the same time. Thanks for the explanation. So i guess my question is: what happens if you get shot/die after landing your plane?

I am with Monkey on this one. I fly UH-1H exclusively for red side and i love the tension and sense of urgency to get where you going in one piece. Yesterday i flew from Mozdok to Tblisi at a mind-boggling 110kts and it was amazing! More importantly, it takes good planning and coordenation to make good use of all your assets, as it should be. There's plenty of (relative) nearby farps and airfields.

Hey all, Reading up and searching for NF-5 info, i rediscovered some pilot shot, 1980's 8mm footage from and around of dutch NF-5's. Yeah, 1980's, so please excuse the music. ;) The NF-5 was a further development of the F-5 by Nortrop/Canadair in coorporation with the dutch airforce. They had leading edge flaps and a stronger wing structure that allowed it's turn rate to go up by 50% compared to the stock F-5 of its time. It also had an increased external fuel capacity through the addition of tip-tanks. Also the avionics were improved upon: it had a Sperry Gyro to replace Nortrop's non-computing gunsight with a Bendix attitude and heading system, a Canadian Marconi Type 668 Doppler navigation system and a 703 navigation system combined with a roller map. It was also equiped with an emergency UHF radio and a radio altimeter. (source: http://www.nf-5.nl site in dutch) These airframes were later sold to the turkish airforce and guess what, you can see them flying in dcs today! Well, actually i think it's a low poly model of a stock F-5 with a turkish airforce skin stuck on but hey, at least i can pretend. Anyway here are the links to the clips: RNLAF NF-5 Range Firing Flying NF-5 in the 1980's: Low level Sicily & Air Show

Thank you to the people who made blueflag possible and everyone who i flew with and against these past days. This was a great experience and my first in multiplayer in the 20 years that i fly pixels. I hope we can share many more like it. (Actually, just restart the campaign right now, shall we?) I also want all developers to know that this campaign was the reason i invested in some more modules and i hope that they appreciate and support what these guys are doing for the community and the companies involved. See you out there!

Yeah, the reds have the blues allright. But it is not over untill your fat lady sings blue!

I am very much looking forward to a dcs F-5, but i was really hoping it would be a flyable version of the one that has been in the series since lomac, namely the NF-5a. The one the turkish airforce fly in dcs and they bought from the netherlands when the RNLAF transitioned to the F-16. The NF-5 was a further development by nortrop/canadair in coorporation with the dutch airforce. It had leading edge flaps and a stronger wing structure wich gave it a 50% higher turnrate than the stock f-5 of its time and also allowed a bigger payload and more external fuel load through the addition of tiptanks. Also in avionics it was an interesting aircraft. It had a gyroscopic gunsight, radar altimeter and a rolling map as well as various navigation and communication upgrades. All interesting features for a simulated aircraft and the main point for me to have it developed. I know it is not going to happen but it is this aircraft that is one of my earliest childhood memories and was thankful for it being hinted at in lomac and dcs through the, now rather old and low poly, ai turkish f5. Or at least that was my perception of things. edit: i rediscovered and want to share with you two pieces of 8mm film from the 1980's of the NF-5A and -B. They were shot by one of the pilots. (yeah, 1980's, hence the music ;) ) at the firing range: low level flying in sicily + airshow

Hey guys, I really love the campaign and thus my first taste of multiplayer so far. But what happened reds? Yesterday we were on the outskirts of tblisi... I won't be able to play until saturday 15:00 gmt. But i am keeping track of the war thanks to the great websites. See you in the skies (or waiting on the ground probably :smilewink: )

Hey there, Unfortunately i won't be there for the grand opening tonight but i will be joining on saturday for sure. Just to check, i got joined up with the red side, can i still fly my huey then? I wish you all a great time tonight!

Rhetorical counter question: Was it any good?
-
Hi there, I would like to sign on as a lone wolf pilot for operation Blue Flag. I have been looking to get into multiplayer for some time and what you guys have created just looks too good to pass up on. So thanks for convincing me to take the step. Callsign: Derk Prefered Aircraft: UH-1H, SU-25A Looking forward to flying with you!

What a great initiative! Looks like you guys had a blast. Is there any chance on a follow-up event that i might join in on?

Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback 2 Joystick
Derk replied to Ferrariman11's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If there are centering forces then at least the hardware works. What are you flying? Does the centering work when the aircraft is stationary on the ground? If so, in the case of an aircraft my guess would be either windows or dcs does not recognise the controller properly. If you are flying rotorcraft it's a different story since they handle ffb differently. Also, if you have other joysticks or rudder pedals, etc. you might want to check if you have double assignments to any axis in the controller menu. This has caused me problems in the past. -
Thank you for the shots. if any of the other participants has some shots or footage, please do share them!
