I welcome any development in dcs, regardless of nation or purpose. But with the point of the DCS name in mind, since you brought it up, perhaps a good first step would be modules of aircraft that are used in both civilian and military roles and perhaps some military utilarian aircraft. This compromise would form the bridge towards true civil aviation. Some fancy flying to get those supplies to that airbase near the front, evading enemy contact and getting in and out in one piece sounds fun to me. Also fighting fires, search and rescue, photoflight, vip transport, para or supply drops, all examples of missions both military and civilian aircraft could perform. There are bound to be several types and models that have the best of both worlds.

Thank you for the update and happy holidays to all of you. Great news on the stuka. That will be the first ww2 aircraft i'd be interested in buying, unless someone has a bf110 or beaufighter up their sleeves before that. I understand you can't talk about other modules yet but thanks for the teasing, i think it is good fun anyway. I would wish you guys all the best for 2016, but by the looks of it you already have that covered. ;)

Well, i expect that any military airframe has some avionic, code or frequenze classified. So i would say that narrows it down to, all of them? Sorry, i am more of a logistics guy. I like to think there's still hope for an NH-90 or the like in the not so distant future.

Very cool, thanks for sharing!

I don't care much for facebook or other social media either, but i entered via email. What i find suprising, or slightly disturbing rather, is that you get multiple entries for clicking links and tweeting about it, etc. Anyway, thanks for the give away. It's the only way i'd ever be able to get my hands on any of those products.

a poll with all the Airbus helicopters including the unanounced one would be such a tease... ...so where is it? :D

Thank you for the translations! (rep inbound) I remember hearing similar stories when i was in Arvidsjaur for arctic survival training some 13 years ago, those guys (rangers?) seemed very fond of their airforce, unlike our land forces haha. The Viggen is a childhood favourite and the swedish military have always had my greatest respect. I am very much looking forward to the module. But more than that, it makes me want to go back.

Congratulations Ebabil! Thank you Corvus for hosting the give away, Keep the vids coming!

I want to go to las Vegas!

Thank you for taking the time to awnser the questions. Loved the video too, except for one thing: I kept moving my head to look around but nothing happened! ;) It'll be a challenging and immersive module to fly by the looks of it, keep it up!

Yes please, i'd be airborne 1.2.16 seconds! :prop:

I can't believe how i manage to miss this every year! Anyway, looks like you guys had a great time. Hope to be there for the next event. Thanks for the pictures. Gelukkig hebben we de foto's nog! ;)

It was a beta update. if the gazelle gets added before 1.5 gets out of beta it would also have to be added to 1.2. I guess that also means it will probably not happen before 1.5 goes live.

i bought a used sidewinder ffb2 and never looked back. You can't beat it for helicopter flying in DCS with working trim mechanism and all. I'd like to copy this mod someday and get/build a decent collective, but i have yet to find the courage. Anyway, i hope the Gazelle will be equally impressive to fly with it.

Looking good! Is this control stiffening simulated for us force feedback users?
-
That's the flying i like. Thanks for the time and effort, great video!

Truely a labour of love, she shows it. And that's just the outside! I am already grateful for all tthe time and effort you put into her, looking forward to meeting her in pixel-person.

Q: Can you elaborate on the recce funtionality mentioned for gazelle missions in the check-six interview? How does it work and is it limited to the gazelle or is it a mission editor addition that can be applied to other airframes as well? Q: What can we expect from the module with regards to force feedback?
-
Just in case someone missed it: the force feedback problem is a DCS bug, not related to the Huey or any other module. Here is a temporary fix: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2513435&postcount=25

Another rotorhead here. I was also thinking about this. I want to suggest tracking the number of troops deployed as a statistic. Also if you offset them to the number of landings you get the number of succesful sorties wich imho is an important aspect of the blueflag experience, for it can only be achieved by good co-operation and communication.

Sorry for the double post but i checked out the different joystick .lua's and though i haven't been able to determine the cause, i do have a temporary... SOLUTION: open the "Sidewinder force feedback 2.lua" for the module you want to deconflict. You can use notepad but i recommend something more capable like notepad++. For the Huey it is located in ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Input\UH-1H\joystick. right at the top you will find the force feedback settings. Change the invert X setting from "true" to "false", save and you're done. Warning: if you go into the ff tuning in dcs and tick the invert x axis ff the problem comes back. A restart of DCS will solve this. I suspect the settings in the game are not written to the .lua in all cases but i am not sure. If i find out anything more i will let you know.

I have the black buttons with silver/grey hat, throttle and trigger type. So, i guess that the insides differ too then.
-
I know of two different versions of the FFB2, could be something changed in the electronics or soldering between the two production runs that makes this happen. i need swap axis and invert x to make it work correctly on mine actually.
-
For me, the update did not change the behaviour. The invert x-axis FF setting defaults to unchecked with each crew position change (when available) or at the press of the radio menu button. This can be recreated accross all modules if set up this way (to clarify: IF you set the FF tuning up this way for testing. the default settings are actually fine for flying fixed wing modules. It is used to prove the problem is there DCS wide though only affects rotary flight with an MSFFB2 currently). The only extra information we can provide at this time that i can think of is if someone with a g940 or other FFB device sets up his ff tuning with inverted x-axis checked and report on the effect of changing crew position and pressing radio menu keypresses on the setting.
-
I tested a bit more: The problem also occurs with the ka-50 when using the radio menu. i can program the y-axis ff settings and they will hold, it is only the x-axis in the settings that defaults back to original settings behaviour, the settings window still lists it as being inverted. This means that if you have "swap axis" ticked in the ff tuning menu the effect will translate to the y-axis on the joystick instead. So it is only the "invert x-axis" setting behaviour that is affected by this bug. EDIT: This behaviour also extends to other airframes. Though not noticable during normal play because the forces are applied correctly to the joystick in their default settings, if you swap the forces axis and invert the x-axis ff, you get an inverted y-axis ff behaviour on the stick, wich is the most noticable force while flying and thus most suitable for testing. now if you open the radio menu while pulling on the stick you will notice the forces changing. This leads me to conclude that the problem is dcs wide and not module related.
