Guess my sig is the short story. Semi-long story: Dropped out of school at 16, joined the Netherlands Airforce at 17 and ended up in a ground defense squadron. That's fancy talk for a lot of gate duty due to the army's airmobile taking over most of our duties (budget cuts), though we also got training in door-gunnery, csar ops, various survival schools, etc. Due to even more budget cuts they closed "my" airbase in 2008. Have been working in a creche (child daycare centre) ever since. I run a pre-school group in the morning and take care of the older kids that can't go home after school. At home i'm a dad and a husband and whatever minutes are left i spend on learning C++ and simming.

the autopilot is, according to the manual, used to simulate the pilot flying the aircraft so you can concentrate on shooting stuff up. Guess they lack proper ai for this atm. You could used it during normal flight too i guess, that's when it would be considered a cheat. The autopilot supplied is a game mechanic, not an aircraft system!

my excuse for a cockpit lives in their playroom wich will double as guestroom this weekend... and still not finished with the dishes!

Tell my wife and boys (3,5 and 1,5 y.o.) that! Oh, belsimtek crew? My wife asks if you can put up a countdown timer so i can watch that instead of bothering her with "virtual stuff". Hmpf also, she just tells me we'll have 2 more kids from friends over for the weekend...

Guys, please stop! How am i supposed to get done with the dishes and other honey-do's when i have to keep track of all these threads?! I want me-time too!
-
Noo, don't do it man! Call in sick, there's still time!
-
Cowboy, you still at work?! You have to go home, you just pHUEYked! Better go to bed too, you might not get much sleep for a while. ;)

I'm okay with that price. Helicopter simulation is a niche within a niche market. If we are to sustain further developement, we have to invest in our hobby. Also, these are hard times financially for everyone, belsimtek included. I sure hope the huey isn't the last we'll see from them. If 10 bucks extra betters the odds on keeping the busines going, i'm all for it. And on a final note: Belsimtek is indeed developing great milestones for dcs: world, that other developers and of course us end-users benefit from.

Hey! Just wanted to say i'm still around, patiently waiting. Thank you Belsimtek crew for the recent increase in communication and media. You guys are the best (or worse if you ask my wife) thing that ever happened to helicopter flight simulation. Keep making dreams come true!

Never saw that graph, thanks! I recon the M3 subsystem is the flare dispenser? Now in the dash-10 mission equipment section they go on about the M56/M132 mine dispenser subsystems. I don't see them listed here, but they would be nice to have and i'm sure many a CA commander agrees. I hope that in due time we will see the same diversity in weapon systems from Belsimtek. Though i rather fly slicks myself.

Actually, pilots have rocket control, co-pilot (or peter pilot) has flexguns (miniguns). And of course your crew chief and some soldier with doorgunner training have their crew weapons (m60 in this case). So not only flying, also some shooting and you have to take care of them aswell, while they cover your arse.

6, 3 and 2, in that order. Pretty please? In other words: +1.

Some GUI features that could help multyplayer (illustrated)
Derk replied to Mechanist's topic in DCS Wishlist
That's not what i meant. I mean that we could have this feature that, when a mission designer sets up a client flight with mission role X, the client gets limited in choosing what he flies by that mission role. In the case of CAS, the player gets to choose ground attack capable aircraft. Is the flight for example escort, the player can only choose aircraft fit for that task. This way we keep the choice of flyables as suggested but limited to functionality so there wouldn't be F15's buzzing around that were supposed to be A10's attacking ground targets, as was argumented against these suggestions. -
I'm sorry if it came accros like that. What i meant to ask was why paypal was removed. Furthermore i was wondering if other means of payment were being considered as a result of this. I simply never realised that Mastercard and Visa could be used with regular bank accounts. I am going to look into this, thank you for pointing that out.

Some GUI features that could help multyplayer (illustrated)
Derk replied to Mechanist's topic in DCS Wishlist
Variation to this theme: The ability to create a flight with a certain mission (CAS, CAP, SEAD, transport, etc.) and let the client choose available flyables suited for that mission, filtered by the role assigned to the flight, much as is the case now: Select CAS in the mission editor and the dropdown aircraft list won't let you choose F15 or C130. -
Yikes! credit card is not an option here, if ED or a third party will ever accept my money, it'll have to go through paypal or an internet store that does support it. Please explain why this decsicion was taken and how you envision to re-open the market to your pay(ing)-pal(s).

It is quite an fps hit yes. When viewing the SU-25T in F2 i get 25-30 fps, the UH-1H in F2 bogs down 12-15 fps. What to say... Beta?

I had the same problem with my last pc build. I thought there was nothing i hadn't tried until i set my CPU back to stock values. It seems that the CPU OC i did played havoc on my GPU. Running smooth for 2 months now without OC's. Oh, and the build before this one i had it too, but slightly underclocking my GPU solved the problem. It is also said that you can try to up the voltage on your GPU a bit, but i haven't tried that. Good luck!

My first real sim (top gun and strike eagle on the 8-bit NES not counting) was Activision's A-10 Cuba! Must have logged 1000's of hours. After that mostly demo's, along came il-2, lo-mac (skipped all the flaming starfarce cliffs) then a period of fsx helicopters and now patiently awaiting DCS: UH-1H while reading up on you guys ;)

How to differentiate trigger zones between air and land units
Derk replied to Galwran's topic in Mission Editor
Now, please understand that i am still learning the ME, but what comes to mind is that you can use the "altitude is higher/lower than" conditions to create vertical borders to your trigger zone. It's not perfect, but it should work to solve all 4 issues. -
What i did is take the numbers from the wiki (though they are probably not current) and deploy them in my mission attempts as seems tactically most logical.
