I would be very interested in seeing some footage from the event. The videos on youtube from the 132nd server are a great watch, mostly because of the way comms are handled. It creates a very immersive experience for the viewer, well for me anyway. I even thought about applying for the 121st vAC but unfortunately i can't put in the time i think it deserves. But yeah, i would love to see a video from this or other events like the pow rescue one.

The main difference is that the blackshark has a co-axial rotor system wich eliminates torque, while the huey requires direct control input from the pilot through the rudder pedals to counter the torque produced by the main rotor with the - wait for it - counter-torque rotor (tailrotor). So it is a bit harder to control in a hover or speeds under its transitional lift treshold due to the extra input needed. It has nothing against you in person. ;)

You all go play upstairs so the hueys can go about their merry way. until DCS: Shilka!

I don't have a specfic era i prefer, though helicopters are really my goto type of airframe. It is the type of missions that make the difference for me. See, i'm not much of a fighter pilot or really enjoy engaging others in combat, though i do like the occasional duel in the skies. I'd fly ground attack or even better: logistics! Just let me supply the airbase or farp warehouse with stuff in a persistent online enviroment to ensure its operational status, do some CSAR or insertions/extractions, you know, as long as it has some usable cargo space and gives the satisfaction of pulling such missions off while operating utility and cargo airframes in a combat enviroment. If i have to give a timeframe i'd prefer to be able to do this in it would be from vietnam to the end of the cold war.

Congratulations C@sper! And thank you very much ivan_st for giving all of us a chance to get a module when we can't afford to buy it ourselves.

I want to have the Mi-8 since it came out. If i could i would have bought it myself day 1. So yes, please add my name to the drawing, thank you.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you cichlidfan and VEAO for making this possible. Happy holidays to all!

I would also like to get more feedback through the stick. I just managed to get my hands on a sidewinder ffb2 and started up the huey because well, "this is gonna be awesome!", only to be left a bit underwhelmed. The trimming works great and all and flying with the trim off is cool too, but i would like to feel my skids scraping over the concrete, buffeting, transition through ETL, perhaps a hint of VRS. I would like to feel more of what my helicopter is doing. Now i only had a short flight so i don't know if damage (aside from hydraulic/trim failure) or taking hits is incorporated into the force feedback set or that it is really limited to the trim settings. Belsimtek, if/when you get around to it, please add more aircraft/fuselage shaking to the FF package because, as has been said earlier: it's the only direct link we have with the aircraft.

Looking good. I had to abandon my huey plans unfortunately. Keep yours alive. I will be folowing this. @ tacno: caution there, the topgun is undersized. Look for a thrustmaster fighter-X instead if you want a full size b8 grip. Also, neither has a two-stage trigger like the real one and are cast in plastic instead of metal of course.

Thanks for your work on this mod Toby. Flying the Huey has just gotten so much more immersive. Must have mod! And combined with Highwayman-Ed's towns and villages mod it gets even better! The two of you should team up and create a terrain overhaul pack or something. Georgia needs you!

Improved Towns & Villages Mod
Derk replied to Highwayman-Ed's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Just wanted to say thank you for the time and effort you put into this mod, you made my dcs flying so much more enjoyable. I hope you will be able to work up some satisfying results with the city tiles too. They are in desperate need of your touch! And then, perhaps when it's all done, Toby23 and you could join up and release the titanic_terrain_tile_texture_touch-up pack? anyway, rep inbound for a job well done. Thank you! -
No need to guess, panel sizes are a standard: MS25212 Rev. C pdf

I agree it would be a wise decision to take that route. However, this info was from Januari. It would be nice to have another update soon. So Krieger, or anyone who knows him... pretty please?

The June 21st DCS News Update Discussion Thread
Derk replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
The DCS: Weekly newsreel does so much good for the community. Best thing since sliced bread! Though i own the original Lomac, i have no interest in the full FC3 package. So I am very much looking forward to being able to purchase the Su-25 seperately in due time. Thanks again ED, Wags. -
Great initiative! For the huey part: Wolle wrote dynamic CSAR and infantry re-inforcement scripts that you might want to add into your mission. What it does is generate pick-up and insertion missions based on when a pilot ejects or an infantry group gets x casualties respectively. Ceck out the belsimtek/uh-1h forum or contact him through pm if you're interested. Love the manpad insertion idea btw!

new mission: dynamic CSAR and Air Mobility mission for SP and MP
Derk replied to wolle's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I would avoid using multiple callsigns when possible. I have little experience with the mission editor, but from an operational viewpoint the hueys assigned to these operations will typically have the same callsign. I think you can assign multiple groups to the same callsign so you'd have ie: Dodge 1-1 through 1-4 but also 2-1 through 2-4, etc. This way you can free up different callsigns for different mission types. (I can and do imagine this concept involving FC3 and A-10C in the future along with the slick variants of the huey). Missions like CAP, Intercept, CAS, etc. could be dynamically scripted much like the current set through the use of group_in_zone and the like, right? Or am i just dreaming now? -
Thank you so much! Rep inbound. Now work with me SketchUp!

new mission: dynamic CSAR and Air Mobility mission for SP and MP
Derk replied to wolle's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Wolle, i love what you are doing here. Your scripts are all we need for a dynamic enviroment to fly in. Thank you! Do you plan on expanding this concept further? I was thinking about doing supply runs to ground groups and/or farps when their ammo/fuel supplies run low. Doing ass and trash so to speak. Is this possible too? -
Hey there duckling, I'm planning a huey pit, so your offer is most welcome. What i would like to know is the floor width both at the chin bubble and behind the pilot seat, measured from the pedestal to the airframe. I would also like to know the floor length from the bubble to behind the seat and the space between the pedestal and pilot seat. I hope you can help me out. Thanks.

I have been looking at this: https://www.inventables.com/technologies/desktop-cnc-mill-kits-shapeoko Would that do for panel building? Also want to make a gimbal so i plan to use it for cutting parts for that as well.

Thank you for the update! I feel that with the auto updater and the friday updates, i play DCS and visit these forums with greater pleasure then before. Thanks ED! -
If possible, any sane CO will swap you too. What mental impact would you expect to have from such an event?
