  1. Pop the canopy open as well - Right Ctrl-C. They won't always do it with just engines off.
  2. You could cut the engines and auto-rotate down :D
  3. Nice! Thanks Wags for those screenshots! Looking forward to when she eventually gets a 3D cockpit and AFM.
  4. I was thinking of waiting until the gunner positions were put in. But it seems I have an addiction:(
  5. Noticed something while looking over the front of the Mi-8 with the pilot and crew models. This isn't a big deal and you guys may or may not already know about this. In the Huey, whenever I look left or right the pilot's head will turn in that direction, while the co-pilot's head moves independent of where the pilot's head (my camera) is looking. In the Mi-8, when I look in a direction the pilot's head will not look in that direction, while the rest of the crew will stare in the direction that my camera was looking. I provided screen shots showing this. Again this isn't a big issue and I don't know whether this is a known bug already. When I'm looking to the left: When I'm looking to the right:
  6. Love the slick version, however is there any chance of having an option in the mission editor to select a slick version that has door gunners? Meaning that the blank selection keeps the completely unarmed slick Huey, a door gunner selection (slick with M60s), and then the full rocket/minigun gunship option.
  7. Was too busy looking for the wingtip vorticies to notice the wing flex, will definitely have to check that out!
  8. To help out on what to listen for, I uploaded the test I did for the sound.
  9. I've been able to hear the breathing in the Su-25 and A-10, but it doesn't happen often like in the fast movers like Su-27/F-15C. Try building a lot of speed up in a dive and pull hard in a turn. You should be able to hear it. Make sure your volume isn't low, the breathing isn't very loud if I recall correctly. As for the landing smoke, I did not see it when landing with the Su-27. Haven't tried any other aircraft.
  10. One problem with this: in some of the FC3 aircraft ED kept the warning lights with Russian labeling in English cockpits - specifically in the Su-27. Without Betty saying what happened, I may have no idea what is wrong without: A) Learning to read Russian or B) memorizing what each light means based on its position on the panel, and hope I can recall that correctly in an emergency. This may also be the case with the F-15C and the warning indicator panel - it may still be in English even when the game is set on other languages (not to mention I recall having to zoom in quite a bit just to see the writing on the F-15C warning panel). So unless ED makes language specific warning panels in all the cockpits, we need Betty to say exactly what the problem is. * Edit: I'm assuming the above is correct because the DCS site is in English, German and Russian and thus I'm assuming DCS World has installs for those languages. I've never had a need to download Russian and German versions so I have no idea what the experience is for them. Just my 2 cents, don't have any issue with Betty being scaled down with her warnings if that is indeed correct, as long as I'm able to glance at the warning panel and read exactly what is wrong immediately.
  11. I didn't hear it when first starting DCS after the update, but oddly enough after I exited DCS and opened it back up I hear it now. So for anyone not hearing it, give that a try.
  12. Definitely backing you guys!
  13. I had the same issue, did not pick up a G breath sound (flying Su-27). I even kept pulling to the point of blacking out, still didn't hear it. I'll keep messing with it, see if I can hear it. I might just be doing something wrong, though I can't imagine the pilot wouldn't be huffing on the way to blacking out.

    more?

I can answer that one for you. I thought that missile cruiser was further out:(
  15. Those freaking gauges better be the proper seashell white or so help me Baby Jesus I will storm BST headquarters in full native headdress with a hazing paddle!!!!! THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!!!!!
  16. Forgot all about my posts in this, sorry about that. Ah I see. I've only used player made skins and the modern helmet was on all of them, so I assumed there was no leather cap version. Thanks for the screen shots! Thanks for the heads up on that, I'll search around and see if I can find it!
  17. I see, makes sense and can understand why they mount it there now. I like your solution to the coverage area lol! :devil_2:
  18. LOL! Well, an Apache gun mount at least. I was also sort of thinking of an Mi-24 gun mounting on a Ka-50 (meaning keeping the Ka-50 gun but setup like an Mi-24). In fact, I think I was actually saying that I want an Mi-24 :D Oh don't get me wrong, I like the cannon itself, just not where it is located on the Ka-50. Long as I keep the target to the right side everything is fine.
  19. Looking forward to DCS WWII Europe, would be a lot of fun. Would be great to have scenarios with multiple B-17s with full player crews fighting through to a target, especially when added in with Allied players escorting and German players trying to stop them from reaching a target. Not sure if something like that would work though in the frame rate and lag department. But I can certainly hope for it.
  20. If the Russians were to upgrade this model of the Ka-50 and I could pick what they did with it, pretty much what you mentioned, specifically the Vikhr on all hardpoints. I would like an RWR in the aircraft, but as I've been downed by MANPADS/Heaters far more than radar guided stuff it isn't a priority. I stay clear of SAMs at all possible, and if you have a fighter coming after you and no friendly air cover, prior knowledge of imminent boning isn't going to save you. But I understand why people would still like to have one, so it would be nice if one could be included. I wouldn't remove the laser warning system though, that has saved me a couple times when I assumed all targets were destroyed, and a vehicle that was hidden behind a smoke column was about to give me a love tap. Tanks hurt and being lit up by a bushmaster auto-cannon isn't much fun either. Biggest thing I'd like to change if I could with the BS is the gun placement. Never liked it being mounted on the right side. If I could, I'd have it mounted underneath the aircraft so that I can cover the left side without having to turn the aircraft. Having the sensor mounted in a way to allow full coverage with the gun arc (in a rotating pod) would also be necessary to take advantage of the firing arc, but the current position of the sensor still gives a wider field of view than what the gun can actually cover at the moment (IE to the left of the helicopter). Not possible to put the gun in the nose area because of the landing gear setup, moving it further back along the bottom of the fuselage might not be possible either. But it is still the main thing I'd change if a solution could be found. My understanding is versions of the Ka-52 can mount Igla's on an additional pylon and I've seen photos of this, if possible this would be a nice addition on a Ka-50. Not really that useful, but would still be good to shoot down something like a Blackhawk/Hip with them.
  21. Grats to the Aussies for getting added into DCS, I know those who have been requesting it will be very happy!:) Looking forward to the new sounds and vapor/touchdown effects. Will definitely help with immersion.
  22. It is a shame, since it was a small minority of short bus riders on the forum that didn't understand WIP, majority was quite happy and excited. But I understand the reasons behind them not putting up anymore WIP images as well.
  23. Thanks Sith! Won't let me rep this post, so I rep you in spirit!:D
  24. At the end of each Friday after people have commented to their hearts content, why not move the thread and combine it with a single Wagsday thread that is a sticky in chit-chat? This way people have their chance to comment like this, then at the end the thread is combined with other Wagsday threads into one so that the forum isn't cluttered anymore and everything found in one thread. I think that would be far more productive than threatening people who are just enthusiastic.
  25. Not sure if what I did will help you out in your situation, but hopefully it can give you some ideas. I didn't have any permanent options, and even though the pedals were on carpet they still slipped around a lot. The velcro didn't help me, though I'm sure me being a sasquatch doesn't improve things either. My solution is on the pic at the bottom - ignore the cables, was too lazy at the time to do better cable management with my flight sim controls. I noticed there were holes in the base, so I went to the local hardware store and picked up the shortest bungees that I could find (these are the thick rubber ones that don't have much stretch in them). I used the metal hooks on one end to hook through the holes in the base, then looped it around the metal frame of my desk. Pushed as far as the bungees allowed gave me the distance I needed, especially for my knees to clear the keyboard tray I no longer use (can't pull it out and use the pedals at same time). The pedals no longer move around on me with the bungee reinforcement. Since your setup is on glass, biggest issue is that the metal of the hooks would scratch the glass up. This would be the same for a wood floor as well. Putting a thin rubber mat underneath might prevent the hooks from scratching up anything. However, I don't know what your desk looks like, so you might not have anything to secure the bungees with. Figured I'd still drop off the suggestion on the small chance it might help. Good luck with finding a solution, can be a pain to have them slip around when in a fight.
