  1. Personally, in the F/A-18, I line up a little further back and taxi forward with the center of the flight path vector right down the track. Afterllineup, I taxi a few more feet forward, if the track stays right in the center of the circle I'll lower the launch bar. Haven't had an issue with that.
  2. Is that C-2A a user mod?
  3. That’s one way to get ordnance back to the magazine elevator :)
  4. Any guys who are skin experts browse this page? I’d love to see the VFA-31 CAG skin on the F/A-18C similar to the VFA-103 one out there, they did a fantastic job. I think there is already a VFA-31 line jet but the CAG with the Black tail is better and the other one is a rar file, which I’m not sure how to get that to work.
  5. +1 for static aircraft
  6. +1 for the OP
  7. As a few mentioned before, with the spread thin Dev teams to have a real shot at a “heavier” aircraft there would need to be some solidarity on what it should be as we’d probably only get 1-2 in the next decade. It was also pointed out the smart choice would be a carrier based platform as it fits in perfectly with the current “ecosystem” and directly supports/ encourages the purchase of the upcoming carrier and other carrier based modules. Sure I’d love a high fidelity model of everything out there from B-1s to C-130s Casa 212s and all that but I think the wisest would be an E-2D followed by the C-2A. If you see on YouTube guys are already using the F10 map to play AWACS, with the E-2 you could still fly and in the orbit switch to a radar officer station. As for the C-2, you could do the cargo ops flying between shore airfields or shore fields to the carrier. Some more airframe (role) diversity in the future I think would be a welcome thing. Maybe it’s just me but after awhile it’s like “ok another fighter module......same type flying with a different cockpit...woohoo, what about something different”. Just my $.02
  8. +1......especially for VR, be able to move it down to the seat like where a knee board would actually be.
  9. Hey guys idk if its ever been just openly discussed before about all the requests we have and how ED copes/ prioritizes/ exc. I just wanted to voice my opinion and get others perspective and maybe have someone from ED even join in..... So as I've browsed the forums I see we all have a ton of requests to make DCS better....from fixes, updates, additional features, modules, AI, exc. But I also have seen it said that ED is a relatively small operation meaning manning and budget limitations. On our side, the requests make DCS better making it more fun and easier to get others to join in which translates to more money for ED and their 3rd Parties. From our side, we have some seriously old models that need fixing, few maps/ campaigns, we need more ai models and like half the aircraft are in a forever purgatory of "early access". So from ED id like to know what we as a community can do to help? Is it a budget issues...needing to hire more staff? Keeping the company small on purpose to offset risk during an economic recession? Personally I tell all my friends about DCS and let them take a spin on mine to try and get them hooked, I also have purchased some modules I don't even really fly just to financially support ED and their sustainability. I figure cash is king so anything I can do to help is good. Just wanted to share my thoughts as I see a lot of frustration with some of Ed's project progression and I know these guys are probably stretched thin on what they already have. What do you guys think?
  10. Just a few thoughts in case ED is watching the thread..... With all the work put into the supper carrier, the other low res AI aircraft really need an update (SH-60 and S-3) also we need a C-2....heck if a EA-6B were thrown in we'd have a full CVW circa early 2000's, for realism/immersion this needs to happen and not a user mod. Also someone needs to do an MH-60 module....so much flexibility in the aircraft (US Navy, USAF, US Army and 160th SOAR). Also I wonder, if you can man the air boss station, will you be able to assign commands to Aircraft? For instance, you are in Multi player, you could radio the pilots what cat or parking spot to go to but how will the deck crew know unless there is some sort of command interface and there should be a digital version on the ouija board. Some with the LSO position, will you have a controller for the IFLOLS? Also with the carrier module include AI ships that typically comprise a carrier strike group because that kind of seems like a no brainer for a paid carrier module as well. (It is composed of roughly at least one cruiser, a destroyer squadron of at least two destroyers or frigates, US submarines, attached logistics ships and a supply ship.) Just one mans opinion, but I'd be willing to shell out even more that a regular module price for something that advanced.
  11. So I feel like I read somewhere that you are limited on the number of control axis but after searching a bit can’t seem to find the post. Here’s the deal, finally got the new rig, got everything installed and hooked up, got VR working and the rudder pedals aren’t working. I’m running the TM Hotas Warthog and the new TM pedals....TPR I think. Everything was at default and I tried to figure out how to add an axis for the pedals but no luck so far. Anyone have suggestions? Can you have an axis for Pitch, roll, yaw, L throttle, R throttle? Thanks for the help!
  12. Disregard....after some more trouble shooting I found the fix....the VR headset was plugged into the GPU but the monitor was just plugged to some new style HDMI type port...plugging them both into the GPU fixed the issue
  13. Just got a new setup (specs in signature) and after getting everything downloaded, installed, and set up I can’t get DCS to load in the rift S headset. I hear the music, and desktop screen is like zoomed in (see attachment) yet in the headset I’m in the virtual “white room” and see a loading screen that says “DCS: Loading” but it never loads. I know literally nothing about computers it was tough just getting everything installed so I’m stumped on what to do.....anyone have these issues or know a solution? I set up VR as it’s supposed to using the GPU port and USB port....it recognizes I’m trying to get into DCS but for some reason it never loads (I think it’s supposed to take you to a hangar?) PLEASE HELP!
  14. Hey everyone, I appreciate all the response I got on my last computer rig post, but I have another one for y’all. Thanks for bearing with me as I’ve done quite a bit of research and still feel lost on a lot of computer related things especially as it pertains to DCS as that is the only thing I need it for. So I decided to up my budget and go for a really good system to go with the oculus rift s….. below attached is a setup I just recently configured on ibuypower and am considering purchasing. But before dropping that kind of cash I want to be sure I understand what I’ve done, what I need and it’s the best possible setup for what I want. So here are some questions I’m still trying to figure out if you guys have some insight. Please remember, when I started my research in preparation for my sim project my level of computer knowledge and skills is this…….more GB is good, less is bad. Power button turns on, shut down turns off…..I’m learning pretty much everything else on the fly and my terminology is terrible. 1. Does anyone know anything about the GeForce Titan RTX 24GB (GDDR6)….I have no idea what GDDR6 is or what it does but I assume 24GB on a video card is better than 11GB….but it does carry an extra $1600. The “worth it” factor really depends on the individual, even “slightly better” may be worth it to some, question is how much better is this than the 2080Ti. 2. On the topic of video cards, does DCS allow for use of dual cards? If so will 2 high end cards significantly enhance the graphics? 3. The Z390 Motherboard….Ibuypower has a ton of options for the same motherboard….why? are they really any different other than having an extra few USB ports? 4. From my research an 850 Watt 80+ Gold power supply should do for the above specs. Is there any reason I should go with 1000 watt 80+ platinum? And do those do ok plugged into a regular US home outlet? 5. M.2/PCI-E SSD Card vs. Primary SSD…….I tried to research these and still don’t get it. I set both to 2 TB because I don’t know if I need just 1 or both. Ibuypower says windows will be installed on M.2 drive so if I get a 2TB one do I not need a 2 TB on their primary drive option further down? 6. I see a lot of guys talking about things like overclocking and all these in depth graphics card settings and whatnot. With a computer along these lines will I still have to go in and make a bunch of adjustments (not talking about settings inside DCS) or can I expect almost DCS max settings performance right out of the box? As always I appreciate you guys help!
  15. awesome guys! Thanks for the info, good stuff!
  16. I guess thats a good one, didn't think about that......Im still out on a trip so I can't download and active everything on my new desktop till I get home but I guess I can't activate all my purchases on both my desktop and PC.....so Id have to purchase them twice?
  17. Thanks for the reply. Honestly not sure yet but maybe 1k or so (mostly ground units). I know other guys have done it, but I want to design my own "full blown" invasion on the Persian gulf map in particular.
  18. Hey guys I have a question for the computer savvy among you. So I'm getting a really good PC to run DCS at home but Im a pilot working 2 weeks on/off. For my time away I'd like to take a low end laptop to just work on missions I can fly when I get home. Do you need hardcore performance for that? I want to create some pretty in depth missions with a huge amount of AI units, but I figure as long as I don't try to test the mission it should work out. Can anyone suggest the basic laptop requirements to just build these type missions (no testing the mission just a lot of AI units, waypoints, triggers, exc. from the mission editor screen.) Thanks for the help!
  19. all great info, thanks everyone for the replies. Looking forward to seeing you guys in the skies online.
  20. Awesome info, thank you so much....this is all very confusing for me lol
  21. Yeah the budget is just for the computer. I have the Warthog Hotas, and have alotted other funds for the Rift S, monitor, exc. I figure that should be a sufficient budget for a high end system, right?
  22. Hey everyone, years ago I started out on DCS A-10C but being poor at the time and having little free time couldn't really get into it. Things have changed and I super stoked to be able to get back into the community. So trying to get started I need a good computer to run everything. I know almost nothing about computers and am trying to learn on the fly. I had a bad experience years ago trying to build a machine online from somewhere like Ibuypower and ended up spending the little money I had for a computer that didn't work like it should have (maybe due to the component combinations....I honestly don't know). You guys are the experts so I want to get your thoughts. Here's what Im trying to do: I want to run DCS World (A-10C and F/A-18C with the expansion maps) at the highest settings and use the new Oculus S VR Headset. Eventually once I learn what Im doing I want to join a virtual squadron and fly online. So basically I need a hardcore system that can do it all. My Budget is around $3k to $3.5k for the computer. I was looking at this Xforce RTX Pro for $3290. Here are the stats: Intel Eight Core i-9 9900K Processor overclocked to 4.9GHz Intel Z390 Chipset Motherboard Can display X-Plane, MSFS X, Prepar3d, or other games on one to four screens VR (Virtual Reality) Ready NEW - Fast USB 3.1 32 Gigabytes of DDR-4 3600MHz RAM (supports up to 64GB) 2 Terabyte Solid State Hard Drive at 1800MB/s (SSD) Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti with 11GB GDDR6 850-Watt Power Supply with dual CPU power connectors to support 8-core overclocking 802.11ac Wireless-AC (WIFI) Gigabit Ethernet Port Dual M.2 Ports on Motherboard for adding a second high-speed SSD Multiple USB 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1 ports Also one USB Type-C™ port Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Windows 10 Two Year Warranty Dimensions 7.9 in x 17.7 in x 17.9 in Supports one, two, three, or four displays Any help, insight, or other suggestions you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Zack!
  23. yeah I figured this would be the answer. I guess the idea was just to try to make it as real as posible. But I followed your link and the squadron looks awesome!
  24. Im pretty new to DCS A-10C but I was just thinking about things that I wish existed for flight sim and it gave me an idea that i wanted to get other peoples take on and see if they think something like this would work. Say there was a center in Houston, Texas that was around DCS A-10. This center does 4-day programs in Full Scale A-10 cockpits. It would be run like you might expect of a fighter squadron and room and board would be included. The facility would have Pilot quarters, classrooms, a chow hall, squadron bar, sim room, exc. The programs would be: Basic Flight School ($600)- Students would get a mix of classrom and simulator rides teching the basics of A-10 procedures, weapon employment, and fliight. Course would end with a final combat mission. Advanced Flight School ($600)- a mix of classroom and sim rides, now that people know how to operate the jet, training would get into advanced techniques, flight planning and flying with a wingman, exc. Squadron Deployment ($1200)- (prerequisite: advanced flight school) here guys would basically spend 4 days flying missions as if they were deployed with a flight squadron ......anyway i was just wondering if something like this would be worth looking at getting into, id pay to do this but idk if anyone else would.
