  1. What I have found best practice for me. Start windows vr. Do the look around if required. Start dcs via taskbar icon. Once in game make sure full screen is selected. Then do an alt+enter to stretch the monitor view to full screen (adds some fps for me as the vid card isn't drawing the desktop). If you are.experiencing pauses or ctd. Open the task manager to monitor ram and vram usage. Adjust settings or add memory as needed. I'll post my settings later today.
  2. Thanks. I wasn't turning it on at the gauge. I was trying to find the crew chief menu but couldn't; so I decided to just try hooking up without assistance when someone started talking in my ear. 10 forward, 10 left... Too cool.
  3. I can’t get it to work. Not does the radar altimeter work when I do a cold start. Am I missing something on these two things?
  4. I also have the standalone DCS but have to use the SteamVR app to run DCS. So you are either using the Steam or oculus software. The question is, taking all things into consideration, which one is a better overall fit for you? Now you’ll never know...
  5. When I first set it up I installed the Rift Software and revive. I would start up DCS and then the Rift and Steam software would start automatically. I have since un-installed the Rift software. So now what I do is start the WMR software. click on the desktop that I have hanging on a wall. Start SRS, Teamspeak, and DCS that are on the taskbar. This will open SteamVR automatically. Make sure you start WMR first or you don’t get the opportunity to do the look around to orient the headset. If you don’t then you will only have head rotation in the cockpit.
  6. The cockpit seemed small to me. I made most of the A-10c cockpit panels for my pit build so I have a good idea of scale within the pit. I adjusted the Odyssey’s physical IPD till it was clear and comfortable and the value returned in the Windows settings is 71. My optometrist confirmed that my IPD is 71. When I set the in game IPD to 71 the in game scale is true to life.
  7. Check it for yourself. Walk out to the tarmac and stand in front of a game generated character. Change the IPD and see if they get taller/shorter. I haven’t done this but others have and said there is a difference. I plan on doing it but just haven’t yet. I just set my IPD so the cockpit is proper scale to real world measurements.
  8. I was getting short 2-5 second pauses where the view would drop to the Steam holodeck fairly regularly, also load up times of multi-player games was taking minutes. After doing some investigation I found that all of my system and video memory was being used. Yesterday I dropped another 16Gb of memory in (for a total of 32Gb). The pauses were all but gone. I had one when I first fired up a single player mission and looked around real fast. The multiplayer servers that I play on loaded up in less than a minute and there were no pauses at all. I fixed the size of my swap file at 1024Mb as well then checked ram usage with DCS, Teamspeak, SteamVR, DCS-SRS, and WindowsVR running. 22Gb was being used. That’s a lot of memory. Shame memory is so stupid expensive right now.
  9. “Import Windows” what does that mean? Question of comfort. I know as I have a pretty big head. I ended up making a new face foam piece. The benefits were that I can wear the headset for hours straight, I no longer have to wear my glasses under the headset, the FOV increased, and the sweetspot grew substantially.
  10. Thank you guys. That was just what I needed. Flying the Huey in VR is incredible but those viewports were driving me nuts as my eyes kept trying to focus on them when I was scanning for targets.
  11. There is 2 view ports being displayed in 2d in vr. 1 is red and indicates the the cyclic, collective, throttle, and torque pedal position. The other is a pilot, co-pilot, gunner status screen. In VR it is physically painful to have these displayed. How do I turn them Off? Thanks
  12. Yes it changes world scale based on viewpoint separation. My viewpoint separation (IPD) is 71. I set my Odyssey to 71. Then I used a clear ruler to measure the ADI. I kept lifting the headset to match the ruler distance from my VR viewpoint, closing one eye and then the other to make sure I got an accurate measurement. what I found was that by matching the in game IPD to the headset’s physical adjustment that the gauges were all the correct sizes. Try it. even if it the matching numbers is just a fluke for my IPD you can still make the cockpit real life size. Then you can set your i game eye point as needed depending on you HMDs resolution.
  13. I run mine similar to you but I run trees, clutter, and preload at 75%. I also leave chimney smoke at 1. I like have some aa (x2) to get rid of the shimmering. And I can run PD at 1.4 with the Odyssey. Runs at 45fps from takeoff to landing. Frickin beautiful too.

    HUD

I use the Odyssey. It seems to me the the HUD is adjusted for lower resolution HMDs. This makes the HUD elements and text to appear sort of fat and fuzzy on the Odyssey. I lower the intensity on the CDU and have changed the old and new k values to 80 in the lua file. The HUD is much clearer now but not quite there yet. Is there any other values I can change in the lua to make the HUD elements less “fluffy”?
  15. I get it in my Odyssey. I think it might be due to the memory required in DCS. I have 16Gb of ram and DCS in VR uses 98% of it. Seems like a lot but the game runs beautifully once it’s loaded up so no complaints.
  16. I ran a 4k on a pair of 290s. I was able to lower AA to 2x from 4x which made up some of the difference. Never dropped below 30fps. Switched to VR so.I don't have that setting config anymore.
  17. Duh, it’s in the SnapViewDefault.lua file. I was adjusting view 10 instead of view 13. Been a while since I was in that file...
  18. Thank you,but as I said; the viewpoint adjustment keys are not working in 2.5.
  19. No only in-game. I only use the Steam settings if a game doesn’t have the option.
  20. I have no issues reading the gauges with the Odyssey. I only demoed the Rift, never played DCS with it. There is a “sweetspot” and IPD needs to be measured and set. I run 1.4 SS and no MSAA. I also have a fat head so I made a new foam pad to accommodate it. This brought the lenses closer to my eyes and the benefits were pretty extreme. I no longer had to wear my glasses, the sweet spot doubled and the FOV increased. Try taking off the foam face pad to see if that helps. If so I’ll post picks and instruction to make a “fathead” facepad.
  21. Had keys for adjusting eye point in 2.0 but they don’t work in 2.5. There are the VR centering and zoom keys but that puts me closer to the MIP that I like. Is there a lua that handles VR eye point?
  22. MR works great in DCS. I have a 1080ti and run modified high settings and Super sampling on 1.4. I have to turn off AA, HDR, and heat blur. Turn down shadows to flat. Water to medium. Trees and distance sliders in the middle. Chimney smoke density to 1. 45ish FPS down low and 60 to 90 up high. 2.5 is beautiful!
  23. It also changes the speed perception. A higher number feels faster. I run with a setting of 1.30 so I can better gauge my speed going into a turn.
  24. Hi Guys, I bought the Odyssey with the idea that I would probably return it and wait for something with an even higher resolution. Boy was I wrong. I spent 4 hours yesterday practicing procedural landings just because it was so much fun. didn't launch 1 missile, drop 1 bomb, or even shoot 1 round. I am totally hooked on VR. On that note I will be selling off my cockpit stuff. to be honest (due to life getting in the way) I never even got everything wired up. I used Reactorone's panels. The top plates are black over translucent white. The middle and bottom plate are clear. I'm pretty sure I have all of the switches and encoders for the panels. I have Brydling's 256 switch controller and an Arduino MEGA2560. 16ft strip of green LEDs diodes, connectors, and wire I also have a 22" touchscreen monitor (Planar 2230mw) that I won't be needing either. I'm in South Carolina, USA. Is there any interest in this stuff? A link to a few pics https://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=1453
  25. I whole-heartedly agree with Magnanimous. I'm actually here today to sell me Helios monitor and cockpit panels because I won't be needing them any longer. VR is WAY better than 3 screen, 3D, or 4K. Oh yea, get the 1080ti and the Samsung Odyssey if you are doing VR now.
