Looking at the owner's manual for your TV you should turn off MEMC and DLC. Hope this helps. John EDIT: And use the HDMI3 input.

Make sure you have all of the post processing "stuff" turned off on the TV. On my LG I had to select PC as the input source and turn off the "TruMotion" feature. Yours may have something similar. John

Issues with 4K resolution and monitor
Thick8 replied to ESA Dodo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had my optometrist make a pair of cheap glasses that focus at 42" in front of me. I swap out my progressive lens glasses whenever I sit down at my gaming machine. Works perfectly. -
3 screens delivers much better immersion than 1 large screen. Unfortunately you will notice the lack of vertical resolution by just going wider. You could opt for 3 large screen TVs as they are fairly cheap now. John

I was reading that the Arduino will default to 9600 baud rate. Many people on the Arduino forum recommend that it be raised to 115200. Whether or not that will make a difference with DCS I don't know. this is done in the device manager. John

I have 2 290 video card. I will be running my 3 main screens the 2 MFD monitors and a CDU screen. I want to minimize the FPS hit of the 5 screens. Would there be a difference between USB or VGA monitors? John

I'm hooking up my panels. Before I but a buy a Bodnar board to run my encoders I wanted to ask if you've made any headway with the update to allow your board to run them. Thanks, John

It's who he is. You'll get used to it after a couple of years. ;)

I had some light bleed through issues around the edges of mine even after painting. I ended up using liquid electrical tape. It is much thicker than paint and doesn't bleed between the layers. It's also a brush on paint so you don't have to tape off the panels to prevent overspray. BTW I have Reactor1's panels too. He really did a nice job on them. John

Major Announcement: New software to to connect panels to DCS

I found this for position feedback http://www.usdigital.com/products/ma3#description Would I just use a continuous rotation servo for the motion part of it? -

Hi Ian, Thanks for the reply. I am a TOTAL Arduino NOOB. If you program wasn't basically cut and paste I wouldn't have even attempted to try to build my own gauges. So when you say ''glue code" I'm looking for my bottle of Elmer's. How would I do gauges like altitude, compass, HSI, etc. using your wonderful cut and paste method? -

I ordered 360 degree servos and they came in today. I hooked 1 up to the VVI because it's the fastest gauge on the panel. It was precise through the whole range of motion. I did yoyos for about 20 minutes just to watch it move. Very cool. Is there code in DCS-bios to run stepper motors for the compass and such? I know I'll have to come up with some sort of feed back system. I'm looking into 360 degree repeating potentiometers that I can mount on micro steppers. If I can put together the hardware will you add the control command to DCS-bios if it doesn't yet exist? Thanks, John -
Very nice indeed. I used the same top plate material as you. Be careful as the top black layer is easy to scratch off. It won't rub off but if you stack the panels the switch terminals on the top will cut right through it and it won't be evident until it is backlit. Had to re-cut mine. I used clear plastic for my middle and bottom layers. That allowed for the LED strips to be glued directly to the bottom of the panels. Are the panels of your own design?

I ordered 3 s125 1t servo to try out. It has 1 full turn of travel which should simplify the build as it will eliminate the need for additional gears. They're $15 a piece so it will be more expensive. I'll let you know how it works out when it arrives. John

Well that was tedious. It's looks a little grainy in the pic but it's not in reality. the gauges are 1.75" but I have them a little closer together than spec because I was originally gong to use a monitor to display the MIP. Now with DCS-bios I can loose that idea but I don't want to redraw the whole thing.

I hate drawing gauges. Does anyone have the engine gauges drawn up that I can have? John

It has become increasingly difficult to locate information in the home cockpit section. I was wondering if it can be broken down into sub-categories. I for one would like to see an Arduino sub-section. Even that could be broken down into LEDs, LCD's, Gauges, etc... Maybe a section for cockpit frames, motion control, displays, etc... Thoughts. John

How much for the gauge panel drawings? I have all the equipment where I work to lase, cut, and 3D print the whole thing. It would save me the time of having to draw it all up. I used Reactor1's drawings for all my side console panels and am very happy with them. John

Major Announcement: New software to to connect panels to DCS

Thanks for the link. I did find 18 and 8 tooth gears (and shafts) on Amazon. So that will give me just a little over a 2:1 ratio. All with free shipping. Will go ahead and get a few more servos as well. I'm going to draw up the engines/apu gauge panel as one unit and try to laser it out next week at school. I'll have to wait for the gears to draw up the gearbox/backplate. I have those strip LEDs as well so I'm going to steal your backlight idea. -

Wow you do nice work. Where did you get your gears and axle shafts? Did you lase or router your panels? -

As I only have 160 degree mini servos I can't get the full range of rotation of the fan speed but it looks smooth enough for me. Gonna pick up some 360 deg. ones to test. -

THIS IS SO COOL!!! Did another raid on Radio Shack and cleaned them out of micro servos. Took about ten minutes to setup a flaps indicator. I was stumped about how I was going to make gauges work. I was going to set up multiple monitors for the MIP. Gotta make a run on another shack tomorrow to get enough servos to run all of my gauges. Thanks for this wonderful tool.
