  1. Honestly, if you hadn't said anything, I would have never known that ever panel in there wasn't the real thing. What did you use? Which ones are, and which ones arent? I'm assuming that the data cassette loader isn't, I believe deadman was saying he's been on the lookout for one of those for years.
  2. Looking better every day! I really need to get working on mine to catch up. Maybe when I get my LGP I'm getting it will be just the thing to my my butt in gear and push forward again. Of course, now that Summer is coming to a close, it will allow for more "downtime" meaning more Pit time! :)
  3. Is it just me, or is this just getting stupid? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=281475948338
  4. Looking fantastic! What happened to the three monitor? Decided on one big one? Gotta tell ya, at the end of that first video, I felt like saying, "Negative on the flyby Maverick, the pattern is full." I've never seen so many A-130s since I was stationed at Keesler AFB!
  5. PM'd you
  6. Nice reference!
  7. Could be, yes, but of course you already know what I'm interested in.
  8. Shagrat, a question for you regarding the extension. I too have an extension, but mine has four springs from the extension to the floor, a-la Flim's version. On your stick, do you find that the handle itself twists in any way? If not, how did you keep it from twisting? I'd like to try the one large spring method. I found that the springs included were a bit on the heavy side. I put in lighter springs, which helped, but now they might be a little too light. If you bring the stick back and to either side, it tends to stay there without a little help getting it back to center. Have you tried it with a helicopter? The extension makes it far easier to control than without.
  9. I bet you could find a real one for less! Yeah, I'd probably get one if the made it in an A-10C variety. :music_whistling: Wonder if the wife would let me put a mortgage on the house? :smilewink:
  10. Really sorry Tacno! I did not even see this until just now. I actually purchased the stick extension from whartsell. And I did see your articles. I always keep a good eye on your site. Believe me, you are always motivating me! :)
  11. Very nice work! And a most excellent hobby machine! When are you going to open up shop? ;)
  12. Cool. Mind sending or posting a pic after you got a few in place? That's the only thing, besides time of course, keeping me from trying to run backlights right now. Trying to figure out not how to wire them in the panel, but how to run all the power to them.
  13. Hey DC, just curious, what are you running your light strips to?
  14. Looking fantastic!
  15. That's a pretty cool vid. Thanks. I should be in the garage too. I've been way too out of sim for a couple weeks. Hopefully I can get back in soon. Next week, for sure.
  16. Very nice. Thanks for the CDU Fritz. Still planning on using the transparency paper method of attaching the buttons?
  17. Copy!
  18. Had a question for anyone who might be able to help. Anyone used a real TACAN panel? Silly me, I thought maybe I could just pin it out myself forgetting that this is just a control head for the receiver box down in the E&E compartment. (Assuming that the A-10 hasn't E&E compartment? Or are the boxes just all spread out all over the place?) Anyway, is there any way to either get a schematic of the controller head, or has anyone converted one to simulator use? In other words, do I need to tear the whole thing apart and try to simply wire the actual components, or replace the actual components with simple ones? The only one I was able to pin out was the volume knob and the receiver on knob.
  19. Sure! I'm pretty wiped out by the back nine, though. ;) how about I'll be there in virtual mode. :D
  20. DM, I've had great luck with my i5 quad core Ivy Bridge. It's 3.4 with 3.8 w/turbo boost. (Unlocked, so able to oc, I have not yet seen the need to overclock though, as I've never had any slow downs or stuttering with DCS.) It's a dedicated machine just for the pit, so that's the only real use it gets. The MB is a GigaByte GA-Z77-U5D. Video is a Geoforce 660ti. 16G. With RAM cheap, I'd go with 16G. Self built. I'm a Mac man myself, so this particular rig I put together is able to also be a Hackintosh, should I choose to dual boot. Don't multi monitor except for the panels, so no opinions there. Haven't done much flying, though. Windows crashed a couple days ago when doing an update, and it won't even return to a previous save point. It's been years since I've had to "work" on getting a computer to run. About as long as it's been since I tried my first Mac, so it's taken me some time in trying to get it back. Spent 3 hours yesterday with MS, and the after the sixth person they transferred me to, with that person, neither one of us were able to understand each other's non-native tongue (me in eng, him in Hindi) I gave up and just hung up.
  21. I haven't noticed that anything interferes with the stick at that height. The only time I really mess with the curves after the initial setup is when I'm trying to refuel. I still can't do that to save my life. I can be rock steady till 10 feet or so, then all of a sudden I start over correcting. Everything.
  22. Since I don't have a landing gear panel yet, I installed my trusty gyro cup holder in its place. :) so time for both! :D still a lot to go, though. (Including version 2.0) Now to get the I/O sorted.
  23. My TARDIS Just a small update. Seeing Deadman's latest pics inspired me to make a glareshield. This one is strictly a mock-up, though. All it is is simple construction paper, wood, and thin aluminum. I Just to wanted to see what problems I'd run into before trying to cut any metal or waste a bunch of time. Are there still problems with it? Absolutely. But then again, it's just a pretend of a pretend piece. But at least it gets me something to look at when I do finally make the correct glareshield. ;)
  24. Ha! See!? I don't care what anyone else says about you, DM. You do have a sense of humor! I kid, of course. :smilewink: but I swear, if you don't have an "A-10's-Are-Us" store nearby, you could open one! :D
