  1. Thank you pmiceli - a great read and summary! Much appreciated!
  2. As others have discussed, and picking up on effects of engine management by content folks (links in this thread) - Yes, the torque of the engine, the effect of the dorsal fin in this model, and engine management will cause the nose to yaw about a bit depending on a multitude of settings, and how hard you are pulling on the stick. Which is absolutely WONDERFUL, I love it; however, some ways I have found to mitigate it. I have mapped rudder trim to my Throttle HOTAS (Thrustmaster) and will trim accordingly to offset roll induced by engine power, torque, boost settings. It is very dynamic, you will do this a lot. I also set very small curve changes to create a lower rate of change off the initial axis movement of the stick for Pitch and Roll. If you have rudder pedals, if you find that constantly trimming the Rudder is laborious and tricky, especially in combat, offset inertia rolls with rudder input, this will keep the front from wobbling when in a turning fight. It won't completely eliminate it, but it will reduce it. Also, from another excellent vid, pulling back on the stick hard will cause oscillation, sometimes just let off the pressure a bit, and the nose oscillation will dampen down. My 2 cents FWIW - many fighters cannot get away from her in climbing nose up energy fights, such a wonderful quirky airplane!!!
  3. So if we can get modern airfields on a WWII period map - can I get modern engines in my Me 262, maybe some AIM 9X's or radar? How about the A-10C with lookdown radar capability and JHMCS full integration? Of course I am being facetious, but it seems there is always some push somewhere to get ED to move away from the realism and immersion that is one of the core components of who they are. I say to those folks, thier are plenty of titles out there that will let you have those scenarios. So you can play those, and play DCS when you want immersion. Win win! However, there is some excellent suggestions here for "setting the clock", not sure how feasible that is.
  4. Sydy already hit a big one, but a few others can trip you up: 1.) Boost knob not tied to Throttle, or set too high while throttle is pulled back. 2.) Propeller speeds not in Green or Blue zones of RPM (too low), check your Propeller speed knob position, make sure you are in Auto and not switch based pitch increase or decrease. 3.) Mixture knob, make sure it is in Auto Rich, vs. Auto Lean or full on full forward position. 4.) Make sure your Intercooler and Oil cooler flaps are at least in Neutral and not closed, causing overheating - not sure if modeled yet, but something to check.
  5. Same sir, have most of my mappings done to my Thrustmaster HOTAS, still tinkering with a few more before I commit on the joy stick (like brake lever on bottom mapping possibly as brake release?) I have noticed some things though with Cylinder Head Temp, and Ammeter in regards to current. Even when I have Boost slaved to Throttle (low altitude) or Off position, with Intercooler neutral, and oil cooler set to neutral and cowling full closed at cruising speeds of 250 to 300 knots, my cylinder head temps are pegged at 300! All other metrics like oil temp, fuel pressure, oil pressure, system Hg, manifold pressure etc. are all within green or blue ranges. The propeller selector is set to green RPM engine speeds relative to the throttle - but those cylinder head temps peg every time . . . are we still dealing with WIP for EA things? Also my ammeter always reads zero, even with generator on, and the startup manual doesn't show anything to make sure it gets current. Still, I am in seventh heaven right now!!!
  6. Just noticed your tag on signature, made me laugh.
  7. Same sir, dollar for dollar the most enjoyable "game" out of many that I have ever invested in.
  8. My final selection also! Have faith, it appears to me that many synergies and development strategies, along with new developers are increasing the depth and breadth of updates! Meaning ED is ramping up fairly quickly I believe. You will fly the ME!
  9. Just downloaded the manual, and did a quick search for my name, sure enough there I am (actual name); however, I was gobsmacked when I went through the list of all levels of backers. Hundreds of people, thousands. A rough calculation using rows and columns yielded 2,800+ good folks that donated. A hats off, to everyone that initially rolled with the Kickstarter, and another big thank you to ED for salvaging that effort and bringing us these wonderful birds. I have been having a blast just mapping the throttle quadrant to the Thrustmaster A-10 HOTAS. This bird is going to bring hundreds upon hundreds of hours of enjoyment. A big thank you to everyone!:thumbup:
  10. Should be a button that indicated "Get License" with the P-47 highlighted in backers profile. Issued once I selected. it.
  11. So glad to have seen the previews! After six long years, and Kickstarter initial excitement! Wooo Hooo, yah ED!
  12. Yeah, weird and anachronistic.
  13. Just chiming in, same boat, original kickstarter here. Very grateful that ED picked this up and saved it for us. Those six years have gone quick, and we are so near! Already working out mapping my A-10 HOTAS to work as a throttle quadrant! Will be fun to finally flip the switches, tweak some levers, and hear her fire up!
  14. Looks like you found the link for SSE 4.1 support, glad it worked!
  15. I was getting this error: DCS A-10C Warthog by ED If player was hit by missile when in cockpit view, dcs frozen - fixed Latest patch fixed! Thanks ED!!!
  16. Did you see the latest patch notes? https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/ This fixed my issue, specifically: DCS A-10C Warthog by ED If player was hit by missile when in cockpit view, dcs frozen - fixed
  17. I am getting something similar, but with different module and circumstance. However, using the USS Theodore (CVN 73?) only, I get CTD or frozen screen when I am damaged from enemy boats while flying the A-10C on the Persian Gulf Map. This is a standalone simple mission I created. Once I take damage from enemy boat fire, screen will freeze in cockpit of A-10C, and sounds will continue in background, but DCS is unresponsive and never recovers. If I remove CVN 73 from the mission, this does not occur. If needed I can upload information. Just wanted to bolster your account that for my simple mission the presence of a CVN will cause DCS to lockup on aircraft (piloted) taking damage.
  18. Odd man out, but just as relevant I guess. Command line install/updater. Launched, auto-login, no issues. Did a quick and dirty mission, flew around the Stennis, frame rate good. Quick check, all good. 2D Track IR user.
  19. Sorry, was going off memory. Will stick with "upgraded" for future context, I should have left that out, since it was only a recollection. Whatever rolls off the "line", will be looking forward to it.
  20. Sigh. Shows join date of 2013, I was flying on Steam in 2011. In that time, I have paid for the BS1 to BS2 upgrade. Will happily pay for the A-10C suite 3 to A-10C suite 7 (I think) for something I have flown with enormous entertainment and knowledge transfer for 8 years. If I get to keep the old one, cool, but as stated, mission designs might require the newer one, so before anyone gets twisted about that. I spend as much or more on the Borderlands titles in 3 years for DLC etc. than I spent on DCS in 10, and that includes a healthy garage of modules and WWII assets, and Combined Arms. I have spent more on ARMA I, II, III, more on Fallout and all it's iterations, many other titles. The amount of money I have spent on other more known titles far outstrips anything I have spent on DCS over an 11 year period, and it is THE only title that has kept me entertained that long. All these threads bashing DCS on this pay model, that pay model, development rollout, paying for this, and paying for that get old, really old. To top it off, they saved the WWII birds from another developer and ate a poo sandwich on that one, and I just wait patiently for our P-47D, because I know even after 6 years, it will be worth the wait. Spent a lot of money, on lots of gaming stuff over the years, ONLY DCS has kept pace with my interest, kept me devoted, kept me entertained long after many have faded. The number of upgrades to the original 1.5 and earlier, the number of modules added on, the amount of time I have spent in different airframes, tanks, lorries etc. under one title makes DCS literally the cheapest game I own for the content you get. A tad frustrated with all the complaints and insinuations of bad business practices etc. Apologies.
  21. How are you being held hostage? It clearly states you can fly the current, until the new one is released. Then you get the new one at a discount. Same evolution we went through with the KA-50, from BS1 to BS2. The "prior" module won't incorporate or work with a lot of updates happening I imagine. Even if you got to keep the A-10C suite 3, and get the A-10C suite 7 (I think), why would you fly the older suite 3 version?
  22. Seen the whole "like/dislike" up/down vote thing in online game forums before. What a screaming disaster. However, as a long time member (2012 Steam version, joined the forums in 2013), I can say the dynamic of these forums has changed, and for a good reason. There is a lot more chatter about ED/DCS doing right/wrong, good/bad etc. Personally, I tire of all the wailing and gnashing of teeth; however, it also indicates DCS is getting wider traction and a more active audience. The silver lining, the ying to yang so to speak.
  23. You forgot reciprocating masses for piston engines, fluid, thermo and hydro dynamics of multi cylinder power plants. Damage modeling that is incorporating a multiplicity of failures encompassing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems that are completely different from their implementation in a modern fighter. It is like comparing apples to oranges when saying one is more difficult than the other. I am sure if someone had to design a Tesla from scratch, as compared to designing a 1969 Mustang Boss 429 from scratch, they would both be significant under takings. Difficult and time consuming each in their own way IMHO. Couple that with the time it took them to get actual drawings from the Smithsonian for the P-47 as none existed in the public domain. :smilewink:
