THis Looks Interesting - Finch VR - VR hand controllers
wormeaten replied to KatBreath's topic in Virtual Reality
I doubt it. Even now without VR need we will have benefit from such 3D cursor using mouse. It is completely different approach then what it is now. 3D moving of cursor should acting similar like it is 3D view hendeling in some RTS game. Other important issue is to cursor stay in space not be effecting by head motion. -

As I understand this is display feature and not effecting on computer performance so should work with similar performance on computer. -
THis Looks Interesting - Finch VR - VR hand controllers

People when you will realize there is no hand controler in DCS without 3D positioning in cockpit. First step for that must be done by ED creating 3D mouse cursor. Right now is 2D. -
Oh yes it is. TV have some sort of increase picture quality on lower resolutions and you don't have problem to use 4K on desktop he will use 1080p or 1440p only on gameplay. For work he is free to use 4K with GTX 970 so it is benefit in any other usage out of gameplay. Anf itf it is 3D model he can use it in DCS + large screen will give him more immersion, joy and performance with 4K TV using 3D 1080p. Difference is noticeable similar like between picture quality 1080p monitor vs TV. Just go for it.

How to compensate for camera angle in Opentrack?
wormeaten replied to Raven257's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yea, for me too. :pilotfly: -
It is simple just multiply your resolutions and score is your square pixels your GPU have to deal with in configuration. Following this logic single 970 is not good for 4K. But according to 4K users most of the people playing games on 1080p or 1440p which give better picture on 4K TV and are not decreasing fps comparing with your 5040x1050. For playing on 4K you will need new GPU but there is catch. If you buying 1070 or 1080 be aware this GPU have bottleneck on older CPU so you may not have full performance from it and get disapointed or have to change compleet new configuration. On other hand RX 480 ned new GTX 10X0 drop price for GTX 980ti so you can get it for 400$ and less this days, new one offcourse. GTX 980ti should get you full 4K in DCS.

It is pointless to use Leapmotion just as some sort of AR. We need 3D positioning of the mouse cursor in 3D cockpit. Only then you will be able to use Leapmotion inside the DCS. Leapmotion is open source and will be possible to make something similar for DCS but right now solution for such things not exist in DCS at all. Problem is from proper 3D positioning mouse cursor benefit will have all players even those who using normal mouse.

Grazie Simone. Very god review with major point for DCS usage. I quoted some details which in my opinion have major issues to gameplay experience and make decision buy VR, UW 34" monitor or 50" 4K TV. I know it is completely different thing and they pro and cons are completely opposite. This is one of the best VR review from DCS player perspective focused only on important issues. I want to encourage you to make more detailed review, more in details description than screenshots. One of the question is what do you think how much 3D effecting on reading HUD and distance view. Is it better without 3D or is it both resolution and 3D or 3D not effecting on it at all so it is resolution only issue? Cheers m8. -
This prows Leapmotion is capable to dissent hand tracking. Major problem lies in DCS. DCS got 2D mouse cursor in 3D environment what make it less precise. This 2D to 3D transition is causing it and with Leapmotion it is doubled because you are transfering it from 3D to 2D and than again from 2D to 3D. Other problem which increasing this precision. Headtracking! Cursor is not positioned in space because how you changing your view and moving your head mouse cursor is folowing your view and it is not positioned in 3D space at all so you need to coordinate your head moving with cursor moving what is sometime hard by its self. So this is actualy job for DCS devs to create real 3D spacing of cursor inside cockpit than maybe Leapmotion devs could do something with it for further implementation of Leapmotion or any other hand tracking device. Also cursor should be positioned only in space by mouse or what ever controls you are using and not be affecting by headmove. Without this there is no proper hend using even with mouse. This will significantly improve precision in cockpit interaction in genera not just with Leapmotion or VR.

I will wait little with new hardware at least one year. We are witness how RX 480 effecting on GPU market. For example GTX 980Ti drop price to 400$ and for q4 RX 490 is announced. On CPU last 5 or 6 years because AMD fail with Buldozer Intel didn't release nothing significant new technology. Probably keeping something to answer AMD if they do something better. AMD announced new ZEN CPU for end of the year so will be smart to wait this time not just because AMD CPU. This will change price and push Intel to show new ace from sleeve.

It is related, for example RX 480 make Nvidia to drop price of GTX 980Ti to 400$ and it is announced RX 490 for q4 what will shake market little bit more. I'm not favoring AMD or Nvidia I'm in favor of customers.

Whot is your gain with Cross Fire configuration? Single GPU vs 2xCF in FPS same res? If CF is worth it now we can think about to buy 2 RX 480 8GB 230$ and connect it in CF. -
Open Source Virtual Reality - OSVR and DCS

About hands in VR. I'm specifically talking about here from DCS user perspective in everything related with VR on this forum. So for example I'm happy with only seating experience and tracking as well. It will be nice to have your hands inside virtual cockpit and using all this switches like in real thing what is our potential VR user goal in the end. Leap motion is one of possible solution same as glove. Major problem for this is not limitation of those hardware, major problem is DCS. For using such hardware inside cockpit in game we need 3D space for mouse cursor. Right now we have 2D mouse cursor which we use for interaction with cockpit instruments and working OK until you don't use head tracking. Problem people describe for leapmotion using instead of mouse is similar. So conclusion is we already have hardware for it only problem is implementation such solution in specific game what is Game developer work not hardware dev. -

Unfortunately I can't find it anymore but I was definitely on some page with latest compatibility list OSVR GitHub or Wiki or something. And Steam VR is working so DCS should work. Build in pixel density in DCS work for CV1 as well for Vive so must working for OSVR as well. Also there is some free app which work as Oculus Rift emulator so your OSVR should be recognized as Rift. Compatibility shouldn't be a problem at all. Edit: Found it and here is the links. https://www.reddit.com/r/OSVR/wiki/content -
Just prepare bucket near you for full immersion.
