TrackHat / TrackIR menu problem
wormeaten replied to Turnip's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was having similar problems in past but to be honest don't know exactly what did I to to start working. Sometimes help to start new clean profile. So working with some profile but with some not I don't know why. About Opentrack and choppy. You need to play with accela filter setup. My movemant was too fast and choppy but after playing with accela I found full smooth setup for me. -
All this advantages Vive Lighthouse have over OR is questionable simply by practical issue. How many of you have clean space in your room to use it without any real room obstacles? So more than 80% of us will using it in siting position anyway and never use this advantage. So better picture quality and lower price will be major factor for decision. This is the only thing where Lighthouse can really prove its potential. If will be precise to map whole cockpit so you can use it with switching all switches inside. Waiting for first results vicx, good job.

Track IR 5 vs EDTracker
wormeaten replied to DblAAssassin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases This is freeware and if you have web cam you can try it for free. Use face tracking. This days face tracking work good and you can even dedicated wanted core to it so will not effect on your game performance. If you want something else similar to trackIR and to work out of the box than use than is better go there and buy clipsy bundle. http://mansloth.com/?page=clipsibundle It is 1/3 cost of trackIR and work the same. TrackIR is overrated and overpriced. -
In the past when DK1 start they talking it is great and no one mention screen door effect and terrible blurriness and unreadable instruments in DCS. there was minority who talk about it and in the end they was right. DK1 is unplayable for serious games like DCS. I don't have reason not to believe some user who is experience to all versions and give impressions pretty much realistic without any conflict of interest. Maybe this difference in subjective feeling come from different focal lenses. Vive have bigger and maybe magnified more so in same time magnifies any imperfection too. He repeat several times Vive look more like DK2. Must be a reason for it.

Yes, sorry you are correct for "per eye" (po oku,) but I think only for CV1. On the video guy from Valve say Vive have 1080p screen what is exactly like DK2. User confirm that. I don't believe to much in promo. Only aspect of all of this individual users who can objectively send us impressions focused on what we need most from DCS players perspective. Right now Vive have better immersion and I don't take it for granted in two major reasons. we didn't see any example how really precise Vive motion tracking is in fact. All this examples are on Leapmotion examples where it looks OK but in fact for us DCS players in this moment it is useless. Controlers are useless in DCS in that way how Vive one same as new Oculus ass well which is not presented at all in this video. Only thing what this video confirming is better resolution for CV1. I'm not cheering for one or another in fact I don't own any of it and didn't try one but I'm really interested in such gadget but for DCS and similar titles only and trying to judge filtering as much facts and information as possible. I could not afford that much money for disappointment. My intention is to ask and share my opinions especially with real users of such product to get answers on it and get most as possible correct information and clarifies some of my wrong conclusions, information's or facts. Like I did it with Leapmotion which on promo was looking good but our friends who use it said it is not ready yet for our purpose. Thanks for understanding guys and keep good discussion here. :pilotfly:

According to this experience and from DCS perspective looks like Oculus is better solution. Vive plays on better immersion but it is more for Skyrim players not DCS. This laser movement tech is not precise in same way as leapmotion. For DCS we need high precision for operating with all this small buttons and switches placed next to itch other. Major pro from DCS perspective is resolution and here Oculus is leading with 1280x720 per eye against 960x540 like Vive have. What that means? you need 1440p screen resolution to play 720p because pictures is merging in one so real game resolution is resolution for one eye. Did someone try using his cellular with 2560x1440 px screen, for example LG G3 D855 model, with google cardboard style VR + trinus VR or VR stream?

I start discussion on this forum about Leapmotion. I know it is not precise, when it recognize hand it loosing fingers and similar but do we need such precision in DCS? Look like it is good for precision to locate complete hand and its movement and realy what do we need only point finger for use. I don't care about to see my hand in game how moving fingers. In my opinion mouse pointer who already exist in game is good solution need only 3 more actions for left and right buttons and scroll. This could be programmed outside of DCS using in game mouse protocols.

@Weeb good point. Actually I think we got different view on cockpit build. I am more fun of heaving everything on screen not to build everything fiscally. Fiscal cockpit is limited on just one plane virtual is fit to plane you using. You should maybe try alternative for using Leapmotion or Voice Attack for switches inside virtual cockpit. It is different concept where you are just focused to build chair and good joystick, pedals and throttle stand so your TV now have space as it need because it is part of your front panel cockpit. There is one other alternative to add second, if possible touch screen monitor for your cockpit panel. If you place it and cover part of your 4K TV just inch or two in front this could work as well. If you are in to build full size cockpit with instruments then you should go in 3 screens but not two ultra wide curved. Maybe even think about projectors too. All depend on what you want to achive and space or budget you got.
-
financially and better option will be curved 55" and above 4K TV. Point of 4K is that you can seat very close to the screen without noticing pixels like you will with such screen size in 1080p. There is already 65" curved 4K TV similar price as 2 34" curved monitors and there is one huge problem with two monitors, they owerlaping right in the middle. Lot of people switching from 3 monitors to huge 4K TV.

Not yet, Need to do some wearing and waiting to LN include again numbers on tail so you could give different numbers to multiple planes using only one skin as it was in the beginning but was turned off in some reason.
-
You right and wrong in same time. Depend. If I'm the source of skin and for some details on your picture I believe I am, in that case there is no copy right violation because is completely separate work. But as I know Matija even from NOB Mrcine and as he contact LN and his version start to be official I stop further developing and sharing this skin too in respect of work of my friend. I also work on so called "Romanian" cammo skin. real one to compare This nickname by color scheme is given by the country they have general maintenance. So this cammo was in Romania and gray was maintenance in Ukraine. That is why Pilots called this planes Romanian and Ukrainian.

I think F4 is logical step and pair for Mig 21 as well as middle east map with Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Israel. Even perfect for F14 on who LN already working.
-
Should be better especially if you are siting closer to the screen what is the point of 4K TV over 55".

A LOOK INSIDE LOGITECH G940 THROTTLE
wormeaten replied to shyjonathan1588's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This things is not producing any more unfortunately. I have one for more than 5 years now and was serving me well. Good thing about this product is Good quality plastic and easy maintains and easy replacing components. So if you are willing to play with it it could be your whole life HOTAS. Recently I start to feel this problems with throttle and it was easy fix with removing just one screw to make wire which goes to throttle handle more loose. And that's it, whole wisdom about and it is easier to fix it than to break it like in video. I still love my G940. -
Oculus Rift and FaceTrackNOir
wormeaten replied to wormeaten's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm using Opentrack+home made IR clip+PS3Eye. All this didn't cost me more than 30$ and work perfectly good. Even my friend say about improvement in facetracking so he say it is refreshing to have good headtracking without anything on your head at all. There is post here on forum where you can buy IR clip and PS3Eye with removed IR filter so pure plug and play headtracking for around 50$. And now compare it with similar package TrackIR 5 with Clip pro and cost 160$. -
Oculus Rift and FaceTrackNOir
wormeaten replied to wormeaten's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice so my guessing are correct. Thank you vicx for your first hand information. Point is there is no need for TrackIR and separate hardware even if you just using clip with freeware headtracking. This is the major issue so no need for complaining about missing zoom or similar when we have free solution for it. About TrackIR, they didn't lower the price for several years so why they will now? TrackIR is half of the price of DK2 and if you compare what they give to users DK2 is much better choice. Only thing what could prevent you to buy DK2 is actually CV1. -
Oculus Rift and FaceTrackNOir
wormeaten replied to wormeaten's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Point is TrackIR is good piece of hardware but it is overprice for old technology. FacetrackNoIR and opentrack is freeware and have support for using Oculus Rift headtracking with it. No need for additional hardware and functionality should be same way as TrackIR without need to spend one single $. Some of people who using OR mention they using TrackIR instead OR headtracking. I guess why but don't have OR to try. As I understand this should fix some problems, same reasons why this people still using TrackIR with OR DK2. I just need confirmation that this is going in that direction so we could have OR with proper zoom and no need to turn head only 1:1. -

wormeaten replied to wormeaten's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can't believe, everybody address that as a problem with Rift but no one try to fix if with simple and free solution. :( -
Did anyone using OR with FTnoIR or Opentrack? As I understand with using this freeware OR headtrack working same way as TrackIR so there is no 1:1 head movement like it is by default using OR only. Please send your experience with this. Is this true and you now moving like you did before without OR so no need to turn behind if you want to look 180? Is this effecting on zoom and with this software you can set your zoom as you want? Thanks.

Is random numbering on skin coming back? In the beginning of release it was on and you could deal to the different planes with same skin true Editor. After some announcement they working on updating 3D model it was turned off. Today is still off. When we could be expected this feature coming back? I have two skins waiting just this feature t come back.
-
Just parts for this is is cost about 1/3 of the price so only way if you don't want to go with less is to do it your self like I do. I didn't buy any of this because I made my own. But this is good quality made and price is fair for small quantity production which require some additional costs so that why price is fair.

Best option is Clipsi bundle. You got in bundle Clipsi + PS3Eye with removed IR filter and build in Light filter for 45€. It is 1/3 of TrackIR price with all functionality the same. So best option for those who like plug and play solutions.
