Pay 114% more for just 20% gain?! Do I have to comment this at all?

As I was planed to take Quest 2 as the secondary VR headset. G2 is still my No1 option for PC VR games especially sims. With quest I'm interested for casual WiFi usage when will be ready and some casual VR gameplay like Half Life Alyx or similar titles, even Onward goes in that category. In DCS or other sims G2 still got advantages but Quest is still good budget entry level even better now than some more expensive competitors.

You already have transparent Pilot body. Only it is 100% transparent when it is on.
-
There is no issue. 5700 XT working with G1 at least it is reported by multiple ovners who using this combo. Maybe some problems with Drivers in the past but Drivers are now fixed.
-
Maybe AMD got something to say with Radeon Image Sharpening. Its in essence AMD's DLSS and it is opensource so could be used without licenses. That si the major problem with Ngreedia they want to monetize everything.

I'm planing to make upgrade and best buy option is so far Ryzen on B450 MBO not B550. This days you can find Aorus B450 PRO or ROG Strix B450 F for 100$. Mid range boards with good VRM and USB C onboard. G2 is gen1 USB C. B550 is Gen 4 PCI but only benefit right now from Gen4 is Gen4 SSD which don't make diference in gaming compared to Gen3 SSD. So it is overkill and waste of money. Diference in price could make you 3700x with 3080 same as will cost 3600 with 3070 based on B550 MBO and Gen4 SSD. I think this is even good budget option even after Ryzen 4000 release. This will additionaly lower the price to 3000 gen but in 4K gaming advantage will not be higher than 2% what is practically nothing. Everything is in GPU in VR.
-
This is specifically connected to VR usage. VR usage is similar as 4K benchmarks. If you check all CPU bottleneck is measured in 1080p and if you compare budget and high end CPU in 4K got almost identical results on same GPU. So for same amount of mony it is always better to buy Ryzen 5 3600/RTX 3080 than I9 10900K/RTX 3060.

Need your advise : To Pre-order or Not HP REVERB G2
wormeaten replied to Goa's topic in Virtual Reality
Right now I'm out of action. Upgrading my rig for G2 and wait for it as well. Once when will be delivered I will test it with G2 and made video with instructions how to do that and explain it all even why. Point is it is individual issue and everybody could have different setup according to personal preferences. Somewhere in November or December depend when G2 or GPU knock on my door. -

Just to get more realistic body movement to the real world. In RL to watch your 6 you will turn your body approximate 110° but in VR game you have to turn your body for full 180° because lover FOV and smaller sweet spot. Using Opentrack my body movement is more like in RL and I have better control over airplane controls. -
No, in DCS everything usually coming in two weeks.

Sorry Guys I mix PD with native resolution. My correction.

Yes I am talking about VR as well. Combining VR with Opentrack. It is helpfull tool for VR as well. -
Also PD is not that important. Most important is PPD, Pixel Per Degree. In PPD G2 is without the competition and clarity overwhelm all this FOV advantage Pimax or Index have over G2 in complete picture. VR is combination of multiple stuff and best one is those who made best combination which effecting on general VR impression and G2 is for using in simulations have best combination.
-
Best buy option is Reverb G2. Best clarity of all VR and one of the lowest priced, 600$. Have in mind that 3070 will be card around 5% lower performance than 2080Ti but for affordable 600$ too. If you wait AMD as well maybe situation could be even better. Who knows? For some preview just check what performances got people who using Reverb 2080Ti combo right now to get picture what you can expect and for what price with such combination G2 and 3070.

About neck I tried using tracking true opentrack and its working. No motion sicknes even I'm avarage sensitive to it. My point is with opentrack I setup Yaw turning similar as trackIR. 45° to 50° I setup movement 1:1 ratio but from 50° to 110° head move in game is from 50° to 180°. At first you have get use to it in similar way you first time using trackIR but it is short adaptation and your neck will thank you for it. If you try this have in mind if it is not smooth for you you have to play with filter setup to reach smoothness you want. Need to be tweaked but it is doable. -

I will just add on all of this manual IPD adjustment too as additionally effecting on increase of sweet spoot and more comfortable visuals. Here is one old video of G1 to get picture how far from monitor it is but it is not comparable with monitor from basic reason in VR you are inside in real 3D environment and if this is not impressing you than you should stay with monitor in general. Maybe think about to upgrade to some 55" 4K TV capable to work like monitor like for example Samsung QLED QR60 lowest imput lag and Freesync support. But that is the question on what you should ask your self what is your personal preferences. VR is highly personalized stuff. -

I pre ordered my G2 so I'm in conflict of interest to give you advice about it. BTW your rig is already ready for G2 and on your monitor will not benefit much from new 3080 or 3090. VR is proper step forward and G2 is closest to the monitor than any other VR HMD on the market. Clarity is twice as better than RiftS and almost no SDE. -
"Shipment Pre-order now, Expected Delivery till end of October" That is the part of the message I got in order confirmation on what I referring. Exact date for free market release is also depending on number of pre-sales. First you have to take care all this pre ordered units before it reach store shelves. That is only reason why this September 15th is just frame not exact date and how this pre sale goes probably will be after.

https://www.roadtovr.com/hp-reverb-g2-announcement-pre-order-price-release-date/ "Though an official HP retailer was spotted clearly advertising a September 15th release date for the headset, HP affirms that it hasn’t announced a date any more specific than ‘Fall 2020’."
-
I pre order main 08. 21. so I have to wait all those orders made before to fulfill first.
-
With G2 is happy ending anyway. End of the October will come.
-
I ordered at Gearbest at Friday and got message expecting delivery end of October.

Yes you right it is just countdown on NVIDIA official web. They probably counting days until AMD release new RDNA2 NVIDIA Killer GPU and 3000 gen GPU are just unconfirmed rumor. Sorry my mistake.
-
Is it official web with countdown good for you to believe its coming? https://www.nvidia.com/en-eu/geforce/special-event/
-
Who care month or two more or less but finally is here sooner or later. NVIDIA set counter on its official Tweeter page that must be something to confirm such rumors.
