  1. Understandable and reasonable choice and Reverb will work pretty good on that card for that next 18 months. But I have to tell you to think about it one more time. Maybe you should waith January and release of RX 5800, significantly lower price in pair with performance to 2080Super. 2080Super is 700$ but will lose in that 18 months around 250$ in value for sure. On other hands 5700XT is 400$ but will lose in that 18 months around 100$ in value with just maybe 15% lover performances. I'm not sure is it worth it that money but if you got it for some black Friday discount calculate it in this equation. You know the best your situation and need's. I'm just giving you more data to make best decision for you. Good Luck
  2. In the past same sources was right about Vega VII and RX 5700 and about Ryzen 3000.
  3. If you didn't buy it so far wait for CES 2020 in January. Teleblaster, my point is your CPU will serve you for VR at least 2 years so there is no need for upgrade CPU right now. Just right in time to see DCS on Vulcan, ZEN4 and Intels first 7nm answer on it. As DCS 2.5 is single core based engine your i7 7700 no need to be changed till then to get proper benefit from changing CPU. Right gain will be minor and not worth investment. For GPU is not right time as well. Nvidia still don't have competition so prices are sky high and current best GPU 2080ti is on its end of cycles. Again in next 6 months to a year situation could drastically change in term of performances and prices. Only with VR situation is more clear. For DCS best buy options are HP Reverb and Rift-S. they need almost the same amount of resources and DCS work good on GPU in range of 1080ti. Higher is better no doubt but this is satisfactorily as well. But if you buying GPU now don't go belove this 3 card of same performances range but diferent prices. RX 5700 XT - 400$ new RTX 2070 Super - 500$ new GTX 1080ti around 500$ used This will serve you next 6 month to year until new generations arrive to market and will be easy to sale without significant lost in value. 2080Super and 2080TiSuper are the best in this moment but with possible lost in value in short period, yes you read right 2080TiSuper is coming out in January as an unswer to AMD 5800 XT which is coming out in January as well. The GPU war is already started. In your situation I will do this upgrade gradually in 3 steps next two years. Now buy your self Reverb and this transition GPU which you are planing to sell before you even buy it so best option is 5700 XT or wait this 5800XT in January. In a year get new nextgen GPU who will be much better then it is now 2080ti for less or in worst case same money. and last, in two years upgrade your CPU who will be significantly better than yours i7 7700 than it is case now.
  4. You didn't have nothing to lose. Unfortunately you tried and didn't work but you know you do your best.
  5. All is based on rumors but from reliable sources who was leaked information's in past and was shown in the end pretty accurate. Latest news say RX 5800 (NAVI 12) card's release delayed for January. RX 5900 is not sure is it NAVI 12 based card and will be released same time as 5800 or is NAVI 20 based card so will be released latter next year. Any way some official information will be released in December for sure. About Nvidia, they releasing new 30XX generation based on 7nm. It is anounced will be in Q2 what will be year and half after RTX 20XX. There is a GPU war in 2020 obviously. Nvidia 30XX generation is expecting to have segnificant bust in performances as well as lower lunching prices than 20XX. As you say RX 5700 XT is dissent solution for that transition period but maybe will be good to wait till January and this RX 5800 XT release. Expecting performances will be around 2080Super in price range 550 to 600$.
  6. I'm just read reports and checking benchmarks and calculating performances per $. I could send you here that much references you will spend the days not hours to watch it all but this one video will describe in the best way what I'm talking about.
  7. CPU's best price and performance ratio is Ryzen5 3600 6/12 for 200$. The best in-game performance for DCS is i7 9700K 8/8 for 365$. i9 9900 is the best gaming performance 8/16 for 485$. it is the best in-game performances but it is overpriced and overrated in any aspect. Have in mind if you want to use intel potential for overclocking you need to spend at least 100$ more for proper cooling in way of some 150$ AiO. The difference in price is better to invest in better GPU what will give you much more bust than any other expensive CPU could doo. For future and DCS transition to Vulcan engine what will happen in next year or two Rayzen7 3700x 8/16 for 330$ will be best and most reasonable purchase what will serve you well another 6 years like your current configuration. About GPU wait a little bit. Between November and January RX 5800 and RX 5900 cards coming out and this will change the GPU market for better no matter what graphics card you chose in the end. Don't buy GPU before that. RX 5700 XT is 400$ and it is just average 4% slower than 500$ (25% more $) 2070Super but there are some reports, not confirmed, HP Reverb not working good with it. Possible driver issue and will be probably fixed soon. Right now most reasonable purchase is 2070Super for 500$ and 2080Super for 700$. Best GPU at the moment and still is 2080ti but it is way more expensive, 1100+$ and it is just 15 to 20% faster than 700$ 2080Super and this will change in the next two months at least in price if nothing else so it is the not right moment to buy 2080ti. Right now there is no existing GPU who can run 90FPS and maxed out graphics in DCS on HP Reverb or Rift-S but this will be changed with Vulcan in future. Vulcan will give advanced multicore support for CPU and GPU multithreading support what will allow CF/SLI. Imagine 2x RX 5700 XT for 800$ will have 30% better performance than single 1100$ RTX 2080ti. Vulcan will be a real game-changer.
  8. Zafgev, you should think about HP Reverb. Hardware consumption is the same as Vive or Rift-S because of higher native resolution 2160x2160 there is no need for PD. So you got a level of detail the same as on Vive or Rift-S but with better clarity. Here is the video with comparison Reverb, Vive and monitor. Picture tales more than a thousand words. Link starting from DCS world part:
  9. Could some of you publish some new video about it?
  10. I see some reports on how Reverb is not working on AMD GPU. It is not confirmed yet but needs to be taken into consideration. If there is a problem with drivers will be fixed but looks like a possible problem right now. Also, a very important thing is releasing new graphic cards this year based on Navi 12 which will be in the performance range of 2080Super and 2080ti. This already affecting on GPU market and will be even more after releasing. Nvidia will definitely significantly lowering the price to 2080ti and already announcing next-gen card based on 7nm technology what implicating a significant gain of performances. We are talking about a period of 6 to 8 months. Right now the only gain is 2080Super and 2080ti. Gain is not that big as an investment in it especially when in 6 to 8 months you will have on disposal 3080ti minimum 20% more powerful GPU than 2080ti and for same or fewer monies you will pay for 2080ti now.
  11. TrackIR? NOOOO!!! Some Fretrack solution? Hell YES! Head tracking is a gamechanger, especially in flight sims. But TrackIR is highly overpriced. It is more expensive than Lenovo Explorer WMR HMD. Solution based on Freetrack, which is BTW build in DCS and work perfectly, is based on freeware and you can build one for just 10% of the TrackIR price. If I have to pay 150$ for something like that than WMR is definitely a better choice.
  12. Anyway this is problem for HP Reverb not AMD. I never see Nvidia only from HP Reverb but problems is obviously with Reverb Radeon compatibility.
  13. Actually YES even without cables using WiFi. There are several solutions made by the third party and this is one of them. To be clear Quest link will be in the end best option once arrived on market for 80$ but this is available now and it is a solid alternative.
  14. Talking about edge blurriness in general. Not comparing lenses or size of the sweet spot. Point is part of that blurred edge is in enhanced clarity. Lets put it in numbers for better understanding. Imagine that is possible to measure clarity ( what is not ) so we got the same lens with the degradation of clarity to the edges by 25%. HMD1 have clarity 20 in the center. On edges, degradation is 25%=5 of what is 20-5=15. With HMD2 we have the double number of pixels so clarity is 40, degradation is 10 what is 40-10=30. Conclusion even on the edges HMD2 is still twice as better but this degradation is also twice as bigger so it is more noticeable even when overall quality is better than on HMD1.
  15. Technical description of the problem is that cameras don't have referent point inside FOV to calculate movement. Rift-S have 5 cameras so tracking is better just because having higher FOV for tracking so have more field for more reference points. The solution is simple any picture frame, poster or even wall shelves is helping. More reference points inside tracking FOV better. Other simple solution you could print few Aruco prints and place it around the wall, ceiling temporarily when you using your Rift and then remove it if you want a clean wall.
  16. Even Pimax 8KX will never have a clear picture as Reverb because one major issue Pimax got. Bad design and lenses make Pimax utilizing only 70% of the display what is affecting on lowering PPD. Prove for that is fact that 5K+ is not any clearer than Rift-S or Index and Vive Pro or SO just slightly lover clarity because of lack of full RGB support. Also, XTAL has better lenses which allow almost 95% utilization of the display what is the reason of XTAL superior clarity over Pimax5K+. Also, the tradeoff is lower vertical FOV. Reverb also utilizing almost 100% of the display what is noticeable when you are able to see display edges under certain angles. But this provides the best PPD for those two HMD's.
  17. Better panels and peripheral blurriness will be more noticeable more because of better clarity in the center than because of imperfections in the lenses. Even normal eye when you look with your eye on the side is not that perfectly clear as it is when you look in the center. Anyway, normal peripheral vision is just to take your attention on some movement and then your reflex is to move your head in that direction to focus on that. Foveated rendering will not fix that. Its purpose is to save hardware resources by reducing rendering quality what is making a picture more blurrier on that location. Lenses are fixed position and if there is any degradation in clarity on edges it will always be the same no matter on eye-tracking and foveated rendering. In the future mayor, game changer could be varifocal rendering which will simulate natural focusing on near and far objects what will further increase clarity but still mostly in the center. Right now all VR rendering full picture eaqully.
  18. Exactly as Harlikwin says. Everything, including the CV1 too. Your rig is already 5 years old any better GPU you will have a bottleneck on CPU. It is all connected and pointless upgrade just one or two things. Bestbuy option will be R5 3600, MSI B450 Tomahawk MBO, 32 Gb 3600 Mhz RAM, RTX 2080S, HP Reverb. The cheapest combination for enormous gain in performance and VR impression compared to your current rig. Just need to close financial construction or rob a bank. The post office is not good enough.
  19. Sorry, I forgot it is coming to DCS in two weeks. My bad.
  20. Eye-tracking module for Vive is third part module so could be for any other HMD with minor modification like diopter lens for example. But what is the point of eye-tracking hardware without software support?
  21. This should fix your problems. JSGME https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607
  22. It is an old product and what's the point without support for it.
  23. Till then you will be made 3 more. You never gonna try XTAL. :music_whistling:
  24. :pilotfly:
  25. For comparison, you just need to take pictures under the same conditions even with the mobile phone.
