Steve Burke from Gamers Nexus more then reliable source. This dates is 99% accurate. Example cards are already shipped on multiple addresses for testing but due to NDA they cant talk about it more in details before announcing days. Is this for publishing first benchmark 9th or after release 17th I don't know right now but will be published soon. Anyway this is just behind corner.

Unfortunately Boris is waiting behind the corrner to charge you additional £200 do tho "Brexit" task. :music_whistling: Kidding. Unfortunately If you do some significant GPU upgrade you will need new CPU/MBO as well. 2060S will not work well with G2. You will need to downgrade graphic details or go in some negative SS to run this on G2 with 2060S. Recommend minimum by HP is 2070S. With RX 5700XT for same money you will be better because it is in range of 2070S with performances but 2060S with price. But now you have what you have and can't change it. This will be bust in quality of your VR but not in full potential of G2. Use it what you have till next year when you will have new Nvidia 30XX or AMD 6X00 as next gen GPU and new AMD ryzen 4th gen. Then do full rig upgread depend on your budget. Even 3rd gen Ryzen will lower the price and it is good CPU. Ryzen 5 3600 with some good B450 MBO will be great upgrade for about £200 or less and will not bottleneck new GPU. Maybe i5 10600K lower the price as well to be competitive. It is better gaming CPU but more expensive, if you buy Ryzen 5 3600 it is now £100 less and if you invest this £100 in to better GPU you will got more performances in general not just comparing CPU's. I'm not favoryzing AMD or Intel CPU just comparing to get most for less. Just speculating if you are on the budget, if not anyway wait Q1 next year for the better new hardware or better price for current. If you cant stand, do just minor transition upgrade in way of used 2080Super but not before October when price of the used cards will start to drop significantly. This is max for your current CPU to have sense to upgrade, everything higher will have bottleneck and will be waste of resources. Such minimum "transition" upgrade could hold you to the middle of the year and give you opportunity to save some founds for proper full upgrade.

Corection! 9th September will be public announcement and release day is 17th for 3080 and 3080Ti. 3070 coming out in October and it is not just a rumor. 3090 is just speculation and will be eventually released if AMD 6900 XTX will be better card to keep Nvidia on the throne. This will be more like "3080Ti Super" than something significantly better. According to rumors and available information's so far, look's like AMD will be competitive but not Nvidia killer as they like to call RDNA2. In my opinion AMD already screwed opportunity by delaying of releasing RDNA2 two months after Ampera. Also Nvidia stop playing "chess" with AMD and releasing Ampere without further delay showing also how confident they are in the new GPU line. In this situation with 2 month's delay AMD only could be competitive with price but the most people will buy new GPU in that two month's period no matter how good AMD will be.

September 17th is Nvidia release day for 3070. 3080 and 3080Ti/3090. AMD 6900 XT Releasing in November.

In game IPD is more correcting your proper FOV inside cockpit to be more realistic. IPD 49 can't be proper one because should be between 60 and 70 depend on exact your personal IPD. Put it for test somewhere in between like 65 for example or match it with value you got when you calibrating your HMD. So first do that to get realistic FOV and sence of cockpit size. Then calibrate physical position of your HOTAS.

RTX2070 Super v GTX1080ti - DCS and memory
wormeaten replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
Better option for around same amount of money is R5 3600 + MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX MB + 2080Super. This will be much better especially for VR usage where i5 9600 losing any advantage. -
8KX - full features, tracking controllers and audio = 1800$ HP Reverb G2 = 600? Is there any doubt what to chose? BTW just in time when G2 will be out 3080ti is arriving as well and Reverb G2 + 3080ti will cost same as 8KX without GPU.
-
Rift S or Index? The answer is clear as day, get Reverb G2. Preorder now, delivery in Fall.
-
Problem is with 2080ti must have capable CPU as well to use GPU full potential. If your CPU is not capable to serv GPU your 2080ti could run way below 100% of usage. this could waist lot of GPU performance. That is probably problem if you don't see the difference between 1070 and 2080ti.

RX 5700 is 320$ GPU and you can flash it with 5700XT Bios. It is not full performance as XT but it is more than 12% gain in DCS for free and it is eaqual to 2070 performance. Prowe is in video.

This is rig around 500$ and I think it is best buy option in that price range. But if you can wait to the end of the year and you will got Intel 10th gen for better price than now 9th gen or Ryzen 4000 based chip and RTX 3000 or AMD RDNA 2 based GPU. All of this is releasing in Q3/Q4 this year and it is competition on all grounds we consumers waiting for a years. It is finally comming.

I will just say this. Reverb and 2080Ti together will cost the same as just Pimax 8KX. So you calculate for your own which is better deal for you.

1080Ti, 2070Super and 5700XT is cards with very similar performances. 1080Ti used and 2070Super as new are around £450. 5700XT is around £370. New 3070 will be in performance similar to 2080Super in similar way as it is 2070Super to 1080Ti. As well so called Big Navi is anounced this summer too with performances better than 2080Super too. All this will affect on prices as well no matter which card in the end you buy, Nvidia or AMD. Anyway interesting summer. This 3070 expected to be in your £450 range just for comparison. My advice is, buy 5700XT as a transition card till Christmas when all Nvidia or AMD models will be available and in stable release. Difference to £450 save as part of savings to buy something better on Christmas and sell this 5700xt. One of the reasons why 5700XT now is price and less you will lost latter when you are selling it. Other reason is to see is it AMD capable to compite with Nvidia on your personal level. What you are preferring more and is this higher price but not in performances for Nvidia is worth. Be open minded and don't be a slave to any brend just reword best value to your needs.

I got useful hack for Captoglove with Zippo fuel. Burn it down and you will fill much better. That is only useful from Captoglove.

We are talking about 1800$ head set. For that money they have to give you additional lap dance not just proper customer support.

First of all overcloack your CPU and maybe GPU. For best performances in OC you will need some good AiO cooler minimum 240. other options are 280 and 360 but I think for just CPU best buy will be some 240 like H100 for example. Only this could give you 10 to 15% with minimum of investment. Other option is upgread your MB and CPU to i7 9700k or i9 9900k but this will give you not more then 20% even with i9 9900k. So this is actually investment of around 500$ + or - 100$ depend on CPU and MBO and for just realistically 5% gain of performances. Not worth it to change it jet. Your CPU is good for next year or too just to wait Intel 10nm gen or Ryzen 4000 or even 5000 gen whot will make real difference. GPU is roof for now so in next 6 months you cant buy better even if you want. New gen GPU coming up in 2020 AMD and Nvidia with real gain in performances and even Intel is coming up with first Intel GPU. Practically OC is only thing you need right now. With good cooling solution you can OC your 6700k to 4.7GHz without problem even higher. For that your maximum investment is 100 to 150$ for some 240 to 360 AiO water block cooling solution and you can use it again in future in your new rig. So it is worth it.

HP Reverb: 1080Ti or 2080? (Or even AMD?)
wormeaten replied to bumblebomb's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes, after I check it out on Rededit and there is some individual problems but could not be related in general to AMD or Reverb compatibility. -
Quest should be compared with Vive PRO and Oddisay during to similar specifications.
-
Now when we talk about this, did someone with PRO version try some extension cable with short "backpack" cable? Point is short one should have stable and good signal so if extension is good quality should work.

HP Reverb Or Rift S with 1080Ti, 4770k, 16GB RAM
wormeaten replied to Cavemanhead's topic in Virtual Reality
I will not going into the debate Rift-S vs Reverb performances I will go more on the practical side. Point is end result on your current rig is similar but the question is how long you will use this 1080Ti card? It is outdated GPU, it is still good but for sure you will change it in next year or two and in that moment you will regret why you didn't take more capable VR and that is Reverb. Right now your GPU is bottleneck but with upgrade of your rig in the future bottleneck could be your Rift-S and than question will be what did you achive with this upgread? You have to think in advance. -
I'm not talking about backers but this backer prices should be realistic one maybe just little bit more. Today regular price for naked 8K is 900$ and announced regular price for 8KX is 1400$ naked HMD only. So basically you got your in half of the price. Backers do the great job, no doubt but after that Pimax start to be so called greedy milking company.
-
Basically we got relevant information's to gues what we can expect. 8K+ is same performances as 8K or 5K+ with 5k+ clarity and reduced SDE and this minor upgrade you have to pay 100$ more than already overpriced 8K. 8KX will be full RGB same as Reverb PD similar as Reverb but little bit lower do to lower utilization of the displays. Pimax lenses not fully covering display. As in Reverb example better clarity and PPD reducing a need for PD/SS and 8KX will run on native resolution so do not expecting significant increase for hardware consumption. Major problem for Pimax is his major advantage. FOV. Higher FOV higher resolution to render. That is reason why you need minimum 2080Ti for dissent level of details in game. With new 3080Ti and possible 30% gain in performances over 2080Ti I guess 8KX will run same good as today 5K+ but with significance gain in clarity similar to Reverb today. Again possible problem will be price. Naked 8KX HMD will cost minimum 1400$ to reach level of Reverb with controllers, proper tracking and audio will cost around 2000$. Question is do this 40%more in FOV worth this additional 1400$ additional cost? This could be even higher when we add difference in price of needed GPU when we compare needed GPU to reach same level of details in game. Today to reach same level of clarity and details Reverb reach with 2070Super and 5/8K reach with 2080Ti. So this is additional 500$. Is this increase of FOV worth triple the cost? No doubth Pimax 8KX will be the best VR experience but definitely not the budget friendly and not working in popularization of VR in general.
-
You miss completely most important part. I never say Pimax is bad just saying it is not worth it for what they provide. Here we talking about compromise between performances and budget And one more thing, 5K don't have 4K display so if I buy Pimax only two models coming in to consideration in first place 8KX and 8K+ no matter on price.
-
About Vulcan I will take this in consideration as well. Vulcan will be step forward but will not happened in next year or two minimum. In that time we will get next generations of GPU. In two years we will have first GPU based on chiplets. AMD already using this technology in CPU and Intel and Nvidia announce it in near future with their GPU, That means multiple GPU in one card work as single without need for SLI/CF. So I gues DCS Vulcan will be not just increasing FPS will be increasing on details in graphics possible even raytracing or something else in similar way like was transition from DX9 to DX11 in DCS 2.5. That is how I see major benefit from Vulcan in first place with larger and more detailed maps and better light effects in similar way it was transition from 1.5 to 2.5.

If we talking about the budget here how overpriced Pimax 5K can fit in this? Pimax 5K is 700$ just naked HMD without tracking, controllers and audio. When you add cost for that Pimax 5K is over 1100$ with superior FOV but inferior clarity and performances. To reach similar performances to Reverb or even Rift-S Pimax 5K can't do without 2080ti. So Pimax eliminate him self from this. Only Pimax 8KX can be compared with Reverb in clarity but only if we don't question about price at all with unlimited fond.
