  1. Interesting video with Reverbs first impression from CV1 user.
  2. Yes, m8. In the end it is your decision I was just trying to give you all the information from all angles relevant to make your decision. In the end, you know the best what is suite for you. I wish you the best and good luck.
  3. You should set up proper FOV in some *.lua file in a similar way as it is in racing sims. Proper FOV is making it closer to VR experience depend on screen size and distance. Use some FOV calculator according to your TV size and distance from your eye. One of the calculator. Other you got a link in the video description. DCS use hFOV for entering values.
  4. You all missing the point. Right now we are really on the wrong. Even Nvidia is announcing a new generation of the cards. Revenue dropping same as RTX sell not going well. One of the main reason is GTX 10X0 cards are still a competitive and good choice. Just a month ago this 10FPS gain cost just one month ago 850$. Now is 700$ and before Christmas could be 500$. That is my point. BTW for your information, AMD got new architecture already in the form of RDNA. That architecture already showing some promising results and even 5700XT for the same price have 20% better results than 2060Super as direct Nvidia competitor. This GPU is the only reason why Nvidia reduce the price of the 2080ti for 200$. Like it or not but this is a fact and 5800XT is coming so tell me is this not competition finally? He got 1080ti and I told him 10FPS gain you can get with 2080ti now will cost him 700$. I give him all information and hi is an intelligent man to calculate by himself what he will doo. I'm not be drawn in that AMD Nvidia worship war. I never say don't buy Nvidia buy AMD. Just saying right now when we starting to have some competition finally on the GPU market after 5 years and next year will be even better especially when Intell enter on GPU market as well. All of this is pushing Nvidia forward as well. He is got a good graphics card which could serv him good in that next year when he could see the final and best option for him. RX 5700XT is living proof. Graphics card with 40 CU now is coming 5600, lower priced GPU based on 24 CU and in Q4 is coming 5800 on 56 CU. That is 40% more CU so it is easy to calculate will be in the range between 2080 and 2080S similar like 5700 is in relation with 2070 and 2070S in performances. In Q1 2020. 5900 coming out based on 64 CU and this should be finally competitor with 2080ti. Those are the facts based on already known and existing technology. Again I'm not saying to buy AMD but this will reduce the price of Nvidia products even further in this next few months.
  5. Yes and my point when I mention AMD is exactly is it worth it? With switching from 1080ti to 2080ti he will gain some 10fps but with current prices, after he sells his 1080ti and recovers som from the initial price of 2080ti this 10FPS gain will cost 700$. But someone will think it is worth it some not but situation on the market is right now like this. Soon the price of 2080ti could drop significantly even before the end of the year and be even 200$ cheaper than it is now. 2080ti is already an old model and value is still dropping. 1080ti is already reached bottom price and will not drop much because it is still one of the best performances cards we got right now. Only 2080S and 2080ti have better performance. In the past was good to upgrade but right now it is not the right time for it.
  6. That is exactly how they talk about CPU in Intel even a few months ago and look today what is happened. 5700XT is a reality and kicking 2060Super ass in any aspect from price to performance. Competition is coming in the next 6 months like it or not. Even if you will buy Nvidia card will be smart to wait because prices of Nvidia is dropping as well as response to Navi. Especially if he already owns 1080ti he can wait for something much better or cheaper 2080ti. And Elizabeth Hurley was the best but just like GTX 480, long time ago.
  7. These days I'm more watching this thread than watching porn. :music_whistling: I'm on Reverb track definitely. It is still the best option no matter what. Thanks all of you guys who share your experience with Reverb, positive or negative doesn't matter they are all creating a general picture about Reverb.
  8. Oh m8, you are completely wrong about that. It is already starting to happen. RX 5700XT is 2060Super AMD equivalent in price but have performances of 2070Super. So Got much better performances for the same price range. Later this year coming out RX 5800XT which will be in price in the level of 2070Super but more near 2080Super in performance. Also, Q1 possible RX 5900XT finally AMD's 2080ti competitor in performance with significantly lower price. They also working on next-gen GPU which is nicknamed in the house as Nvidia killer. AMD never do that before so that means at least they finally got a horse to race. Also, Nvidia will need to answer on that with some price correction and even new GPU generation as well. Also, new RDAN architecture could have more benefit to VR straight from the box in way of RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening), Scaling and 30% lower latency than Nvidia RTX. It is sort of SS/PD but on the hardware level with reduced impact on hardware performance and lower latency will increase smoothness. All of this works straight without the need to be implemented in the game like DLRS on RTX with much better performances. You need just to turn it on and set up in Radeon software and it is working in any game. So your 1080ti is still decent GPU for VR but proper replacement still didn't come out yet. You should wait with a new GPU at least the next 6 months. The real deal just didn't release yet but they are behind the corner waiting to run out.
  9. From all of this post from the beginning got to the conclusion there is nothing wrong from Reverb side about this flickering and blackout what happened. It is a clientside issue, not Reverb. The only problem is the insufficient power supply to the HMD unit required. Someone send a picture of the specs and you can see it is specifically said 900mA. So most of the people, if it is not all, who had such problems connect multiple USB devices on one controller. Even better MBO controllers have max 1000mA so even mouse on the same controller could cause the problem. It is obvious Reverb needs dedicated USB controller for insufficient power supply true USB. If your MBO could not provide it additional PCI-e USB3 card will fix this problem but only if you use it for Reverb only. Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.1 PCI Express Card is a good choice especially because got stable Power Supply equipped with power management chip, plus 15-Pin SATA power cable, the card can supply power with an output of USB-A port being 5V/2.4A, and USB-C 5V/3A. There are some other cards with even up to 5 USB connectors but people do mistake. Such card has only one controller so they switch all USB devices from MBO to that card and practically replicated the same problem but on different controller drain all power again from the just one source. It is a different source but client recreating the same problem. Connectors are the problem and it was in a similar way even on HP WMR gen1. But I believe this clip or even some DIY with zip ties will fix it as well if the client provides sufficient required power. Everything else was fixed by WMR software updates. Even Rift-S was having similar problems in the beginning and they didn't return the units. It is fixed true software update but such power problems even existed in CV1 days and were fixed in the same way with an additional USB card. Somehow I doubt it will be Reverb gen 2 or whatever you will call it. I think this is it. They will add the clip maybe in best case change the cables but no major miracle change. Secoda, think twice before you decide to return your Reverb which working perfectly now? Do you really want to do that, is it worth it? That is my conclusion from all this debate last two months. If I'm wrong someone should be able to say "yes I fulfill all the requirements you mention and still got the same problems". Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't own Reverb but reading every single post here from no1 and waiting first opportunity to be able to order one in my country no matter what unit it is.
  10. For me is glasses for looking on distance. Same say on the instruction for that VR optics. As you don't need glasses for distance and you say for your Index best experiences with that midrange lenses than you just have sent them exact specs for that glasses your optician prescribe to you. This will replicate exact experience you got with your Index and your glasses only it will be with that additional lenses. Maybe before you should test it a little bit more before, just to be sure.
  11.
  12. This Controller suck is little too hard statement. WMR controllers is working fine. It is not best controllers but working in all games. It is like when you comparing Logitech X56 with Worthog or T-50. Those two are much better but X56 is dissent and working fine as well. You can fly with it. So that Controller suck takes with grain of salt.
  13. Rift-S have a lower native resolution so it needs additional PD to make more clear picture. The best issue with Reverb is the best native resolution which enhanced clarity to the max without need for SS/PD. This major difference resulting in the same hardware consumption. If you are able to run it on Rift-S should be able to run it on Reverb on same level of details except for PD.
  14. For me, there are only two real choices. No1 is Reverb. it is 600$ but give most for the money. Worth any cent. It is only HMD which was compared with monitor pictures experience. Only Reverb. That speaks everything about it. Rift-S is the second choice. It is really balanced on all aspects which create VR experience and all of this for just 400$. VR impression is in range and comparable with much more expensive models like Index or Vive PRO. If your main occupation in VR is not Sims but casual VR gameplay or you are on budget Rift-S is maybe even first choice for you. Samsung O+ is also still a good choice but ... The way how they deal with SDE is adding additional blurriness to picture and OLED display how superior is in color presentation but have 1/3 fewer subpixels what is creating inferior clarity by that 1/3 and clarity is important in DCS to be more competitive in MP and PvP gameplay. And one more I think will be discontinued soon as rest of the gen1 WMR, I guess. Of course, I'm referring on DCS usage generally not Beat Sabre and on all of this HMD, you can play Beat Sabre as well.
  15. Yes in did! In a two weeks. :music_whistling:
  16. Will be good in the future to create a backup setup file before the upgrade. At least for comparison in Notepad ++.
  17. That is exactly what I meant could get a completely wrong impression about VR and get desapointed. GTX 1060 or RX570 is the similar performances but for jus low level of details experience which could disappoint you in VR. I'm not saying it is not possible but in this case, is better to continue to save this additional 300$ before upgread. Rudel, I'm respecting your opinion and experience but I will personally do as I say.
  18. Don't if you planing for VR! This is just for 40-60 FPS on 1920x1080 monitor medium to high details. VR, forget about it. VR is tricky stuff and depends on individual experience. Same set up with two people could have the total opposite experience. About that Ryzen 5 1600 and 3200MHz RAM, also everything above 2733MHz on Ryzen second gen is pointless, no real benefit from higher speed so this first gen 1600 is in the best case the same. RX 570 is not bad but it is low range GPU under 200$. For your best option is to skip this rig and continuing to save some more money. Try to get minimum to MSI Tomahawk B450 and Ryzen5 3600, 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL 14 or minimum CL 16 RAM, some Nvme SSD and minimum RX5700XT. This is minimum for VR and it is just around 300$ more than that outdated first gen Ryzen 1600 but it is twice performances. This will not bottleneck your possible upgrade, even 2080Ti is working fine on this MB and CPU. You will be ready for the future with this rig only possible expansion to 32GB RAM with additional 2x8 3200MHz and upgraded GPU. With such rig, you are ready for a minimum next 5 years with minor upgrades. This what you are building is not real upgrade and in the year you will be in the same situation as you are now. Think about it before you buy this.
  19. AS I understand the need for such card, the point is to disburden power usage from MB. If you connect all of your power consumers on just one power source you are losing the point to have such card anyway. Try to connect your HOTAS and everything rest to MB USB and on that USB card only HMD or even oposite. Make this USB card dedicated Power supply for your HMD and let rest of device drain power true MB. I'm just guessing but it is logical and didn't notice anyone mention this in that way. Worth to check it out, it is simple chack.
  20. Check around on the internet. There was Lenovo Explorer without controllers for 100$ new. Maybe you can find some also with controllers was 200$. That is best gen1 WMR if we not counting SO. 1440x1440. Second best choice is SO+ for 300$ still good option. Other options are 400$ Rift-S and higher all this if we talk only about new HMD other choice is to buy some used one. About GPU your minimum and cheapest option is RX 5700XT. it is 400$ GPU with performance in pair with 500$ RTX 2070S with possible potential benefit with new RDNA architecture using RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) and Scaling to increase performance to Nvidia competitor. Don't get me wrong Nvidia 2080ti is the best choice but most expensive. We are now talking about best buy and cheapest options to get decent and satisfying results in VR.
  21. Amen! :pilotfly:
  22. You didn't read my posts carefully obviously. It is just as opposite. I believe in Reverb and encouraging people to do their best to test it properly and invest some time to tweak it out. If someone has problem with Reverb and are willing to find a solution should read this thread from page 1 and then will see that I'm constructive suggest some solutions diagnostic source of the possible problems from the beginning. All of these problems are in the end logical and solvable with little additional effort. But with this attitude where we just trying to put all the blame to "stupid HP Reverb". Look at Secoda and some other who manage to deal with most of the problems and they are satisfied with Reverb and all these guys should be a role model and prove how it is possible to get such results they claim they have and was logic according to Reverbs specs. And please next time before accusing me of something that is not standing and insulting me directly read carefully what I'm saying and think about it twice before jumping out. In the end, I didn't say anything about Pep or all those who are trying to solve the problem and you, I think all the time and still does how you are a positive and constructive guy in all of this.
  23. I was just sarcastic and most to those who do exactly what I was describing. How else to comment people who didn't invest proper effort to tune up new product but put all the blame to it for their own fail misleading others.
  24. I don't know why people like to complicate. Just watch the video to see how Mantis for PSVR is working with Rift S or Quest. Check it out, stop complicate and order one if you are not satisfied with generic. Mantis will provide you same experiences CV1.
  25. It is much easier to bitching on Reverb and returns it just after unboxing.
