  1. Did they mention why they prefer the F-35? Was it for the avionics or is that just based on the way she handles? Just curious, I am very interested in what the actual pilots have to say. Btw thanks for your contributions to this thread, beau. It's nice having a SME around to provide some real world knowledge.
  2. Hopefully this post doesn't get buried by a few pages of comments from a handful of Debbie Downers, but if it does, I will be happy to give it a quote/bump. Very well said.
  3. Makeup of a top notch flight sim: Avionics 15% Flight model 13% Cockpit model 22% Emergency arrestor tail hook 50% better get your priorities in order, KI ;)
  4. I would just like to point out that you can launch the updater independent of starting up DCS world. I find it's quite efficient to fire up the computer a half hour or so before game time, click on the updater, and finish a chore or two while the updater does its magic.
  5. Backed! Best of luck KI. Seems like you have a great vision and lofty goal. Here's hoping you can make the happen.
  6. Wow this project looks great! Very excited! Not a lot for the haters to work with here, this looks legit! Best of luck KI
  7. Ok quick question regarding AFM for the F-15C. Will that do away with the autopilot aerial refueling? Tanking with the A-10C (and to a lesser extent the Su-33) is the most satisfying part of the game for me, but with the F-15 it is just such a let down when you make contact with the boom and then the computer takes control away from you. Anybody in the know care to make a comment?
  8. GAU-22 huh? Is that derived from the M61? Also, does the naval version have probe and basket aerial refueling? Very excited about this project. Go Kinney!
  9. Potential problem... my buddy and I were flying a mission and he got shot down by AAA. He spent the next 45 minutes watching me work over targets. I searched all over for him with my TGP but was unable to find him. I ended up landing (the attack was near an airfield) and he walked up to my jet, but I was still unable to see him. Long story short, his pilot character could not be seen by the other client (me) in his hosted multiplayer session. Anyone else encounter this?
  10. No, A-10C standalone v 1.1.1.1 is still available on the DCS website. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/previous_versions/dcs_a10c_warthog_english_1.1.1.1/ Works fine, but if you're into multiplayer the community has for the most part migrated to World. Also, Nevada is in the works, but will be an update for World, not the standalone version.
  11. Also it seems like fuel consumption is higher. I used to burn 5k an hour cruising at 10,000 MSL now it's over 6k
  12. Hey ED, I would gladly sacrifice the carrier ops (for now) if that means you get the Hornet out the door a little quicker.
  13. This mission is amazing, and my buddy and I have been logging some long flight hours, but lately we've been wanting more. After we complete a couple taskings from Chalice we're cleared to RTB, but we want to keep rolling. Is there any way we can edit the mission file to make it such that Chalice keeps giving us mission taskings?
  14. So are preemptive flares effective now in 1.2.3?
  15. Hey fellas, just had an epiphany and thought I would share because I have been searching for a solution for a while and it just dawned on me. After completing a mission, the game would CTD prior to the debrief screen. Used to drive me crazy because my stats wouldn't save to the flight log. Started thinking about it, and realized that since my game was being run in administrator mode, every time I would start DCS World, a window would pop up asking me if I wanted to allow DCS to make changes to my computer. I imagine that same window would want to pop up as the game transitioned from simulator to front end. Stopped running the program in administrator mode, and the game stopped crashing upon mission completion. I'll admit this wasn't the most thorough investigation, but I think it worked for me and hopefully this helps someone out somewhere on down the line.
  16. Played the 4hr beta. I know you guys are all against the always online nature of the game, but just that small demo of cooperative play with others in the region has me pretty excited about this game.
  17. The pilot director lights on the underside of the KC-135 work properly! Did some tanking in the F-15C and while the autopilot was hooked up, saw both PDLs green and in the center! Tested the A-10C and when I pushed in or pulled out too far, the lights responded accordingly. Glad to see they made that improvement, especially since I imagine DCS F-15C will require the pilot to manually AAR. A small thing, but a very welcome fix! Thanks ED :D
  18. There's your problem right there! It took me about two weeks of practice 1-2 hours daily to master AAR. Once it clicks though, it clicks. Nothing more satisfying than taking a full bag of gas in one contact, imho. Good luck. You'll feel pretty BA that first time you stay connected for 10 seconds plus.
  19. It's always something simple :D
  20. Just make sure your canopy is open so the ground crew can hear you. If you don't hear "Copy" after your request you're not getting any work done on your plane.
  21. Well with Wags stating that certain aircraft are being withheld for ED and its close partners, it's hard not to notice the conspicuous absence of any F-16 announcements.
  22. I'm impressed that Stalintc was able to master aar overnight. Must be a pretty good mission...
  23. With the F/A-18C more or less officially announced, I'm wondering which aircraft are going to be available to midair refuel it. I guess you could do the boom drogue adaptor for the KC-135, but personally I would much rather see some actual naval assets dedicated to refueling. Marine KC-130s would be at the top of my wish list. Especially since my wingman and I would be able to grab gas at the same time. Does anyone in-the-know have any info on this issue?
  24. I've been wondering about that for a while now! Thanks :)
  25. Weapon fire=gun, weapon release=missiles Welcome to DCS!
