Looks great. I just hope this doesn't crush my FPS

What does the clip use to power the ir lights? USB? Batteries?

Aug 23 Wagsday update thread! See post title... :music_whistling:

Well, I was really hoping they would fix the comms bug in this latest patch, as most of my favorite multiplayer missions require, or are greatly enhanced, by AAR. If only we could use EMCON procedures...
-
I gotta say, before I stumbled across this thread, I had exactly zero interest in the Mi-8. Now I find myself counting the days...

I'm guessing the icon goes away for the guys that own FC3 so there isn't a A-10A or Su-25A icon with $$$ above it. That was probably pretty irritating to the collectionists among us.
-
Not naysaying, just genuinely curious... what does the Su-25A bring to the table that the T doesn't?

The July 26th Wags Update! Thread
XtraChrisP replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Love tanking with the A-10A now! I used to hate that the sim would take control right after contact. Really looking forward to the F-15C's AFM! Thanks for the work ED! ... I just hope there aren't too many people whining about how hard AAR is now -
A-10A Refueling issue There seems to be a problem with aerial refueling. First thing I noticed was that the AAR lights to the right of the HUD don't illuminate (READY/CONTACT/DISCONNECT). Then when I made contact, the tanker informed me "you're taking fuel," except I was not taking any fuel. I then edited the mission so I was flying an A-10C and everything was functioning as it should. Attached is the track from the A-10A refuel, as well as both missions. Please let me know if I'm overlooking anything or if this is a known issue. Thanks.

I think the key command is "Clickable Cockpit Toggle" or some variation thereof.

Well...... Quite disheartening, to say the least. A compelling argument well presented. Thank you SCJ. As it stands, I was quite excited about the F-35 project and had pledged to the KS. Still am, although my expectations are somewhat tempered in light of some recent info. I still think it's possible for Kinney & Krew to pull off, if only because he has some independence from publishers (Saitek/MC in this case) and a well established World and user base to draw on. It can't be easy starting a program from scratch (Combat Pilot) especially if your publishers start to get antsy. I'm hoping that's why CP failed, and that Kinney Interactive have the talent and access to make the module as good as DCS F-35 can be. Fingers crossed, and I still wish KI the best.

DCS: A-10C and DCS: BS1 on Steam Summer Sale
XtraChrisP replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
So what he's trying to say, new purchasers, is don't get all cheap and try to Save yourselves four bucks (BS1+BS2 upgrade). Go all out and splurge on the full BS2 and rid yourselves of the aforementioned nuisances. -
Realistic A-10C print-outs for Thrustmaster MFD's
XtraChrisP replied to Mnemonic's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Very clever! -
Oh, and try to avoid adding a ton of power and breaking right. I've heard that has disastrous consequences...
-
Good spot. I wonder what it feels like to drop a weapon that heavy from a comparatively light aircraft. Bet you'd have to be pretty quick with the cyclic and collective.
-
Second that. Plus I think it would be really cool to fly a multi crew position attack aircraft. Flying around while a buddy works the weapons, just too much potential for fun there
-
Does the air frame's safety record take a hit if the mishap was a result of pilot error? Not making any insinuations, mind you. Just curious
-
Ok thanks I'll give it another go.

Is it possible to tank a Su-33 from an S-3? I tried making a simple mission where Russia was on the blue side and when I (Su-33) checked in with the tanker (S-3) he called chicks in tow (even though we were the only two aircraft in the mission. Is this a bug or is it just not possible to tank Russian birds with US tankers and vice versa?
-
Looks like an AC vent. But that brings up an interesting question. Where IS the start button? Are the engine controls on the touchscreen?
-
Did they mention why they prefer the F-35? Was it for the avionics or is that just based on the way she handles? Just curious, I am very interested in what the actual pilots have to say. Btw thanks for your contributions to this thread, beau. It's nice having a SME around to provide some real world knowledge.

Hopefully this post doesn't get buried by a few pages of comments from a handful of Debbie Downers, but if it does, I will be happy to give it a quote/bump. Very well said.

Makeup of a top notch flight sim: Avionics 15% Flight model 13% Cockpit model 22% Emergency arrestor tail hook 50% better get your priorities in order, KI ;)

I would just like to point out that you can launch the updater independent of starting up DCS world. I find it's quite efficient to fire up the computer a half hour or so before game time, click on the updater, and finish a chore or two while the updater does its magic.
