  1. My HARMs go straight towards the target, i.e. they start descending right after about 1 second after leaving the rail, while still accellerating with active motor. This results in a max. range of about 25 nm when fired from 25.000 ft. Isn't this a bit ineffective ... or is it realistic?
  2. I mean the development of the Harrier - it's stalling again? Many bug reports for the M2000 were put into the bug tracker during the last weeks/months - which is really appreciated. But in the same time, many bugs were reported here on the forums (similar in numbers as for the Mirage), but none of them (+/- 1 or 2) where seemingly investigated or even put into the bug tracker. Can Razbam please clarify on when the focus is planned to be shifted back to the Harrier again?
  3. Iirc, I was on the JDAM page for the first weapon - just to make sure the designation would work and coordinates were actually transfered. For the second drop, I changed it to TOO at the STORES page, as that was the page the system returned to after dropping the first bomb.
  4. This, unfortunately, does not help in my case In his video, once the first JDAM is set to TOO mode, all weapons are set to TOO mode automatically when they are dropped subsequentially. But when I tried it, I had to set each bomb individually to TOO mode before designating and releasing them. ED has changed the behaviour here, it seems.
  5. I know this, but as I already explained, this is very cumbersome and errorprone imo. I would have to set the QTY just to prepare the Mode=TOO, and then have to undo the QTY setting again because I want to release the bombs individually. What I am looking for is if I am missing an more obvious or more intuitive way to do this.
  6. Today I tried to drop several (i.e. two) JDAMs at different TOO targets. After selecting the weapon, I changed the default Mode=PP to Mode=TOO, designate a target and drop the bomb successfully. After that, I repeated the same procedure for the second JDAM. But this was somewhat hectic though, as the two targets were close together and I could not prepare the 2nd bomb beforehand to Mode=TOO as there is no STEP option anymore at the STORES page. I could have prepared all weapons beforehand by setting the QTY, STEP through them all and set each to Mode=TOO and then not to forget to reset QTY again because I don't want to drop them all at once. This seems cumbersome/errorprone and not really practical. Or am I am missing something here (besides actually missing the STEP option at the STORES page? ;-) edit: fixed paragraph misformatting that the forum software STILL insists to do ...
  7. I think, the WE only actively steers if it has a lock. Otherwise it is either just going balistic or it is still trying to steer to the last locked target ... I'm not yet sure of which variant is actually true, though.
  8. Maybe you mixed that up with the Sniper Pod of the F-16? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=255676
  9. The DL pod seems to work only if it is already active when the weapon is released. If I switch on the pod after the weapon was released, I get only static - although the channel setting is correct. Is that supposed to be that way? Why can't the DL pod establish a connection only before the release of the weapon and not afterwards?
  10. Please clarify what you think the problem is. Why do you think, DCS is not reading from the Saved Games folder - how does that manifests itself as a problem?
  11. I had this as well. I suspect, it has to do with "unlimited ammo=on" that I was using. Loaded with 2 AGM62 (+ DL pod, which I did not use), the first AGM62 did work as expected. Bomb released, stores page STEPped to the other pylon. Did not do anything with the 2nd bomb, but waited for the automatic rearming to happen. Then tried to use the 2nd, still boxed bomb, but no video was shown. Then pressed STEP to get back to the first pylon. There was video feed available, but from the original target area of the first bomb drop (already miles behind me at that moment). After uncaging, I could slew the seeker for, maybe half a screen, then CTD happened. No track available due hard CTD and the DCS.log also ends way before the issue showed up. My guess: something goes wrong with the initialization of the autmatic rearmed weapons (maybe in conjunction with the fact, that the priority station has changed to the 2nd pylon?). edit: I found a Win MiniDump file of the crash in C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\CrashDumps and attached it here - hope that helps. MiniDump.zip
  12. The web site is about NVA / East German Army aviation - what they did, how they trained, how live was for them, the aircraft, the technology, etc.

    PCA/HUD updates

I can't set the HUD to AG mode... PIP HOTAS / Special Modes ... how is this called exactly in the Controls Setup? There are three button bindings called "WeaponSystems...soandso" at the bottom of the HOTAS category, but they seem not to do what is described above? They somehow only alter the radar display, even if I selected AG ordnance at the PCA before + CNM neutral before. What am I doing wrong?
  14. source: https://www.nva-flieger.de/index.php/taktik/arfk/angriffsverfahren-gefechtsordnung.html#anghor This site has TONS of interesting stuff about the GDR army helos, like technology, tactics, training, personal experiences, etc. (but it's all in german).
  15. fwiw (originally from 2014): @mods: can we move this to the bugs sub-forum? ty!
  16. In Munich they had to blow one up in the middle of the city. They "padded" the surrounding buidlings/area with hay bales, iirc, to dampen the blast and to protect from debris (would not help much against actual shrapnell, but I don't really know). Well, turns out that hay and explosives/fire do not go together too well ...
  17. Both is possible, 3rd party devs using the available weapons made by ED and also inventing new (or re-inventing existing) weapons as well. But in DCS, mainly only the physical properties are specified and simulated. That means, if the ED variant of a weapon is used, then the effect on the target (explosion strength, visual effects, etc.) are the same, no matter which aircraft was used to employ it. Same goes for the ballistic properties, including guidance stuff. So, a GBU-38 "flies" the same, no matter who dropped it. What is not shared across modules is how a weapon is integrated into an aircraft. For dumb bombs it is rather simple: it is attached to the aircraft, you press a button, it is no longer attached (and then the ED code for the "flying" part comes into play). For weapons with tons of electronics and their own software: every developer has to ensure that this part is simulated in their respective module. The visual representations that some weapons feed to the aircraft (EO/IR video feed, that laser spotting visual of a MAVE in the Harrier vs. FA-18, etc.) and the possible interactions with the weapon are all part of the code of the module, not of DCS:W.
  18. +1 Uhm, well, usually the technology to find them is something like this: No. They either go up some day or they won't. But they never really become "safe" without digging them up and getting rid of them. In germany, a lot of effort it put into finding them before someone accidentally digs them up, though. Aerial photographs from WWII are analyzed to find duds that might still be in the ground. I think, it is a mandatory prerequisite in many places/cities to have that be done before you are allowed to build a house on your own property in germany. edit: oh, ok, sorry. You were asking about modern bombs. Yes, there are attempts to make them safer. For example the bomblets of a CBU-97 are supposed to deactivate themselfs if they neither found a target nor went off when hitting the ground. Dumb cluster amunitions are said to have a rather high number of duds (like 20+%?), causing problems for decades (hence the attempts to ban CBUs). The CBU-97 is supposed to yield only 3%? 5%? of dud submunitions ...
  19. They get more dangerous the older they get. Especially those with chemical (delay) fuses which become more and more unpredictable over time. The explosives as such don't go bad, afaik, as long as it is contained in the bomb shell and doesn't get in contact with air or water or so.
  20. The phrasing of the poll question is borderlining to be insulting, imo.
  21. From the Wags AMA at Mudspike (https://www.mudspike.com/mudspike-ama-with-eagle-dynamics-senior-producer-matt-wagner/) He does not answer the question but what he said sounds like "No BST = no AH-1" to me, i.e. there are no plans for the Cobra at the moment. If I read this wrong, please correct me, ED ...:noexpression:
  22. Make sure that "AutoTrimmer" is disabled in the Game Options.
  23. Make sure that you have disabled "AutoTrimmer" under Game Options.
  24. That means that the function to load the coordinates from the F10-map into the aircraft is only available on ground? I ask because in the short video Decoy posted 1-2 days ago, he did that in the air, iirc. I assume, that was due to the WIP nature of the feature?
