Screen refresh rate: 60Hz vs 120Hz
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I too have a 120hz 3d vision capable monitor and the difference, even on the windows desktop, between 60Hz and 120hz is pretty dramatic. 120hz is far smoother. You can even notice the difference with mouse movement on the desktop. I find the the blurring you get with 60hz LCDs distracting in game. I think I will always try to get another 120hz monitor if I have to replace this one. Even if I never use 3D again. -
Not sure where exactly to post this but... I am having an odd problem that is occurring when I load DCS World to fly the UH1. (Single Player) I am loosing network connectivity. My DSL modem is not affected, it is just the network connection on my machine. When I run the Windows Network trouble shooter, it fixes the problem. It lists the cause of the problem as being unable to find the Default Gateway (modem). It fixes it by resetting the Local network adapter. The same as ipconfig /release /renew I guess. This does not happen all the time, but it is definitely related to DCS World. I need to do more testing and to find a way to recreate the problem every time. But does any one have any idea why this might be happening or heard of anything similar before? I have never had this problem until around the time UH1 and associated DCS world updates where released.

Yeah, that's what it reminded me of.

Should we keep the autopilot and weapons hint display?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: UH-1H
having played a bit more, i think it would be nice if these hints could be altered in some way so that they don't take up so much space. A smaller font might be good. Another thought was that maybe some kind of graphical icons could be used that would sit horizontally along the bottom of the screen, or similar, that could be used instead of text. -
Woah, that's pretty insane! Likely that it failed to detonate rather than miss I guess?

Really great videos thanks. Part 2 is very interesting.

I agree. Having not flown the KA50 for a long time, due to the arrival of A10c, I was pretty disappointed by how bad looking the terrain is when flying about in the UH1. The contrast between the High detail cockpit model/textures and the dated terrain makes it even worse.

Nice little vid of a Uh-1 start up after rebuild roRtX4cMR7U Some bits remind me of my start-up procedure :D

Framerate drop / choppines after upgrading to 1.2.4
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Kenan's topic in Game Performance
Im pretty sure that setting just affects the resolution of cockpit displays, like the KA50 Abris or the A10c's Multi Function Displays. I wouldn't of thought that it would have any effect on the Uh1 or P51. -
Do you start out playing in Sim and Game mode?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I love the first time I try a sim in full "Sim mode". It's kind of like that question we simmers like to ask (well me anyway :D); if the pilot/crew on a airliner died, "would I be able to land it"? Or, if I was put in a UH1 with no training, "would I be able to fly it first time"? The answer, as it turn out, is a resounding "No"! But still great fun to try! :joystick:  -
I find the fact that a name for a graphics setting could cheapen some one's experience of their sim most amusing :) . Lots of games use an "ultra" setting, and long before bf3 etc. Company of Heroes for one.

I think it's a good idea.

"Where's my body?" Below your head! :D

Nice update, cheers!

Ignoring the political aspect. I thought you guys might like this video of an interview with tank crew from Syria on operating the T72. Quite rare to hear these reviews of non western armor from the tankers perspective. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=81c_1362519932

What myths? I was just glad it wasn't chest thumping USA spiel we get from Discovery/History channel. It actually looked at many things I had not seen before in regards to the history of UAVs and what is coming next. I was pleased to see the talk about the political grey area and humanitarian risk that is involved as well. I think this Doc actually sparked some of the recent interest from the media and public about the use of UAVs (secretive or otherwise). Saudi base etc. You can't please everyone I guess :)

X52 pro problem when using programming software
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Boelie's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Only thing I can think of is to make sure you are using the correct Control key as DCS distinguishes between the Left and Right versions of these keys. Also, some older version of the Saitek programming software only picked up one of either the ALT,SHIFT or CTRL keys, causing problems similar to your description. The most recent programing software should be fine. -
No problem, I got the idea from some other clever person on here who's name I can't remember. Probably SFJackbauer. heh heh :D

It does look like fiber glass on the inside around the cockpit. I think it's a nice design though :) Wonder if it has any f14 parts in it ? :D

It is an issue with the X52, I have one myself and know exactly what you mean. Some things that can help is vigorously moving the slider/rotary back and fourth a lot of times before using it. Do this with the Saitek control panel open so you can see the Axis moving. it only last for a while though. You can also still use Zoom on these rotaries and Sliders by using a work around method involving setting up "bands" in the profile software. EG:- if you wanted to have Zoom in and out on the Precision Slider: Zoom in is: Numpad / Zoom out is: Numpad * Go into the profiler and set the Slider to "Bands" Now split the bands in to 3 sections 0%-30%, 30%-70%, 70%-100% Assign 0%-30% to the / key Leave 30%-70% Empty (this is the position where you will leave the slider most of the time) Assign 70%-100% to the * key Now with the slider in the center position, your view will remain static. With the slider in the forward position you will zoom in. With the slider in the back position you will zoom out. I know it's not exactly as nice as having a fully analogue Zoom on the Slider or Rotary etc, but I have found it to be the best compromise. It sucks that £100+ stick should do this. I guess it is just shoddy electronics in the X52. Maybe spraying some (plastic safe)Contact Cleaner into the "pots" might work, not if they are optical sensors though, I guess. I believe even the X52 pro model suffers from similar problems.

Anyone seen this.
BTTW-DratsaB replied to chardly38's topic in Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
This is normally caused by having Vsync switched off. Have you tried with it turned on? I'm not sure how Vysnc works with multiple monitors though. -
Very good PBS Nova Documentary about "The Rise of the Drones", from all points of view.

I think it looks slick! :) -
Very nice video thanks. I must get back flying the Frog! Do you think ED would ever make the free T-Toad with 6 DOF? After playing A10 and BS so much it is hard to go back to these "basic" planes with no clickable pit or 6DoF. A 6DoF pit would make the 25t much more appealing/fun to fly.
