Excellent clip, worth 5 hours of Discovery documentaries in 5 mins! :) -
Yep I'd like to see this.

Russian Air Force Photos and Video (NO DISCUSSION)
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Flаnker's topic in Military and Aviation
Maybe they are making a training film, there is camera man filming the weapon loader. -
I think this has long been a "problem" with lockon (and other games) and is one of the reasons players always ran with the sea a low quality, as it is rendered under the terrain. But, you may actually see a difference if you turn Vsync off. You have a good PC, so your not actually seeing what your FPS limits are in those screen shots as Vsync is cutting in a limiting your FPS to your monitors refresh rate (60hz). Turn Vsync off and let us know what happens. I'd be interested to know anyway.

Track IR Proclip versus Hatclip
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Blooze's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Agreed, I pretty much have to use the TCP instead of the hat clip when playing DCS A10 and wanting to use all the clickable bits and bobs. The hat is just too inaccurate. They are very fragile though and over priced, still no wireless version either. -

"Put that away, you'll have someones eye out"...lol -
oh, I thought it was going to be a playable demo with the Arbath maybe and Monza. Still, it will good to see how it runs on our hardware.
-
I'm really looking forward to Asseto. There is supposedly going to be a tech demo released before christmas. Anyone play LFS? It's getting a bit dated now I admit, but it still has some great physics and the online racing is still always a blast.

X-52 Joystick Sticking Problems
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Hobo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi and welcome to DCS! It is one of the worst features of this stick, and many Saiteks. They don't even put a dust cover over the plate. Aside from lubricants, you can make the spring less stiff by cable tieing a couple of the spring's rings together. This doesn't completely fix it but it is better. There are a couple of other thread about this on here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52774&highlight=saitek+spring http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=76678&highlight=saitek+spring -
I love Wings of Russia series, thanks for the vid. I would much rather watch some Russian propaganda for a change than all the chest thumping drivel we are constantly fed on western tv/documentaries.

Su25T shkval displayed on SECOND networked PC
BTTW-DratsaB replied to hannibal's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It would be a nice feature to allow export of a cockpit display to a networked local pc. -
I some times have the same prob. Unplugging and re plugging in the cable Mue mentions above helps.
-
Yeah, to see the thread moderated and actually remain some where useful would have inspired much more confidence in the development of this new terrain..

You mean the Hat clip? Nah, that's no where near as accurate as the TCP for Cockpit interaction, I find. It's about time natural point got off their monopolized lazy asses and released a wireless TCP. Preferably one that isn't made of bone china that breaks when it has 1 foot fall. They would probably still charge a stupid price for it and include an unrealistic warranty period, though. I bet they would charge €60+ for a wireless Track Clip Pro. Yeah...natural point arnt exactly one of my favorite companies these days. The gits wouldn't even offer me a discount on a replacement TCP when it broke for the seconds time, I even pointed out to them that they had redesigned the TCP to make it stronger, and mine was an older version that had broken in the exact place they had strengthened. But they wouldn't even do anything to help me out, greedy gits. Ill be damned if I am giving them another €30 for some flimsy piece of plastic that will break in another 12 months. Nice link Op, thanks!

Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)

Nice pics. I hope his leash has "Remove Before Flight" written on it :P -
Stumbled across this link on RT news site, pretty chilling :(. It appears to be a Live Web cam setup in Gaza some where. I have never seen a web cam in a war zone like this before. You can hear Jet aircraft and prop sounds (UAV?) over head and explosions in the distance. http://rt.com/on-air/israel-gaza-live/ ----edit---- Stopped streaming now :/

Why DCS can't support large scale warfare
BTTW-DratsaB replied to bkthunder's topic in Game Performance
Arnt the FPS drops caused by MLRS and bombs just bugs that need to be fixed? -
No..I'm pretty sure I bought Nevada too...How is it a bonus? They reduced the cost of DCS A10 considerably after Nevada was removed....And I was one of the ones who bought the beta at full price, with Nevada included. Also a large part of why I bought DCS:A10 was for Nevada. Mainly due to the fact I was (and still am) sick of looking at the Georgian/Russian territory since 2001. Also in the small hope it might run better than that old terrain. I don't post in here too often and have never complained about the delay ( even though it obviously does irk me.) I will pretty annoyed though if they try to charge me again for Nevada. If they want to charge everyone for the fact that the new map also includes development of Edge, then I expect those who bought Nevada already to get it heavily discounted. In fact They should probably give it to us Beta users for free anyway as a sorry for the delay....I mean there are a lot more people playing DCS:A10 now then when we bought the beta. How many beta owners are there anyway? But your only going to piss people off by making statements like, "you have NOT purchased the Nevada map"...

Elite: Dangerous. Official Elite remake on Kickstarter!
BTTW-DratsaB replied to BTTW-DratsaB's topic in Chit-Chat
I know Elite from Frontier on the Amiga. I only ever played Elite recently (Oolite), but I found it quite limited. Frontier just seems to have been Elite but way better, with more things like proper physics, planetary bases etc. The limitations of Oolite made me go looking for some thing else to get my fix, which led me to Pioneer. Which looks great, but when you play it, you can't help but think...Damn! when is that damn Braben gonna release what we all really want.? Then 2 days after this nostalgia trip and wishful thinking I saw the Kickstarter announcement on BBC. It almost feels as though I wished it into existence :D -
Any old Elite/Frontier fans? Great news as David Braben has a started a Kickstarter project for a modern sequel to the classic Elite/Frontier. He is looking for £1.2 million and expects a release in 2014. Links: http://www.frontier.co.uk/news/latest/?artid=280&pageNum=0&blk=12 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20165344
