Sorry if this wrong to post this here, or if it has already been posted somewhere else out side the RRG forum. I am only semi interested in the DCS:WW2 so I only saw this video by chance, but I found it really, really interesting. That is why I re-post it here, as I think anyone who has been a DCS fan for a few years will want to watch this regardless of what type of aircraft you like to fly or what modules your interested in. I think it should be sticky at the top of this forum. Lots of people really love to hear from the horses mouth about games development, the processes and stories involved. Again, sorry if this is wrong to post it here/re post. I just think it need some recognition. :pilotfly:

Just looking through the manual that comes with the Su25 module and it has a section called: "VOICE MESSAGES AND WARNINGS" I'm guessing that shouldn't be there then?
-
Well I guess that's another button I can free up on my HOTAS :). I do agree that they need to clean up the Su25a control list as there appear to be a few things in there that are exclusive to the 25T that they let you assign for the 25a.
-
Ahh ok thanks, I must be just remembering the 25-t. I wonder if you could mod them in. I know it's not realistic if the real one doesn't have it, but I do like the immersion/atmosphere it gives :)
-
I have flown the Su25 a few times now and I noticed there are no warning sounds. Such as warning tones for Stall, minimum speed, AOA over limit, Pull Up/ground collision etc. No Russian Betty voice in the cockpit either. I remember in Flaming cliffs I had more sounds, so I think some thing is wrong. Any ideas? =================================================== One other thing I think is a bug/oversight: By default it has "Axis Commands/ZoomView/" assigned to TrackIR Z-Axis The TrackIR Z-Axis should be assigned to: "Axis Commands/Cockpit Camera Move Forward/Backward". I guess you could have it setup the first way, but for new players they will probably find it annoying/confusing.

Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
BTTW-DratsaB replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Nice sale. I got a couple of modules in the Steam sale a week or two ago, so I'll be passing this one by. I do kind of sympathize with the people who are annoyed by the Mi8 sale. I know I wont be buying any ED modules at full price again, too risky if sales pop up this quickly. Might be shooting themselves in the foot. I'd say after the Uh1 and now the Mi8, a lot of others will be doing the same. And If they arnt hurt (in a business sense) by this effect, then that means they must be really inflating the initial cost of the modules from what they think it is actually worth. That's how a customer will perceive it anyway. -
Cool to hear ED are looking at it! Thanks!
-
Thanks for the nice screen shots. How come? Would the unrealistic replies/illogical comparison shots that some people are giving offend ED or some thing? Why couldn't they just ignore these posts? I really hope that is not the case. :dunno: Ed knows that what they are showing is WIP....so..? Anyway, thanks for the screen shots Wags. Looking forward to this one for a long time!

I agree, I find this argument very odd. The non click able cockpits really have very few controls. And I don't think I would have any problem using the mouse while not being able to see it for the clickable pits. I never look at it anyway, there is no need to. The only problem would probably for users without a HOTAS controller. Actually, looking back at the first page of this thread, even Wags seems to think not being able to see the keyboard would be a problem! Has he played his own sim with HOTAS or click-able cockpit :) ? Yesterday I was flying the Su25a, I used the keyboard once to press escape and exit the mission. I was also flying the A10C...same thing, one key..ESC to exit :D It will be a damn shame if DCS doesn't support this. The enjoyment and immersion boost this will tech will bring far out weigh any minor issues with the keyboard.

It seems to be quite hard to produce the vapor trails on the 25. I have seen them though. Does anyone know if only your (Client) plane creates these new vapors? I set up a AI furball with the new Su27 and some F18s, f15s etc and I didn't see any of them produce the vapor. I also wonder about the new smoke effect, I have not seen that at all yet.

why russian pits are in baby blue color?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to muamshai's topic in Military and Aviation
I really love the look of the blue cockpits. It does remind me of hospitals some times though :) . Especially the Green/blue like in the Hind (iIrc). -
Thanks for the nice sale. Got me an Su25 and Combined arms!

Discontinuing Weekly Updates - Please reconsider
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Cobra847's topic in Chit-Chat
Couldn't be arsed to read 6 pages. But as a fairly silent member, I do find it annoying when the devs have to retract some thing lots of the (silent) community was enjoying because of forum members who cant show a little restraint. I did think the "wags day" threads popping up every week that where 10 pages long before any news was even posted was pretty childish/ and probably irritating for the devs (the mods should have stamped on this). I never did see any the complaints that where posted by members about news released by Wags...but I guess it does not surprise me that some members would do this.. I guess the devs also should maybe have had a thicker skin, it is the internet after all (land of the idiot with a platform to speak). And I don't see why the Moderators could not have put the hammer down on posters who where incapable of showing some respect/restraint. But anyway, I'll look forward to the news letter. -
The Wrong Stuff: 80's Horizon Documentary
BTTW-DratsaB replied to BTTW-DratsaB's topic in Military and Aviation
Pretty much. Chuck Yeager is not welcome on the flight deck :D -
Here is a BBC Horizon Documentary that some of you might also find interesting about the role of poor flight deck communication and Human error in Airline crashes.

Hey SergeyL. Nice pics and all (Tu22 cockpit is very interesting), but can you not post them in both photo threads ? Keep the Rus pics for the Rus thread and vice versa, or at least just one of them. Thanks :)

Excellent series of Su docs, thanks for sharing. Episode 3 was particularly good. Also, the title is not as pretentious as you might think, they explain in the first episode that it was taken from the title of a chapter in a book. I find most Russian (especially Wings Of Russia) Docs way more humble than the drivel Discovery channel etc put out.

I too have always really enjoyed the Su25A. I love all the different type of weapons you can hang off it and the minimal HUD. She's a bit of a speed demon too :)
-
Heh heh :D Maybe they just like to take the diplomatic option on missions too

Very cool idea, I might have ago at this!

Get rid of Shimmering with SGSSAA I recently upgraded from a GTX295 to a GTX670 and I was seeming to be getting a lot more Shimmering and aliasing on objects in the game world no matter what I did to try to remove it. E.g: 8xMSAA and Super-sampling, also tried In game TSAA options etc. Nothing seemed to smooth out this very distracting aliasing everywhere (and in many sim games I play). However, I have found a way to kill the shimmering completely. It's called SGSSAA (Sparse Grid Super Sampling Anti Aliasing) and it can only be activated Via Nvidia Inspector. If you have a decent GFX card I strongly recommend trying it out. Here is a very good site that explains SGSSAA and all things AA related (such as the difference between MSAA and MSAA Q) http://naturalviolence.webs.com/sgssaa.htm Here is another good explanation of how to apply SGSSAA: http://www.overclock.net/t/1250100/nvidia-sparse-grid-supersampling The main points to set it up are (Using NV Inspector Elevated settings): 1.Set Antialiasing behavior flags to none 2.Set Antialiasing - mode to Override 3.Set Antialiasing - Setting to 2x,4x or 8x MSAA (only works with MSAA afaik) 4.Set Antialiasing - Transparency SuperSampling to the equivalent of the previous settings. Eg if AA - setting is set to 2x then set this setting to 2x also. They must be the same. 5.Set Texture filtering - LODBias(DX9) to one of the following settings based on what AA you have chosen above: (The use of SGSSAA causes a bit of blurring, this counters it by sharpening up the textures) 2x MSAA + 2x SGSSAA: -0.500 4x MSAA + 4x SGSSAA: -1.000 8x MSAA + 8x SGSSAA: -1.500 6.Finally, Set Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias to Allow You can get NV Inspector here: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5077-nvidia-inspector.html

Ability to edit controller options in game
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Piraneous's topic in DCS Wishlist
Yep, the same can be said for all settings, such as Graphics options. You would get a really good sense of what performance (and visual) gains or impacts each setting had if you could change it "on the fly". Another one would be Audio Sliders. If I could adjust these in game, for the first time in over Ten years of Lockon/DCS I would able to get an idea of what each slider actually effects and properly balance the sound to my liking. The one big thing blocking any of this for the foreseeable future? The way the game is split into two separate .exes, one for the Game and one for the Front end. Not 100% sure why they made it like this, probably a good reason I'm sure. It would be nice if one day we could customize the sims options and settings while we are actually playing. The guys over at Rise Of Flight did it a while ago and it was a very welcome change. -
No Gatling guns and rockets in fast mission?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to NinjaWrath's topic in DCS: UH-1H
OP is correct with assuming this is a problem. Or more like a unfinished feature that has yet to be completed in the Beta, I suppose. The Fast mission generator needs to be tweaked for the UH1. Such as including armament by default and also to provide more realistic enemies to fight against. For example if you generate a quick mission now and set all forces to No and then put Vehicle units to Min, you will be tasked with destroying 4*BTR80s 4*T72s and 8*Artillery units and some trucks. I'd like it to generate more light vehicles and infantry etc as threats for UH1 missions Fast missions. -
Yeah, I'd love to see a rain drops effect, like in rise of flight. It's a simple post effect (I think) that costs very few FPS. U418sxylGi8
