  1. 16 days old, if this is a necro, I'm sorry. On my old machine I uninstalled the nvidia drivers so I could use an extra AMD card I have. Of course, the nvidia hdaudio driver did not actually uninstall and conflicts with the AMD hdaudio driver. I remembered the name "driver sweeper" from the old days and see that it's called DDU now. Should I give it a go? This other machine still runs Win7, so I hope I wouldn't run into an issue like the one above.
  2. More buttons on the HOTAS makes you more *competitive,* that is why people prefer it. It does not increase the fidelity of simulation, and can even become a kind of negative-training if you need/want to know the aircraft's systems.
  3. I have to give a nod to the pilots on this server. I only saw one F-18 team kill in about 2 hours of play. Good to see people actually confirming before they shoot, even without IFF interrogation.
  4. Tired of previews, trailers, teasers...
  5. Thanks for the great PvE server! Just a heads-up about the Hornet, the team kills are a little out of hand with the F/A-18C. Just my opinion, but maybe the "kick back to spectator" doesn't send a strong enough message.
  6. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Are they flying FC3 planes on this server?;)
  7. Hype, hype, hype...
  8. I remember when the M2k rwr was only half functional. When it was finally fixed it made a world of difference. Looking forward to RWR improvements to the F18.
  9. Dirty canopies are a disease of flight sim games, not just the Mig-21. Get some windex and clean that thing!
  10. This the Achilles heel of DCS. You can't see objects at a reasonable distance with a typical setup.
  11. Just set visibility range to medium in settings.
  12. You have way too much free time. Maybe in another 10 years? I can't see the arresting wires after I land on the carrier.
  13. I'm a little surprised they're aren't available already. Some Russian missiles would be appropriate, too.
  14. Tell them to engage and then let them do whatever.
  15. Forward the port using the internal ip. With dcs you don't even have to know your external ip because of the server list.
  16. I doubt that any gpu in the present or near future is going to run 2.5 at a constant 60fps at 6k resolution... maybe with some settings reduced. Read up about VR if you want the surround experience before you go for triple displays.
  17. It took me about 10 tries to complete it. Don't bother launching the AIM-7 BVR. Notch like crazy and then use the radar acm modes to lock targets when you are within 10nm. Kill one mig head-on, and blow through the merge to gain separation. If you try to dogfight right away you will die badly. Other thoughts... Ditch the stupid centerline tank asap, decrease rwr volume, and disable the g-limiter at the right moments, especially to evade inbound missiles.
  18. Ahhh screw it. I gave up and mapped the elevation to the paddle on the TWCS throttle. The control is improved even if it is in the wrong place.
  19. For now I mapped a big deadzone on the axis and set a big curve. That artificially makes the midpoint very large and allows for some degree of control. It's still not as good as the elevation axis on the Mirage 2000 or F-16.
  20. Thank you! That fixed it.
  21. I read about it as a boy in a Tom Clancy novel: KGB knocks on the door of Eagle Dynamics. Yoyo, sporting a pony tail and Birkenstocks, calls out in a whisper to his colleagues: "We've got company." Yoyo opens the door and snow flakes flurry inside. The unnamed KGB officer takes two steps into the room and stops. With hands hidden in his trench coat, he surveys the room for a brief moment, and smirks. He says only one name: "Blackshark." "B-b-but the Flanker, we were promised!" stammers Chizh. "Black-Shark!" repeats the KGB officer. He narrows his eyes, stares down Chizh, turns and leaves as abruptly as he arrived. ...later on in the story, Jack Ryan makes contact with an ED team member in Switzerland and he learns of the original plans for a full-switch Su-27 with R-77s. The code was only "2 weeks" away from being finished, but the only physical copy resides on 3.5" floppy disks in a Moscow vault. To be continued...
  22. Ahhh, so we would need a spring to return it to the center position. That makes more sense for the real controller. An option to make ours like F-16 radar elevation would be appreciated.
