A BUG/WIP list so we know what's been reported
gavagai replied to BlueAngel's topic in Bugs and Problems
In training missions it doesn't recognize that you've pressed the button/switch if the dialogue has not finished. You can press the button/switch a second time, but that sometimes undoes what you need, requiring you to press it 3 times in total. Thanks for this list. It was exactly what I'm looking for. Now I can know whether things not working is because they are WIP or because I am incompetent! -
Move FC3/4 aircraft radar to the newer model?
gavagai replied to StandingCow's topic in DCS Core Wish List
+1 Been there with the M2K against everyone else playing in boyscout mode. I've been locked up on the taxiway on servers where the only AI in the air is awacs. -
Visa won't let you use a gift card to make online purchases from a retailer outside the USA. I could easily use my credit card to purchase the SH map and spend the gift card some other way, but I am stubborn. What's the best way around that? Anyone ever try to move the funds to paypal?

5.2ghz facebook machine.

Base clock is still at 3.7ghz. 4.3ghz is just the boost frequency that you see in the description. I haven't done anything to the cpu in the bios; everything except the ram is set to "auto." I max out at 85 degrees Celsius with prime95 using the stock cooler, if that helps you as a reference point.

Forgot to activate my Normany module after my upgrade, and the whole game hung on loading a mission that uses the Normany map. The dialog window to activate the module was there in the background, but I could not alt-tab to it to enter my activation code. I tried opening the task manager, but still could not alt-tab to it. Had to force-quit everything back to the desktop. Anyway, there's some feedback. I love DCS but that activation window needs to be fixed. Thanks.

Yes, for now all I've done is to enable the xmp profile for the ram at 3.2ghz. The boosted clock speed is confirmed at 4.3ghz with cpuid.

Just built my 2700x system today. I haven't configured much, but the heatsink that comes with the 2700x is impressive for a "stock" cooler. It was one of the easiest builds I've ever done. Still a lot of tweaking to do...
-
I have no idea, but this kind of benchmark is typical: The 2600x still loses to last year's 1800x.

No problem. CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 ASRock X470 Master SLI/AC AM4 Ryzen 2700x (obviously) SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 500GB and I'm finally biting the bullet with windows 10.:( It cracks me up that the the most expensive thing I bought was the ram. My how times have changed. I'm also keeping my old case, myriad fans, and 650W corsair psu.

Fri13, you can adjust the throttle tension with a little screw underneath. Put the throttle all the way forward, and turn it over. Just loosen that screw and it is 100% better. RTFM.:smartass:

I bought parts for a new 2700x based system last night. They should arrive Friday. For now I'm keeping my gtx1070 because upgrading the gpu would be marginal (and expensive).

In the controls it says (mouse) in parentheses for tdc slew. I can only guess that this is a place holder. This is the time to learn the hornet's systems. Don't worry about combat right now.

last win10 update possibly sucked 10% perf

Microsoft is patching the OS to guard against a security flaw created by Intel. -
I'm curious about the ram for the x470 boards. Corsair LPX 32GB (2X16) DDR4-3200 The newegg specs advertise: And that's the highest frequency ram I can find that advertises AM4 friendliness. When I read reviews of other high frequency modules people report issues getting the advertised frequency.

Do we need an airquake server for WW2?
gavagai replied to gavagai's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I didn't realize that some servers weren't running the beta. The release version does not include the memory manager. -

Historical scenarios are great but not required to enjoy the realistic flight/avionics. My ass gets sore flying around for 2 hours and maybe seeing one or two other players, and sometimes not seeing them at all because aircraft spotting is so crappy with warbirds in DCS. Fix the visibility and pilot density and I'd be excited to participate in historical scenarios. -

Of course, I think we all prefer more realistic combat, but that's not the point. Usually you need a critical mass of pilots before the more realistic type of combat is viable. Right now, with less than 10 pilots on a server, we're not simulating much of anything. Pilots need a place to practice and gain confidence before they're going to thirst for a larger map. -

Then is the problem price? DCS WWII is great, but as an initial kickstarter backer I got in at a bargain. You've got the map, the asset pack, and 4 fighters. If you buy them all right now... Spiitfire $50 Bf 109 $50 Fw 190 $50 P-51D $40 Normandy $60 WW2 assets pack $30 ---------------- $280 for the DCS WWII experience, which is probably too much to attract the WW2 crowd. The other thing that makes me tire of WWII in DCS is the visibility settings. With a 4k display I have a hard time seeing aircraft even with the label mod. It's not so bad with other time periods because of radar, awacs, and the larger size of many 3rd/4th gen fighters. -
Every Normandy map is spread out with a handful of pilots (if any). I can't help but wonder if we need an airquake map for WW2 to rekindle interest. Many people don't have the time, or patience, to fly around for an hour squinting for pixels, and usually coming up empty.

Wildcat vs A6M combat has good memories for me from other sims. Once you see the F4U it isn't much of a contest.

Some of us still own an old MSFFB2 or Logitech G940. The old story about a lawsuit stopping the production of FFB sticks is a red herring. Right now you can purchase new FFB racing wheels, for example.
-
You can get a better flight model by painting a cardboard box like a WW1 scout, placing it in front of a fan, and then you sit in the box and make airplane/machine gun noises. :pilotfly: P.S. The lack of proper FFB makes it a serious let down for FFB users. That and the total recalcitrance from the devs to admit that there is anything wrong with FFB in their game.

Question: If I enable icons in my own settings, will they be on or off by default on this server? I pressed L-shift-F10 a few times and still can't see a thing in 4k. It's like the other aircraft are invisible.
