Hi, I did the training mission on the TSD, so I am familiar on how to add a control measure. I joined a MP server today (Hoggit Georgia at war) and wanted to add a CM, however it was not possible. Even though I could select any other type of point, i.e. WP, HZ, TG, I could not select CM. It also was the only option that had a vertical green bar next to the letters. What went wrong? Was the database already full? Hoggit populates the database quite heavily. Thx

I found this option in the VR options page and in the patch notes, however no info on it in the general DCS docs (which are from 2020 as it looks). So what does this feature do? I ask because after a bit of a break from flying my DCS is basically unflyable since 2.8. I usually smirked at people calling their DCS unplayable, but this time I am affected myself. Where in 2D I get 80+ fps in the Apache on a heavily populated server in 3D I am in the 20-30 fps range. I has never been that bad.

Cannot Warthog CMS push to chaff/flare slap button
Donglr replied to Donglr's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Turns out to be user error. I had that button assigned to be a modifier (for whatever reason). Works. -
I wanted to assign the push down (5th) button of my Warthog stick CMS to the chaff/flare dispense panic/"slap" button. In the menu the button press is correctly recognized as BTN_19, however the respective cell in the button assignment table remains empty after I press OK. If I use a different button, e.g. one of the coolie hat buttons, everything works as expected. It is only my CMS push (BTN_19) that does not remain in the overview table after assigning. I am on the current OpenBeta.

That seems to have been the solution. Played for a while, certainly more than 30min and no crash. If now only for the next time there was a more telling error message.... Thank you Flappie for having a look and finding the answer so quickly!

IMO it is boderline audacious to charge $40 for this module. The feature improvement over the last years is negligible. What it does now is close to what it did when it came out, while the very basics are still not covered, yet. First and foremost this is the path finding algorithm. Just now I sent a Bradley on its way, a short way mind, on a road and it still managed to get itself stuck on the railing on a bridge. That is one wasted unit that it took some time to build on a MP server. CA is generally unable to follow any path that is anything but straight, as vehicles will get stuck at things like light posts at the road side. On the Rotorheads server you are actually forbidden to move infantry, as it is too resource hungry. So a greedy algorithm that doesn't even work properly. And obviously there is no VR support. So I actually have to restart DCS in 2D to hop into my just created unit in a MP server, just to find I cannot drive it because it is stuck. I recently had a chat with a buddy of mine and he asked if CA was worth the $40. I couldn't believe this is the current price. IMO in its current state it is not worth more than $10. Compare how much more graphics and systems work you get with a WWII plane. To me CA is a classic example of a module effectively abandoned. Other thing like Super Carrier are just more sexy and sell better.

My game crashed about 20-30min into the game. Don't really know when this started to happen, as I was on a little DCS break, but it definitely happens this and the previous version. I am on OpenBeta. It also happend on the current and the previous Radeon drivers. I play in VR. I tried using OpenXR once to see if that makes a difference, but performance was so bad, that I didn't fly long enough to get a conclusive result. So back to SteamVR. The .zip is what the dxdiag made after the crash. ~1 out of every three crashes the game is still so much alive, that it is "very sorry the game crashed" and would like to collect some data. In all other cases the SteamVR Mountain ridge view appears, saying "waiting...", the desktop repeater image just freezes and I have to task manager kill DCS. dcs.log-20220806-210313.zip

This is a wonderful post that makes quite a lot of things clearer!

Hi all, when watching Wags's video on the hellfires I was under the assumption that you need a target/waypoint as an acquisition source before you can fire the the missile can find its general area where to look at for the laser. Now I saw this trainign video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP2-zQf3dD4 (sorry, German!) where the guy does not use a target/wayoint, but simply hovers behind a hill, point the aircraft in the general direction of the target, fires and hits. So I wonder why would you make a target/waypoint and use it as ACQ, if all it takes for a buddy lasing kill is having a JTAC lasing and just point in the general direction when firing(within range, of course)? EDIT: wrong link

Does anyone else have the problem that in multiplayer the COOP mode for the rockets is not working? I know how the mode works because I can do it in single player no problem. However in multiplayer the distance between the I beam and my LOS reticle remains the same , no matter how I point the nose of the aircraft. Also does not make a difference if I select the target first and then cycle to rockets or first select rockets and the choose a target. And no, I cannot attach a track file, because it only happens in multiplayer and those track files are huge. (As is my frustration with this bug AND Georg's aiming skill with Hellfires ) Still a wonderful chopper, though.

reported earlier no RLWR alerts for the human CPG
Donglr replied to Rongor's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ok, I feel so much better now after seeing the issue was "solved" but still no warnings for me. Though I was doing something wrong but apparently it is still bugged. Didn't get anything today, RLWR was on, all volume dials to max and CMWS to CMWS, et nothing for me, only the pilot. -
The Apache is fun, but looking for targets from the pilots seat is no fun really. George is doing a soso job. I fly mostly multiplayer, is there a way to change seats in multiplayer? Doesn't seem like it. This is a huuuuge bummer! Most people don't want to jump into an aircraft with a stranger and most people don't want to organize a friend when they feel like getting some combat action. But without being able to use the TADS this bird is basically a glorified Mi8.

Grafikoptionen, Preload radius: 1. Steht die Zahl für Meter? Also wenn das auf 100000 steht lädt der alles vor was in einem 100km Radius ist? 2. WAS wird denn da vorgeladen?
-
I can open the VoIP window all right with LCtrl+LShift+Tab, but I cannot click anything. This includes the antenna symbol to actually get into aircraft mode. I get the blue cross cursor in VR but not the white one which usually appears with the radio comms F1-F10 menu.
-
Thumbs up with all the thumps I have! I particularly want to stress what a good balance you stroke on what features to include in this EA release. The aircraft feels complete enough to be useful in any scenario, unlike the F16 back then. Time to completion will just...fly!

You can watch Casmo's PILE of fresh Ah64 videos while waiting for the patch to go live
-
Nothing says "quick start" like 360 pages Thank you ED, for providing such comprehensive info so early on! This will make our lives much easier.
-
And there it is, Casmo's explanation
-
My thoughts exactly! In the vid Wags explicitly puts the very right end of the head tracker on the target. The LOS is somewhat below the targets and the I Beam is to the left of it all. Yet still he hits something. EDIT: ahhh, this is how it's done in the COOP mode where you do not control the I beam with your own head movement. You navigate the aircraft til the LOS is on the I beam, no matter if it is top, bottom or center, and shoot once you are on it horizontally. Still the first method baffles me a bit
-
I need a Casmo follow-up on this. I basically understood nothin' Why is the I beam not on the target? Why is it to the left of it? What is the role of the diamond? How is the I-beam different from a CCIP indicator? Do the pods move left and right as well as up and down with head movement?
-
