  1. A couple of final things before painting
  2. Cheers Kuky, should have it back next Friday. Will post some pics after that.
  3. I pulled it apart and have installed it into my own seat cushions which makes it nice and clean.
  4. Thanks Brass (and everyone else), have decided on the following: * Satin Black for the Seat and the Base * Dark Gull Grey for the consoles and command center Painting next week
  5. That is my gut feeling as well. one times gametrix jetseat for sale - hardly used :)
  6. It's the MS Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless - Went for this as the keypad is separate which is handy for re centering. Plus it makes it quite easy to find the F5 and F6 keys as they are on each side of the split. It really is killing me about the colour, I really like the thought of matt black, especially once I get all the stickers attached. Frak!
  7. Would you believe I've been losing sleep over what colour to do the sim. Some Mk10's are painted grey like the one's in the Tornado's but others are matt black (like the one in the RNZAF Aermacchi MB339CB). Still got a week to make a decision - arghhhhh
  8. Thank you Hegykc, most of us have kept the faith and we can see light at the end of the tunnel. Looking forward to seeing what you produce. Anything that enhances our sim experience will be a plus. I can only speak for myself but price is not the issue, quality is. Love quality and items that feel like replica's. I think it is the one thing I like about the warthog, the stick feels great in your hand (not in a rude way).
  9. Created the command console to house the computer, sub/amp and enable me to have the one wiring connection to the sim. I'm happy with how that is working / looking. Speakers on the left console have been countersunk which helps protect them from knocks and looks smarter. Riveting the seat this weekend to give it a more authentic look. Still need the 2m USB cable for the Jetseat cable and then that will be hidden away nicely through the base of the seat through to the center console. Will powder coat it matt black when finished.
  10. Agree, nicely done.
  11. Starway - just downloaded and also donated - nice work.
  12. I'm not sure if anyone has already asked for this or if it is even possible but does anyone know if we can use the warthog throttle radio activation button to scroll up and down the radio menus. Does that make sense? i.e. when you bring up the radio menu, you push it down for going down the menu and push up to go back up the menu. Pushing in selects the item highlighted. This could make a simple way of going through the radio menus for VR users. Just an idea. Also does the new mouse over window in VR seem really large?
  13. Most of the wiring done - just short a 2m USB extension for the Jetseat so that all cables are hidden under or through the center console. Still a lot of work yet and one thing I am going to do this week is semi mount the speakers flush in the consoles (pointing upwards) which I hope will look very smart and reduce the risk of damage. Ejection Seat - Plenty still to do here over the coming weeks. One thing is for sure, this feels very compact sitting in it. Cables - I decided to go with a single flexible hose attached to the center console for all the cables (speaker wires, HDMI, USB and Power). Here is the other side of the center console where the 10 port USB3 Hub and power board are kept out of view. The access panels all in place
  14. Out with the old and in with the new - still a lot of work to do with cabling, riverting, belt tensioners, drogue gun etc
  15. Just a few more pictures from this week:
  16. So cool Neil, my 2nd one arrived today :) looking forward to doing person to person combat with them
  17. I agree, VR adds the visuals we have wanted but I still would like a certain amount of touchy feely from the likes of key switches and knobs and also a good quality (read solid) landing gear lever (as a boxed item). Have always loved your pit as well wasserfall, your seat is fantastic if I remember correctly.
  18. It can only get better thats for sure Kuky :) Same, every person who has been to my house want's to keep coming back as they cannot stand their monitors anymore :) What's your framerates like? I'm getting between 24 and 30 on high and pixel at 2.0 - cranked everything down and it didnt increase much, up high was getting 40 frames. How is anyone getting 60+ and especially on take off.
  19. A little more work this week, almost there. Later today is the access panel covers and also the threaded inserts for the mounting holes, plus the ejection seat launch tube. Next week will be some final machining of parts for the ejection seat, then home to wire up and look a the seat cushions etc before heading to the powder-coaters. Thinking about a nice rocket pack for under the seat as well. Thoughts on colour: Matt black? As you can see here, the access panel holes are all cutout. There are several holes in each of the consoles going through the base for running all the cables. The idea is to have all the USB, HDMI and Power cables all hidden away. The centre console will have 10 Port USB3 Hub hidden away and also a power distribution board, keeping it nice and tidy. Later on, I am planning to enclose one of the sims (yes building two of these) so I can hang my elbow out the side of the cockpit in the Rift :) The MFG Crosswinds will be adjustable in and out through quick release pins for those longer legged people (unlike me). And I'm not sure if I am allowed to mention anything but Andre' is looking at making an exclusive Jetseat to fit the MK10. It will be more compact, made of different material and not have an orange edge :) (Am I in trouble Andre?)
  20. Nice update Hegykc, some of us have kept the faith.
  21. Hi Impalor, mine is shipping to NZ. Have you made sure your payment and shipping details are correct on you oculus account?
  22. It's so hard to convey to others what it is like and until they jump in they seem skeptical, then like you Lobo - they all go WOW or Holy Shite. It's so cool seeing their reaction, priceless. I had 7 visitors yesterday and a couple more today coming over. Anyone thinking about ordering a rift now and wondering/worried about lead times, I ordered my 2nd rift 3 days ago and it's shipping already so there is virtually no delay at present.
  23. Cheers Kuky, wait till I get them both home and run them side by side :) I want to build up the sides of one to make it feel like an enclosed pit. Strong enough to be able to climb in and really feel like you are hopping in to a real aircraft. I do hope the wife understands :) Hows the Rift? take a huey out to the coast and land on a frigate, it's just insane!
  24. Thanks. Seat weighs in around 65KG's without harness and cushions. The whole thing, not sure. Base is quite heavy too.
