  1. Nice vids Ivan. I've got a share in a Yak but considering buying own or a CEII. Why did you (upgrade) to the Chang, is the performance better for the smaller engine?
  2. well done GA, that is one of if not the best video you have done, totally top notch.
  3. Nice formation Ivan, you in that one? When are you upgrading to the YAK:) Now DCS is getting the Christian Eagle II I am torn as I am looking for a YAK52 but all confused with the CE - what to do, what to do!
  4. NZ here so around 4am on the 1st. Just hoping it won't be a 6 hour download as I am going to get up real early for this one.
  5. Hi Bbrz 30 Mins reserve is law here so safe we allow for 40 litres plus there is 12 litres for unusable. Then possible 4 litres for start, taxi and engine runup/ (it can take time to get the oil temp up for takeoff temperatures) and 4 litres for the take off climb to altitude. So maximum SAFE endurance is really only 60 litres and at 130NM / Hr at maximum endurance settings is 195NM \ 361km (depending on wind). But what do I know :P
  6. The standard yak has 2 x 60 litre tanks for a total of 120 litres. My last flight this week was a 0.5 with a little aerobatics and used 40 litres. With 30 mins reserve for divert (and unusable) you have around 0.9 hours safe fuel. At 130 knots that's 117 NM. Not very long legs my friend.
  7. Just removed open beta last week so time to reinstall, I do like how it copies as much as it can from 1.5.8 release version though rather than redownloading. Now, is there enough space on the SSD :)
  8. I fly one here in NZ, from an affordability perspective, they are cheap to run at around 60 litres per hour in the cruise and 80-100 litres per hour during aeros. I'm interested in how well ED recreates the sound of the M14P radial engine which is just beautiful. Question 1: Where do we host photos now to post here, have a couple to show the group. Question 2: This game mode they talk about, I do hope they are not talking about downgrading the flight dynamics for the DCS version. Anyone know?
  9. Prowler, I've got access to a serviceable A37 if you need any motivation to do the tweetybird.
  10. Has anyone noticed that the mirror in the Spitfire has an incorrect angle of reflection on the horizon behind? or is that just me? Compared it to the P51 which is okay and correct

    Yak-52B?

Guys, I fly the Yak52 irl and it's a lovely aircraft, the sound of a nine cylinder radial and 360HP is just bliss. Aero's in this is positive and it snaps great. Looking forward to having this in my virtual hangar. I realise this is not everyone's cup of tea but neither is the HAWK :)
  12. James, DCS is fairly realisitic for a sim without force feedback. You can land this bird if you apply real world skills. A bunch of us can and do regular land with wheeling the mains on, checking forward and then allowing the tail wheel to settle. Three pointing is easier but keep her straight by pumping the breaks and dancing on the rudder pedals. Don't look to the side if you are using VR, use your peripheral vision as much as possible. Also, keep a little power on when landing and your airspeed around 90 knots over the fence. Practice and practice and you will get it. Hope that helps
  13. +1 This needs to happen, it just seems to be all over the place at the moment. Nothing quite finished.
  14. Now see when I started this thread, I was quite serious about it. It's a very serious matter in fact. But seriously, I like to bail out from time to time to experience the sensation of parachuting. But in all seriousness, it was really for the friends that come over and have never tried VR and DCS, bailing them out anywhere above 500ft it takes an eternity until they hit the ground. And in VR it's funny telling them to look down and keep their feet together as they hit the ground. See - a serious topic indeed!
  15. If you could add New Zealand to that list as well please, that would be good. We have the same rank structure as the UK and Australian Air Forces. Even though we no longer have a strike wing (stupid decision), we do operate NH90, A109, P3KOrions, C130 Hercules, S2H Seaspirtes, B757 and our new Beech-craft T-6C Texan II's. Once Razbam have the A-29 up and running, would love to skin this as RNZAF T-6
  16. Does anyone else find the parachute descent rate too slow? Is this able to be adjusted in anyway? Just seems really slow even from just a 1000ft Thanks for any feedback
  17. Thanks for posting all the pics cichlidfan. One other thing to add to your suggestion, what about down-wash effect on the grass? Does anyone know if this effect is going to be modelled?
  18. Hi Wags, Is there any plans to add airfields and detail to Guernsey and Jersey? My grand parents house was used by the Germans as a cook house during the war. It's right off the coast so could make a good staging area. Thanks and have a great easter.
  19. Cyph3r, not sure if this affecting anyone else, but since ordering the stick last week, haven't been able to login to the website. I have sent an email to the shop.
  20. That's very sad news if that doesn't happen. The potential to have four people in a single aircraft is huge. The 2nd and 3rd people don't even have to have full setups, could just use a suitable laptop, mouse, keyboard and Rift.
  21. Have ordered one Cyph3r - looking forward to testing it out. Will send you a PM about some other stuff. Thanks
  22. Great update Cobra. This is going to be a great year for DCS if everything falls into place on time. And that road crew implementation is a very nice surprise. It is April 1st here in NZ already so I am hoping that is just coincidence :)
  23. Have to agree with Brass, really top notch. Love it Matbog.
  24. The UH1H collective arrived this week. I will need to modify it to fit in my own pit but should be a good addition over the current 206 collective from OE-XAM. I still feel that there are some improvements that can be made with weight and finish that would make this comparable to a commercially released product i.e. TM Warthog. But I can say this to anyone who wants to fly Helo's as accurately as possible, using a collective makes a huge difference. Will post some pictures later once it is mounted. Yogi, the box arrived damaged (badly) but everything was bubble wrapped so well, there was no damage. Agree with nrgized that the coolie hat is a lethal weapon.
