  1. Nope that is the correct pricing I received yesterday. That is the home simulator modules but the W3 and W6 units look very robust. And those prices include shipping to NZ
  2. Just received the CKAS prcing and the units are very tidy: 3DOF U2 Small unit around $13000 AUD shipped to NZ (+ import taxes etc). 6DOF W3 around $19500 AUD shipped to NZ (+ import taxes etc) 6DOF W6 around $33000 AUD shipped to NZ (+ taxes) Without dedicated DCS integration it makes it a bit of a risk.
  3. Hi Guys, Anyone here got a motion platform working with DCS and how easy was it to configure? I am thinking about a unit from CKAS in Australia. If anyone also knows if there is much difference between a 3DOF and 6DOF setup i.e. for the cost is a 3DOF setup good enough? Plan is to use this in conjunction with the Rift CS1. Also for those using the Rift now, will motion add in benefit to the Rift (cost benefit etc). Appreciate all and any feedback. Thanks Craig

    DCS Tucano poll

Yes really - this is a turbo prop which will be great for Ab Initio and lead in training. That won't excite everyone, but will certainly add to realism which some of us want. I think they will do well with this product. Personally, I would love someone to do a YAK52 (hint hint ED).

Exactly - there are plenty of similar aircraft and having one that is close enough is all we need. I'd be happy to skin this as pretend it's a NZ Texan II :)

This is perfect for those who want to go through their wings course leading up to other higher performance aircraft. I think you have made a good decision RAZBAM. M2000C, Harrier and now this are all great aircraft.
  7. Thanks Metal, I'm very glad to hear that. Still an expensive exercise. How did you find your DK2? Did you order the CV1 as well? P.S. - I've never used all those panels you made for me. But I still have them all :)
  8. Is this the "I've pre-ordered" section? Just ordered. What was $599 USD turned into $699 USD when I selected I was in NZ. Then shipping (which will be from China) was another $138 USD on top of that. All that equates to $1355 NZD Then when it arrives in NZ, it will be stung with import duties and GST which will equate to approx a further $200 which makes the rift $1555 NZD Yep - maybe a little buyers remorse right there. Have never used any of the DK's so I am hoping this will be mind blowing for the cost!
  9. Cheers John. Everything is made from Alluminium, some of it hand fabricated but mostly drawn up in Sketchup and then routed. I had the all of it powder coated so painting is a loose term. The only thing I would do differently would be to weld the side consoles from the inside so the joins would be really crisp. I'm really happy with the side consoles, they can be freely moved but due to the weight they don't slide all over the place but allow me to adjust for getting in and out. The seat I am really proud of, it's based on a Mk10 and managed to pick up 2 of everything from ebay so I can build another one at some stage. I've contoured the seat backings so it feels very real (I've compared it to the real Mk10 that I have access to). The survival pack under the seat cushion is more contoured cushioning that is very hard and the yellow is more material that the wife sewed up for me. It works really well. I could have spent more time getting it to look authentic but the cost of the whole thing has been quite high. Re-looking at the seat costs with all the extra parts from ebay, it probably has cost closer to $2500 for the seat alone but that's fully painted and including estimated labour costs. The front panel I loosely based on the F18. The MFD spacers and instrument bevels behind are to help give it more of a 3D feel and I really like them. Due to the monitor size behind, I have had to put the RWR next to it. The front panel is also bolted down onto the center console so it can be removed easily enough. This way, I can create other front panels and swap them out as needed i.e. M2000C or P51 etc etc. I've had a couple of pilot mates over and they are really impressed, everyone wants me to build another so we can do some dog fighting. I'm really interested to see how the Rift will work with it when it is released.
  10. You wanted to know how much Kuky - probably around nz$2000 for the seat alone with all the metal, cushions, harness, paint etc. But don't tell the wife :) The right side console has a hollow section below for storing maps, paper etc Next stage is to get the 23" screen mounted behind the instrument panel and to also add fake instruments.
  11. Jan 2016 Update Managed to do a little more on the pit. Still keeping it real simple and need to do more with the finishing / stickers. The seat sits on 2 channels with nylon guides to enable it to slide in and out really smoothly and with almost no effort. The ejection handle is attached to a long stainless rod and this goes through the base plate and inserts into guide holes so you can lock the seat in place. Underneath the seat is the butt kicker and with the seat made of aluminum you really feel the rumble. This all sits in my dining area with full permission from my wife :)

    Default livery

Thats strange, in both my 1.5 and 2.0 I cannot see or change any skins. The scroll bar shows nothing. Not just on the Mirage either, on all aircraft. I thought this was a bug everyone was having - obviously not :(
  13. One of the best if not the best update / communication we have ever seen. Wonderful example of professionalism. You are setting the bar very very high Cobra, thank you.
  14. Nice - small observation - our ex RNZAF A-4s where dehumped as part of Kahu upgrade
  15. Heard the same - hoping to crawl over one in Jan.
  16. Don't give up on the F-18 Bull :). It's been a good year for DCS and next year will more than likely top it if both the 18 and the 14 get released. It's xmas eve (in NZ) Cobra, you can have tomorrow off okay :)
  17. I know you have already chosen but add +1 for the Tornado followed by the A-4 and the A-6
  18. These are just observations and not criticisms in order to help: 1. Setup mission with F-15C and E's at night - aircraft still dark even if caught in another aircraft's lights 2. Same goes for taxing near the terminal lights, the aircraft still dark Best time to fly is at dawn or dusk, stunning graphics.
  19. Yes, it works well. Now the L39C looks like a civilian version. Have some friends who own an L39 so need to show them DCS
  20. Been downloading for nearly 10 1/2 hours and I'm still not able to launch DCS 2.0 yet. Let alone NTTR. Current download 312MB at 17KB/s It is what it is but it wasn't this bad when 1.5 came out
  21. I was wondering the same. The first 12GB came down very fast and the next update which is 1.85GB is painfully slow at 8KB/s and after 4 hours is just 1/4 way there. If we cancel, does it have to start again?
  22. Looking very very good Zeus. It's the 30th here in NZ already :)
  23. Everyone can be thankful you don't charge a monthly access / rent fee (don't get any ideas). Looking forward to 2.0 and NTTR and 2000C.
  24. Brief search carried out but Mig29G wheels rotate wrong way when rolling. Currently using 1.5 update 3 Anyone else have this?
  25. Sadly, their gain was NZ's loss : ( We miss the A4's and 339's around our skies. I've got access to a 339 if anyone wants photos and data to create a model :) hint himt
