Thanks Kuky, I'll let you know once it's finished as it needs some work on the head knockers, rivets, oxy bottle and ejection handle. Plan is to have the ejection handle as the locking mechanism for the seat to slide in and out on rails. Some more work on it next week that will make a nice difference : ) and then it's off to the powder coaters. Once the design is done though, I'd be happy to provide pricing for the basic seat in kit set form. Then all you need is a local welder. I have a good supplier of aluminum so you might be surprised. Still quite a bit more than MDF that's for sure but the seat feels amazing and the Butt-kicker is attached to a pole on the underside and the whole seat just rocks, you really feel it. I even picked up a French Mirage pilots maewest that adds to the immersion. Hopefully have most of it done in time for DCS World 2.

Not the greatest picture. Have picked up a MB10 seat harness on ebay. Still a lot of work to do but sitting in this thing all strapped in is real cool, starting to feel authentic. Going to make the side consoles out of Ali as well plus thinking about having the Crosswinds painted a different colour i.e. match the seat once it is powder coated. A front panel still to be designed, but something modular so I can switch between aircraft panels nice and easily.

MFG Crosswind - Review
X93355 replied to Flamin_Squirrel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've had my MFG Crosswinds for a few months now and they are by far the best rudder pedals I have used to date. Well manufactured, great software. Highly recommended. If you have the funds, get them, you won't be disappointed. -
Thanks Warhog. Got some plans in mind for the ejection handle operation : ) The seat is starting to weigh a bit. Hopefully have it all done in time for DCS2 release. Looking to make a front panel and the side panels from Ali as well. Such a great product to work with. Should look good powder coated. Haven't decided if to go with a matt black or gun metal grey.

8 weeks since last update which leaves me excited for an April update (hopefully). Can't be too far away surely? I'm moving house over the next 2-3 weeks so hopefully not released during that time (sorry for being so selfish). The anticipation is frightening... can't wait

Haven't used extruded but having a huge appreciation for aluminum. Such a great product to meld / weld etc. Gives a great finish if you want to powder coat it. Looking forward to seeing your plans come together.

A bit more work this week. Fabricating the belt tensioners etc.

Updated Ejection Seat Been updating the ejection seat with it being completely made of aluminum Still work in progress but coming along fast. Plan to get it powder coated once finished. Weighs quite a bit but it works brilliantly with the Buttkicker attached to a pole on the bottom of the seat. The idea is to have the seat able to slide in and out on my simulator platform by way of pulling the ejection handle.

Hi Dredd, I use to have a R3volution and just sold it this week. I found the triple monitor stand very unstable so I had an aluminium stand made to suit a 55" main screen. Will get a picture today and post. The R3volution is all steal so it's heavy and good pit for starting with if you get the acrylic table tops as well as the flight sim attachments. Being all steal it was good for mounting the ButtKicker too and the vibrations went right through the seat :)

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
X93355 replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Got to love carrier ops and the F-18. Nice one blaze, just makes me more excited about how great DCS is going to be this year when the F-18C / DCS2 and now the F-14 also. I'll probably just do circuits for ages once decent carrier ops come out ; ) -
Analog brakes not working for MFG Crosswind and BF109?
X93355 replied to X93355's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yep - user error (but not with assignments). With software calibration. Love the MFG's though. -
Is this a bug others are having? I cannot get the BF109 to recognise the analog brakes with my MFG crosswinds since the last update. In the axis control settings, it just won't recognise the brakes yet the rudder input works fine. Analog brakes work fine for other aircraft.

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
X93355 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Totally agree, amazing to see all the support. If a pre-order system is put in place, I'll be in. Same for the F-18 -
DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
X93355 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
If it was, that would be an amazing year for DCS. With Edge out this year and knowing both the F-18 and the F-14 are being made plus the Mirage 2000C. This is just an amazing year. Thanks Cobra for taking on the F14. -

X93355 replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Can you imagine if Cobra has been pulling our legs and it's not the tomcat! With all the hype if he doesn't announce the F14 today then anything else will be a 2nd best. -

Extremely good update - Thanks ED -
Some light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you ED, Matt and Froogle. Great video. 2014 was a good year for DCS and 2015 looks to be even better.

Hi Tango, Looking forward to your jet and will be buying it to add to the stable. Great communication between a number of developers. Thanks Craig

Joe, your pit is one of the reasons I decided to do a pit as well. A lot of your pics of your pit are no longer available so just wondering if you can re post them. With the update to the SU-27 about to happen it would be great to see them again. Cheers

QFE is field elevation - if your set your altimeter so it reads zero whilst on the ground then you have QFE QNH is set for mean seal level so if you adjust your altimeter for the pressure of the day then you should have your height above sea level. Pressure is constantly changing so ATC will advise when it does. Above a certain altitude (different countries have different heights) you set your QNH to the International Standard at 1013 Would be great to have improved ATC thats for sure. ATIS and holding points, circuit rejoins, landing permissions etc. Imagine "Falcon 69, you are number 3 in the circuit, continue for runway 27L" :)

Gut feeling too and lets admit it, a huge amount of work goes into creating all that wonderful so i am one for paying for it. Great update ED

I've had a good look at all the replies before commenting. The thing is that you should be able to land the aircraft on the main wheels with the tail up. You shouldn't have to three point it. There seems to be quite a number of real life pilots here (me included) so I struggle with the fact that you can't two point this sucker no matter how smoothly you are on the controls and throttle over the threshold. Without a doubt, take off is easy if you use constant rudder adjustments and your peripheral vision. The problem with simulators is that you don't have the feedback in the rudders that it needs (and other inputs). Are there any force feedback rudder pedals out there? DCS for me is about getting as close as you can to real life flying without the cost so when some people here say it's not quite right then I would agree. For those of you who don't have extensions to your joysticks, definitely look into it as it does change the feel and accuracy of your control.

What date will Edge be released? There are only 10 weeks until Christmas (11 weeks until the end of the year) and we all know everyone is hanging out for Edge. I believe 2014 has been a good year for DCS and 2015 is looking like a fantastic year (everything is subject to change though :music_whistling:). So how about a little fun: What date do you think Edge is going to be released (GMT/UDT) I'll start with December 19th.
